My experience was wonderful from when I walked in the door. The women at the front desk were very sweet and friendly. Derek was amazing. He was clearly busy but treated me like I was his only client of the day. He listened to what I didn't like about my hair and what I wanted, and talked to me about exactly how he would make it happen. He even planned out the cut so it would last me 10-12 weeks. He is an obvious educator and he described how and why he was making certain cuts based on the initial problem areas I told him about. He was conversational but quiet and concentrated when he needed to be, so I NEVER got the impression he was lost in talk and possibly not paying attention to what he was doing. He is a HIGHLY skilled artist and true gem. I have already booked 2 more appointments with him! Read Less

Aidan James is hands down the BEST hair salon in all of New England. I've been a client of Derek's for over a decade now - literally hundreds of cut and color appointments ​under my belt. ​ I moved out of the Nashua area ​down to Boston ​over 5 years ago, and have spora​tically ​tried a few ​stylists​ in my area, sometimes paying over $300 for an appointment, at some of the most exclusive salons in the city. Each time, I've regretted it - walking out the door disappointed, and feeling silly for equating price with quality. I've since learned making the hour drive back up to Nashua to Aiden James is WELL worth the trip. You won't get a better hair cut and color anywhere for miles around. A++ Read Less

I've been an Aiden James client for two years now and with Stephanie for almost every appointment. Stephanie is an amazing stylist and a master colorist - I look forward to each visit not only because I'll leave with gorgeous hair but because I love spending time talking with Stephanie; it feels like I'm hanging out with one of my favorite friends. The salon itself is gorgeous and well run, I often get my brows waxed and they always look amazing (ask for Carolyn). I have also gone to other stylists including Drew and Fanny and they were all top notch. I can not recommend Aiden James highly enough. Read Less

