If there was an option for no star i would definitely give this place no stars. I always get my nails done at two places one in newton mass and one in my hometown. I was in salem to pick up some things for my mother. I did not have time that day to go all the way back home to get my nails done so, i googled the best nail place in salem biggest mistake ever. I always get gel polish on my real nails. That day i also decided to do a pedi. I am very particular about my nails. Long story short this place is awful. They don't put a base on your nails before they put the polish on.. Then they file your nails and then the put the polish on i mean it was a hot mess... My polish was bubbled on my hands at the end... They use anti bacterial to clean the nails.. And my french pedi was uneven. I did not say anything to the lady because she was nice and even if i complained they would not be able to fix my nails because they do not have the appropriate tools. They also had a mouse that appeared out of nowhere!!! Gross!!!! I have no idea why this place is ranked as the best it is awful!! The people are nice but they suck as far as doing nails!!! I will never go back there ever again!! I had to go back to my original place  to do my nails.. Waste of my money and time. I would not recommend anyone to go here.. Read Less

I am very pleased with The Palms Nail Bar & Salon. This was my second visit, and this visit was even better than the first. I love that I can walk in, and they have plenty of people on staff ready to assist. I also love that they have a price list they give to all their clientele to show the different pedicure options available, and what each option entails. I have been in too many nail salons where the pricing just seems so random. Everything in the space appeared to be very clean and sanitary. Plenty of nail color options, in both regular polish and gel. I think it's safe to say that I will be back for a third visit. Read Less

I was very excited to visit Palms Nail Bar & Spa with my bridal party to get our nails done for my wedding.  I stopped in about a month prior to check the place out and book appointments.  They were very accomodating, and assured me that the time frame we set up would accomodate all of us with time to spare (necessary since we would be on a set schedule the day before the wedding).  Well that was the end of my good experience with them.We arrived that day with 5 girls ready to get manis and pedis and were shocked to find 2 women working and in no rush to get us started.  We were the only ones in there.  I immediately started to panic knowing we had to be out in time to make the rehearsal.  When it was my turn for a pedi I got in the chair, stuck my feet in the warm water and tried to relax and not thing about the time.  I asked for a french manicure on both my hands and feet as I was the bride and had open toed shoes.  I then received possibly the worst pedicure I've ever had.  She removed my old polish, filed the nails and that was about it.  No work on the cuticles, no shaping, no lotion or scrub on my feet or legs, and once the polish was done I looked at one of my bridesmaids horrified.  It looked like a 6 year old had painted my nails.  The polish was just globbed on and the white lines for the french weren't even straight.  My bridesmaid just looked at me shocked and said "dont worry, I can fix this tonight"  Great- just what I need- for the $30+ bridal pedicure to need to be redone the night before my wedding. I then proceeded to wait in the chair until it was my turn for a manicure.  We're now 10 minutes away from the time limit I was told we'd be out and I'm just getting started.  More panic on my part.  2.5 hours we had been there for 5 manis and 4 pedis.  The young girl who did my manicure was very nice, but the manicure service was horrible!!  She didn't soak my hands, work on the cuticles, shape anything.  She simply took my dry hands, filed my nails and then started painting.  And this was a $30 gel manicure!!!  She did a decent job on my nails.  There were more bubbles and slight imperfections that I would have liked for a service at this cost, and knowing that my hands were going to be photographed many times the next day, but I had to go to my happy place knowing it wasn't worth the meltdown I was about to have.  $300 later (I paid for all 5 manicures) we walked out 35 mins late and raced back to the hotel where my family and the rest of our bridal party was already waiting for us.For the prices they change the experience we had was absolutely horrible- especially for my wedding nails, the one time I really need everything to be perfect.  I would not return or recommend them to anyone else. I had a great experience here. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is lovely. They offer you refreshments upon arrival and has a "no-rush, sit and relax" vibe. It's a fun place to sit and unwind. However, the reason I gave it three stars is because of the pricing. I was startled by their pricing structure and I feel that if you are going to charge that much then everything should be perfect (ie, don't leave excess polish around my nails). For a basic pedicure it was $40. I have visited other high end salons where you get a much better pedicure with shellac polish for less. It was still a lovely place to visit and I wouldn't not recommend it but the cheap skate in me feels there are better places out there. Read Less

I originally found The Palms in 2009 before a trip to Jamaica that I wanted to get a mani/pedi for the trip before we left. Intrigued by their website, I called and made an appointment. The woman who answered the phone was incredibly nice & friendly, so I was excited about going to my appointment.I have been there several times for mani/pedi appointments, and have not been disappointed. Upon arrival, the staff will greet you with a smile and lead you to your pedi chair. You are offered a warm beverage - I always get a coffee with whatever flavored creamer they have on hand - or a glass of water. There are little bowls of chocolate all over the salon which often have seasonal candy (fall Hersheys, Christmas Kisses, candy corn, etc.). The staff are super friendly and answer any questions you have - and are patient while you try to pick out one of their nail colors, even showing you new ones they have in when you've already taken forever to look at what you have to choose from. They take their time with the pedi/mani, talking with you or not (depending on your responses). I cannot say enough good things about their staff - especially Nicole, who I've had on a couple of occasions. Not only is the staff friendly and the service top-notch, but the atmosphere is spot-on. They absolutely live up to their name - the decor is very tropical and there is island/steel drum music playing softly in the background. For me - the combination of the atmosphere, the staff demeanor, and the service are what keep me coming back.My only sadness about this place is that when I moved from Salem to Tyngsboro (35-40 minutes away) - it didn't move with me! I would highly recommend this place to anyone and would definitely consider making the trek there now that we've moved. It's that good. Read Less

Cute little nail place right on Route 28 in Salem, NH.The whole place is tropical themed, and done in a somewhat tasteful and not too over the top way.A mani/pedi will run you about $73 bucks (with tip), it's up there, pricy for just being a nail place, it's not a spa or anything, but you're there for a good 2 hours, sometime more. They don't rush you and they let you sit, relax and actually SOAK for awhile. They always have to Food Network on which I LOVE, I love relaxing getting my  nails did and watching Giada "Big Head" De Laurentiis make some fantastic Italian cookie or something. One thing they do differently than a lot of places in the area is you have the option of renting out the place for girls days/nights out, birthdays or in my friend Lindsey's case, we renting the place out the day before her wedding so she and all of her bridal party could get mani/pedis before the big day. They were SO accommodating, they let us bring anything we wanted. And we did, we hooked up the bride's IPod, brought in snacks, and at the bride's request, some Micholobe Ultra too. We have a great time, and it was only a $50 rental fee for the whole place for the afternoon. The staff is REALLY nice. I actually stopped by this preferred customer open house they were having there today, and they had tons of food and drinks and were giving away goody bags with beauty products in them, and they had 10% off all gift certificates too.Really nice place to relax up in the Salem, NH area.