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses.I am extremely disappointed in this salon. I had previously had a great experience here (this was my third or fourth time), and I think my stylist Kylie has done a good job with my hair, and I was planning on coming back indefinitely and let her handle all my hair needs. However, a salon experience is more than just the actual cutting and coloring. I felt that I was treated very poorly by the "customer care" staff, Cat. I booked my 5/31 appointment about 2 months in advance and I inadvertently booked in on  a Tuesday, which is when I have a family obligation and thus no child care. I called and tried to reschedule and was told Kylie was booked as far out as July. I said I would make it work, which involved bringing my 6-year-old with me. I arrived for my appointment with my son, and Cat checked me in and said absolutely nothing about a "no kids policy". In fact, I noticed a kid's table in the waiting area with coloring books and crayons. My son spent about 3 hours at Aidan James and he is an exceptionally well-behaved child, which I guarantee is not a figment of my imagination... I have had plenty of feedback from his teachers and friends' parents in regards to that. He ate a snack, played on his IPad, colored, and came looking for me a couple times. One time I asked Kylie to check on him because he was so quiet. All his interactions with staff and his "actions" (mainly lack thereof) in the salon were respectful and in no way a threat to anyone's safety. So, when it came time for me to check out, it was almost 8 pm, and I didn't even have time to book my next appointment because I was really late to aforementioned family obligation. I told Kylie I would call and schedule my next appointment when I had time the next day. After I paid, and left the standard 20% tip on my bill for 3 different services (so, we're not talking about a $40 visit here) I was approached by Cat, who said to me "I wanted to let you know that children are not allowed in these premises, unless they are supervised by an adult. This is because we have shears, and all kinds of things that are dangerous". Ok. My question is: why did you not tell me that when you checked me in? Why did you wait and take the chance for this alleged dangerous environment to cause severe damage to my son or vice versa? I would have happily rescheduled. What was the point of "letting me know that" after the fact, other than to be unpleasant? If you let it go, than it is not that rigid of a policy now, is it? Please make up your mind. I left feeling like my son and I were mistreated, discriminated against for reasons I don't even want to contemplate, instead of treated like valuable customers of this salon. If Cat had bothered to ask Kylie, she would know that I never did and never would bring my son again. It's a real shame, because I like Kylie's work, but I am a professional and I expect nothing short of professionalism when I deal with people in their workplace. I am also particularly put off by anti-family attitudes and inflexibility. Unwillingness to accommodate clients shows unwillingness to go the extra mile. That's a horrible business practice. I'm very disappointed, because I really wanted to patronize this salon, but at this point I feel like their discriminatory policies and rudeness are not something I can condone. PS: She was also not friendly when I checked in. I was early, so I said I'd go grab some food for my son and she said, flatly "you have eight minutes". Smiling and humoring your customers never killed anyone. You don't need to be as slick as a car salesman, but if you're the face of a company you need to have people skills...I would expect something like "sure, you still have some time and there's plenty of places around". ****BLONDES BEWARE****My one star is not based on skill or technique. It is almost entirely based on incredibly poor communication and customer service. If you need a simple haircut or color they can certainly do it, but today for the third time I left the salon in tears with a shade of blonde that was not in any way what I wanted. I had a consultation a couple months ago with Co-Owner Derek. I could not get an appointment with him due to scheduling conflicts and was assured any of the other master stylists could deliver the same results. When I went in for my appointment, the stylist told me she thought Derek had over-promised. I asked that if she wasn't confident she could do what I was asking, to let me know and to get Derek's input because if needed I would change the direction I wanted to take. She didn't speak with Derek and only acknowledged my concerns by saying she was confident she could get the color but was worried about the damage. We then discussed cutting my hair shorter than originally planned so that it would still look healthy after lightening my hair. I didn't have a problem with that and nothing else was discussed about the color so I assumed we were back on the same page.Fast forward to the end of my appointment when I told her I wasn't happy. She had not been overly cheerful at all but was mostly pleasant up until this point. Then she completely changed her attitude, accompanied by a lot of eye rolling and huffing about. She had the other owner Rachel come take a look at my hair. Rachel agreed that my hair did not look like the photo I had showed the stylist and made another appointment for tomorrow. After still being asked to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a color I was horrified by, and sitting in my car thinking about my last few experiences, I was no longer comfortable returning. I went back in to ask for a refund and cancel my next appointment; at which point Rachel went from agreeing with me to defending her stylist saying she did nothing wrong and she stands by the work of her employee. I was given a partial refund, barely a third of what I had paid, and told I should go else where.While I am not happy with the color, I am more disappointed in the lack of courtesy and professionalism. When I made my appointment, I explained I needed more time than standard because the previous two visits I had left unhappy because of availability issues. I asked that Derek was brought it to advise the stylist, a request she completely ignored, and then after telling them I was no longer comfortable coming back, they try to turn it around on me like I did something wrong. This is not how you treat customers who are willing to give you another shot at keeping their business.I am not an unreasonable person. I said upfront, if my expectations are too high just tell me. Instead, unrealistic expectations were set and no accountability was taken. That is not the kind of business I want to give my money too. Read Less

Aidan James salon is beautiful, chic, and classy. I cannot put into words how amazing Stephanie is. I have never loved my hair more than I do now. I have never gotten so many compliments on my gorgeous balayaged hair. I have always wanted to go blonde but have always been scared to do it! Her talent as an stylist is remarkable. She is so intelligent and a true artist. I always tell her how I can't believe I waited so long to go blonde and I was so ugly before she touched my head. I truly enjoy my visits to the salon and spending time chatting with her! I am now the golden goddess I have always wanted to be!!!!! I literally feel blessed I found her! Continuously have wonderful, friendly, timely, dependable and relaxing professional service with Lisa Sullivan.I have had numerous manicures and pedicures but nothing beats a service with Lisa.  I have been going to Lisa for 10+ years now and never go elsewhere. Her pedicures are amazing and her workmanship is meticulous. The polish is perfect every time.I think of some of the other shops I have been to where the client is not the focus or cleanliness is set aside.  This is not the case with Lisa.  She gives the client her 100% attention and has very high expectations for the atmosphere.  I never worry about the cleanliness.  A stress free service is a guarantee with Lisa.To add to the relaxing mani/pedi, the drinks of the month are over-the-top.  Delicious every time! I have been going to Aidan James for over 5 years and have loved everyone there. The stylists and staff are phenomenal. However, I recently found out that three of my favorite artists (who have worked there for years and are very popular) at the salon "suddenly" no longer work there!!!! I don't know what happened but my guess is the management isn't doing a very good job if they can't keep these artists. It is disappointing to see this happen to such nice creative people. I hope the management changes so the rest of the artists and clientele can continue to enjoy their services. Until THAT happens I will no longer be a client. I cannot in all good conscious support a work place that treats their staff so incredibly poorly and thus their clientele. Read Less

I came into the salon on a Saturday at 10am. Was taken in right at my appointment time, which was great.   I have blonde highlights in my hair and asked if the hair stylist could brighten them up and put more highlights in. She seemed to think about it a little, match my color, and also ask some advice from the stylist next to her, then we proceeded with it. Instead of foiling she decided to do an "all over color" and brushed into my roots the dye. I was a little nervous about it, since I'm so used to foils but I let her do her thing. After waiting almost 45min for the color to come through we washed and blow dried. It definitely didn't look like what I wanted but I was accepting of it.  When I got home from the salon I looked in my mirror and saw that the color wasn't right. Getting a close up look at my hair it just looked really bad. I decided to wash my hair and noticed when I was blow drying that the blonde was an orange/yellow color and the ends of my hair was a totally different color from my roots. It was terrible, I hated it.   I called immediately the next morning and left a message. Since they are closed Sunday and Monday, I didn't hear back from anyone till Tuesday. I hated the color so much that I dyed it back to brown, it was really bad.  When I received the call back they informed me since I dyed my hair, they can not help me at all. I was shocked. I wasn't going to walk around all day Sunday and all day Monday with three different colors in my hair. After explaining this, the girl on the phone said she would contact her other stylist or manager...not sure. But she promised me a call back later that day. I didn't hear anything back that day.   The next day I hear back from the manager to re inform me that they couldn't help me at all. It's disheartening.    It's so easy to do the right thing.....I've been there three times before that and never complained, it always came out good. This time was very unfortunate. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I will never be back.  The cut looks good though.... Read Less

I have been going to the Aidan James Salon for many years. I usually go somewhere, find one stylist and stick with him/her. I hesitate to try anyone else. Fortunately, when I had to do that here, it did not matter. I have seen multiple stylists and they have all been fantastic. The staff is fabulous as well. There have been a couple of times that my stylist was running behind and I received phone calls asking me to come a little later. That is fabulous customer service!! I am so excited that I have found an amazing hair salon with multiple curly hair cutting experts. I would recommend Aidan James Salon in a minute.Read Less

I went to Aidan James Salon today to get my long hair cut short, and wow did Fanny do a good job! I feel so good about myself and any worries I had before about having short hair quickly disappeared. Fanny was professional and helpful. The salon itself has a very good atmosphere and all staff are welcoming and friendly. I've always looked forward to a visit at the Salon because I feel and look so good when I leave!! I recently had a very frustrating experience (during the holidays) when I called with a question and found that my appointment had been cancelled. The reason for the cancellation was valid and understandable but trying to reschedule during a hectic time of year (perso...nally and professionally on both sides) was not going well. By the time I got to Rachel I was beyond exasperated and uncharacteristically short-tempered. I want to thank Rachel so much for taking the time to talk with me, listen to me, and make things right. I have been a client at Aiden James for several years and I have usually experienced wonderful service. I have curly hair that is colored and high-lighted and both Derek and Wendy have spent a lot of time getting it right. I have gotten compliments from strangers who stop me to ask where I get my hair done? They often just say "I love your hair." Today was not a banner day for customer service at Aiden James. I went in to ask for "my" color formula as I was going to be ou...t of town and needed to have my hair done in a shorter time frame than what was available. I was informed that it was not their "policy" to give out that information. I did not want to argue about it because the silliness of it was not worth my time. I would definitely suggest that Aiden James review and change this policy as it makes no sense and because I am sure that I am not their only client that travels and may often need to see another stylist. They take your coat and offer you wine coffee water, whatever you want.I see terry graham (he is amazing, will 100% be a celebrity colorist one day- he's already on his way...winning awards and placing first in elite hair competitions) and he always gives me the most beautiful color. Not to mention the best hair cuts I have ever had. I am from boston and have been to the newbury street salons- this place looks the part but is BETTER. Terry (and from what I've see of other stylists from being in the chair) are familiarized with all types of coloring. Blonde, brunette, reds, ombré, funky styles and colors, etc....they can do it all! Terry started with me as very dark and took me all the way to blonde! He is honest with me but has never told me what i want isn't possible. I am a jeans, sneakers, hair in a bun, always in a t-shirt kind of girl. But once in a while I like to treat myself to a nicer salon's haircut. Based on other reviews, I picked Aidan James this time around -- it was phenomenal! Everyone was warm and welcoming, and my stylist did not judge for a second when I told her I cut my hair once a year or so and almost always wear it up (I have had some snooty reactions before). She gave me a great cut, but she also rewet it just to show me step by step what to do to style my curls. All of the stylists in there seemed to have awesome relationships with clients...multiple stylists would approach and chat with one client. Overall a wonderful salon! Read Less

There are things I love about this place and some other things that I'm less crazy about. I tried here after reading good reviews online and seeing that they had won multiple awards. I wanted to develop a relationship with a stylist, but not spend loads of money getting my fairly short hair maintained regularly. I asked for a junior stylist or new talent. They hooked me up with John, who gave me an AMAZING haircut. Loved it. When I called to schedule my next appointment about 4 weeks later, I found out he was no longer there. Sad, sad, sad. But they reassured me that Erica would do a great job. She did. The next four times I went in. Then she, too, was gone. So they set me up with Maria, who was training under Felix, one of the master stylists. When I got there, I found out that Maria couldn't make it that night, so Felix would cut my hair at the junior stylist rate, which I thought was fair. He did a fantastic job--he is the bob MASTER. I saw Maria a few times, and she's done a great job four times and an ok job twice. The two times that I walked out feeling "meh" my hair still looked really good, but it wasn't quite what I expected, which I am completely willing to admit may have been due to vague communication on my part. My travel schedule at work got nutty and I needed to reschedule and wound up with Stephanie, who did a great job. I felt weird because they told me that Maria wasn't available, but when I got there, she was working. I didn't see her with another client: confusing and a bit awkward. I've found everyone there very friendly and professional. I like that they have evening and weekend hours, although they do change seasonally. Read Less

I have been seeing Becky for many years now, even back before she was at Aidan James Salon and I have not seen another stylist since. I commute from Massachusetts to get my hair cut because I don't trust anyone else with my hair. Every experience I have had has been 100 percent satisfaction. She is an incredible artist and I would recommend anyone to her in a second. Aidan James Salon has a great staff of talented and friendly people. The receptionists are polite and prompt with greeting people in the salon as well as on the phone. The artists are all very dedicated to their work and strive to provide the best service possible. The salon is not cheap but you get what you pay for, and the money is defiantly worth the quality of their work. All in all a big 10 out of 10! Read Less

I hate to put a damper on every other reviewer's enthsiasm, but I'm not a fan.  I searched out Aidan James specifically because of its great reviews and yearly awards.  However, my experience didn't measure up to my expectations.  Looks as though from the reviews here on Yelp, I should have asked for Derek.  My stylist was pleasant and professional (won't name them in hopes it was just me or an off-day for them).  I took in 2 photos and tried to be as specific as I could about what I liked and didn't like.  My stylist seemed to be listening and offered feedback.  But, alas, in the end, I have a rather average haircut that is by no means stellar.  I could have gotten (and have many times) the same average haircut in any mall salon.  It doesn't lay particulary well and I wouldn't get any compliments for this drab cut/style.  Furthermore, I don't like the products at all of the Arrojo line.  I got the shampoo, conditioner and volume foam.  I feel as though my hair is limp and lifeless and that's after even doing without the conditioner.  Oh, just an update.  I later learned that they had sold me 2 conditioners and no shampoo so everytime I reached for the shampoo, it said "conditioner" and I just "naturally" assumed that the "other" must be shampoo.  Still not a fan. Wow! I am so happy that I found this salon... and YES I did find it through Yelp, then I remembered seeing it in the yearly best of the best magazine from the Hippo! I had been jumping from salon to salon looking for the right stylist who would do what I wanted, and not be afraid to try something new on me.  Becky is great! She not only has a great personality, she is highly educated.  The staff works so well together and you feel like at home from everyone the minute you walk in the door. The place is clean and fresh.  Trendy, yet not intimidating.  Very cool- I can't wait to go back! Read Less

My experience was wonderful from when I walked in the door. The women at the front desk were very sweet and friendly. Derek was amazing. He was clearly busy but treated me like I was his only client of the day. He listened to what I didn't like about my hair and what I wanted, and talked to me about exactly how he would make it happen. He even planned out the cut so it would last me 10-12 weeks. He is an obvious educator and he described how and why he was making certain cuts based on the initial problem areas I told him about. He was conversational but quiet and concentrated when he needed to be, so I NEVER got the impression he was lost in talk and possibly not paying attention to what he was doing. He is a HIGHLY skilled artist and true gem. I have already booked 2 more appointments with him! Read Less

Aidan James is hands down the BEST hair salon in all of New England. I've been a client of Derek's for over a decade now - literally hundreds of cut and color appointments ​under my belt. ​ I moved out of the Nashua area ​down to Boston ​over 5 years ago, and have spora​tically ​tried a few ​stylists​ in my area, sometimes paying over $300 for an appointment, at some of the most exclusive salons in the city. Each time, I've regretted it - walking out the door disappointed, and feeling silly for equating price with quality. I've since learned making the hour drive back up to Nashua to Aiden James is WELL worth the trip. You won't get a better hair cut and color anywhere for miles around. A++ Read Less

I've been an Aiden James client for two years now and with Stephanie for almost every appointment. Stephanie is an amazing stylist and a master colorist - I look forward to each visit not only because I'll leave with gorgeous hair but because I love spending time talking with Stephanie; it feels like I'm hanging out with one of my favorite friends. The salon itself is gorgeous and well run, I often get my brows waxed and they always look amazing (ask for Carolyn). I have also gone to other stylists including Drew and Fanny and they were all top notch. I can not recommend Aiden James highly enough. Read Less

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses.I am extremely disappointed in this salon. I had previously had a great experience here (this was my third or fourth time), and I think my stylist Kylie has done a good job with my hair, and I was planning on coming back indefinitely and let her handle all my hair needs. However, a salon experience is more than just the actual cutting and coloring. I felt that I was treated very poorly by the "customer care" staff, Cat. I booked my 5/31 appointment about 2 months in advance and I inadvertently booked in on  a Tuesday, which is when I have a family obligation and thus no child care. I called and tried to reschedule and was told Kylie was booked as far out as July. I said I would make it work, which involved bringing my 6-year-old with me. I arrived for my appointment with my son, and Cat checked me in and said absolutely nothing about a "no kids policy". In fact, I noticed a kid's table in the waiting area with coloring books and crayons. My son spent about 3 hours at Aidan James and he is an exceptionally well-behaved child, which I guarantee is not a figment of my imagination... I have had plenty of feedback from his teachers and friends' parents in regards to that. He ate a snack, played on his IPad, colored, and came looking for me a couple times. One time I asked Kylie to check on him because he was so quiet. All his interactions with staff and his "actions" (mainly lack thereof) in the salon were respectful and in no way a threat to anyone's safety. So, when it came time for me to check out, it was almost 8 pm, and I didn't even have time to book my next appointment because I was really late to aforementioned family obligation. I told Kylie I would call and schedule my next appointment when I had time the next day. After I paid, and left the standard 20% tip on my bill for 3 different services (so, we're not talking about a $40 visit here) I was approached by Cat, who said to me "I wanted to let you know that children are not allowed in these premises, unless they are supervised by an adult. This is because we have shears, and all kinds of things that are dangerous". Ok. My question is: why did you not tell me that when you checked me in? Why did you wait and take the chance for this alleged dangerous environment to cause severe damage to my son or vice versa? I would have happily rescheduled. What was the point of "letting me know that" after the fact, other than to be unpleasant? If you let it go, than it is not that rigid of a policy now, is it? Please make up your mind. I left feeling like my son and I were mistreated, discriminated against for reasons I don't even want to contemplate, instead of treated like valuable customers of this salon. If Cat had bothered to ask Kylie, she would know that I never did and never would bring my son again. It's a real shame, because I like Kylie's work, but I am a professional and I expect nothing short of professionalism when I deal with people in their workplace. I am also particularly put off by anti-family attitudes and inflexibility. Unwillingness to accommodate clients shows unwillingness to go the extra mile. That's a horrible business practice. I'm very disappointed, because I really wanted to patronize this salon, but at this point I feel like their discriminatory policies and rudeness are not something I can condone. PS: She was also not friendly when I checked in. I was early, so I said I'd go grab some food for my son and she said, flatly "you have eight minutes". Smiling and humoring your customers never killed anyone. You don't need to be as slick as a car salesman, but if you're the face of a company you need to have people skills...I would expect something like "sure, you still have some time and there's plenty of places around". ****BLONDES BEWARE****My one star is not based on skill or technique. It is almost entirely based on incredibly poor communication and customer service. If you need a simple haircut or color they can certainly do it, but today for the third time I left the salon in tears with a shade of blonde that was not in any way what I wanted. I had a consultation a couple months ago with Co-Owner Derek. I could not get an appointment with him due to scheduling conflicts and was assured any of the other master stylists could deliver the same results. When I went in for my appointment, the stylist told me she thought Derek had over-promised. I asked that if she wasn't confident she could do what I was asking, to let me know and to get Derek's input because if needed I would change the direction I wanted to take. She didn't speak with Derek and only acknowledged my concerns by saying she was confident she could get the color but was worried about the damage. We then discussed cutting my hair shorter than originally planned so that it would still look healthy after lightening my hair. I didn't have a problem with that and nothing else was discussed about the color so I assumed we were back on the same page.Fast forward to the end of my appointment when I told her I wasn't happy. She had not been overly cheerful at all but was mostly pleasant up until this point. Then she completely changed her attitude, accompanied by a lot of eye rolling and huffing about. She had the other owner Rachel come take a look at my hair. Rachel agreed that my hair did not look like the photo I had showed the stylist and made another appointment for tomorrow. After still being asked to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a color I was horrified by, and sitting in my car thinking about my last few experiences, I was no longer comfortable returning. I went back in to ask for a refund and cancel my next appointment; at which point Rachel went from agreeing with me to defending her stylist saying she did nothing wrong and she stands by the work of her employee. I was given a partial refund, barely a third of what I had paid, and told I should go else where.While I am not happy with the color, I am more disappointed in the lack of courtesy and professionalism. When I made my appointment, I explained I needed more time than standard because the previous two visits I had left unhappy because of availability issues. I asked that Derek was brought it to advise the stylist, a request she completely ignored, and then after telling them I was no longer comfortable coming back, they try to turn it around on me like I did something wrong. This is not how you treat customers who are willing to give you another shot at keeping their business.I am not an unreasonable person. I said upfront, if my expectations are too high just tell me. Aidan James salon is beautiful, chic, and classy. I cannot put into words how amazing Stephanie is. I have never loved my hair more than I do now. I have never gotten so many compliments on my gorgeous balayaged hair. I have always wanted to go blonde but have always been scared to do it! Her talent as an stylist is remarkable. She is so intelligent and a true artist. I always tell her how I can't believe I waited so long to go blonde and I was so ugly before she touched my head. Continuously have wonderful, friendly, timely, dependable and relaxing professional service with Lisa Sullivan.I have had numerous manicures and pedicures but nothing beats a service with Lisa.  I have been going to Lisa for 10+ years now and never go elsewhere. Her pedicures are amazing and her workmanship is meticulous. The polish is perfect every time.I think of some of the other shops I have been to where the client is not the focus or cleanliness is set aside.  This is not the case with Lisa.  She gives the client her 100% attention and has very high expectations for the atmosphere.  I never worry about the cleanliness.  A stress free service is a guarantee with Lisa.To add to the relaxing mani/pedi, the drinks of the month are over-the-top.  Delicious every time! I have been going to Aidan James for over 5 years and have loved everyone there. The stylists and staff are phenomenal. However, I recently found out that three of my favorite artists (who have worked there for years and are very popular) at the salon "suddenly" no longer work there!!!! I don't know what happened but my guess is the management isn't doing a very good job if they can't keep these artists. It is disappointing to see this happen to such nice creative people. I hope the management changes so the rest of the artists and clientele can continue to enjoy their services. Until THAT happens I will no longer be a client. I cannot in all good conscious support a work place that treats their staff so incredibly poorly and thus their clientele. Read Less

I came into the salon on a Saturday at 10am. Was taken in right at my appointment time, which was great.   I have blonde highlights in my hair and asked if the hair stylist could brighten them up and put more highlights in. She seemed to think about it a little, match my color, and also ask some advice from the stylist next to her, then we proceeded with it. Instead of foiling she decided to do an "all over color" and brushed into my roots the dye. I was a little nervous about it, since I'm so used to foils but I let her do her thing. After waiting almost 45min for the color to come through we washed and blow dried. It definitely didn't look like what I wanted but I was accepting of it.  When I got home from the salon I looked in my mirror and saw that the color wasn't right. Getting a close up look at my hair it just looked really bad. I decided to wash my hair and noticed when I was blow drying that the blonde was an orange/yellow color and the ends of my hair was a totally different color from my roots. It was terrible, I hated it.   I called immediately the next morning and left a message. Since they are closed Sunday and Monday, I didn't hear back from anyone till Tuesday. I hated the color so much that I dyed it back to brown, it was really bad.  When I received the call back they informed me since I dyed my hair, they can not help me at all. I was shocked. I wasn't going to walk around all day Sunday and all day Monday with three different colors in my hair. After explaining this, the girl on the phone said she would contact her other stylist or manager...not sure. But she promised me a call back later that day. I didn't hear anything back that day.   The next day I hear back from the manager to re inform me that they couldn't help me at all. It's disheartening.    It's so easy to do the right thing.....I've been there three times before that and never complained, it always came out good. This time was very unfortunate. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I will never be back.  The cut looks good though.... Read Less

I have been going to the Aidan James Salon for many years. I usually go somewhere, find one stylist and stick with him/her. I hesitate to try anyone else. Fortunately, when I had to do that here, it did not matter. I have seen multiple stylists and they have all been fantastic. The staff is fabulous as well. There have been a couple of times that my stylist was running behind and I received phone calls asking me to come a little later. That is fabulous customer service!! I am so excited that I have found an amazing hair salon with multiple curly hair cutting experts. I would recommend Aidan James Salon in a minute.Read Less

I went to Aidan James Salon today to get my long hair cut short, and wow did Fanny do a good job! I feel so good about myself and any worries I had before about having short hair quickly disappeared. Fanny was professional and helpful. The salon itself has a very good atmosphere and all staff are welcoming and friendly. I've always looked forward to a visit at the Salon because I feel and look so good when I leave!! I recently had a very frustrating experience (during the holidays) when I called with a question and found that my appointment had been cancelled. The reason for the cancellation was valid and understandable but trying to reschedule during a hectic time of year (perso...nally and professionally on both sides) was not going well. By the time I got to Rachel I was beyond exasperated and uncharacteristically short-tempered. I want to thank Rachel so much for taking the time to talk with me, listen to me, and make things right. I have curly hair that is colored and high-lighted and both Derek and Wendy have spent a lot of time getting it right. I have gotten compliments from strangers who stop me to ask where I get my hair done? They often just say "I love your hair." Today was not a banner day for customer service at Aiden James. I went in to ask for "my" color formula as I was going to be ou...t of town and needed to have my hair done in a shorter time frame than what was available. I was informed that it was not their "policy" to give out that information. I did not want to argue about it because the silliness of it was not worth my time. I would definitely suggest that Aiden James review and change this policy as it makes no sense and because I am sure that I am not their only client that travels and may often need to see another stylist. They take your coat and offer you wine coffee water, whatever you want.I see terry graham (he is amazing, will 100% be a celebrity colorist one day- he's already on his way...winning awards and placing first in elite hair competitions) and he always gives me the most beautiful color. Not to mention the best hair cuts I have ever had. I am from boston and have been to the newbury street salons- this place looks the part but is BETTER. Terry (and from what I've see of other stylists from being in the chair) are familiarized with all types of coloring. Blonde, brunette, reds, ombré, funky styles and colors, etc....they can do it all! Terry started with me as very dark and took me all the way to blonde! He is honest with me but has never told me what i want isn't possible. Based on other reviews, I picked Aidan James this time around -- it was phenomenal! Everyone was warm and welcoming, and my stylist did not judge for a second when I told her I cut my hair once a year or so and almost always wear it up (I have had some snooty reactions before). She gave me a great cut, but she also rewet it just to show me step by step what to do to style my curls. All of the stylists in there seemed to have awesome relationships with clients...multiple stylists would approach and chat with one client. Overall a wonderful salon! Read Less

There are things I love about this place and some other things that I'm less crazy about. I tried here after reading good reviews online and seeing that they had won multiple awards. I wanted to develop a relationship with a stylist, but not spend loads of money getting my fairly short hair maintained regularly. I asked for a junior stylist or new talent. They hooked me up with John, who gave me an AMAZING haircut. Loved it. When I called to schedule my next appointment about 4 weeks later, I found out he was no longer there. Sad, sad, sad. But they reassured me that Erica would do a great job. She did. The next four times I went in. Then she, too, was gone. So they set me up with Maria, who was training under Felix, one of the master stylists. When I got there, I found out that Maria couldn't make it that night, so Felix would cut my hair at the junior stylist rate, which I thought was fair. He did a fantastic job--he is the bob MASTER. I saw Maria a few times, and she's done a great job four times and an ok job twice. The two times that I walked out feeling "meh" my hair still looked really good, but it wasn't quite what I expected, which I am completely willing to admit may have been due to vague communication on my part. My travel schedule at work got nutty and I needed to reschedule and wound up with Stephanie, who did a great job. I felt weird because they told me that Maria wasn't available, but when I got there, she was working. I didn't see her with another client: confusing and a bit awkward. I've found everyone there very friendly and professional. I like that they have evening and weekend hours, although they do change seasonally. Read Less

I have been seeing Becky for many years now, even back before she was at Aidan James Salon and I have not seen another stylist since. I commute from Massachusetts to get my hair cut because I don't trust anyone else with my hair. Every experience I have had has been 100 percent satisfaction. She is an incredible artist and I would recommend anyone to her in a second. Aidan James Salon has a great staff of talented and friendly people. The receptionists are polite and prompt with greeting people in the salon as well as on the phone. The artists are all very dedicated to their work and strive to provide the best service possible. The salon is not cheap but you get what you pay for, and the money is defiantly worth the quality of their work. All in all a big 10 out of 10! Read Less

I hate to put a damper on every other reviewer's enthsiasm, but I'm not a fan.  I searched out Aidan James specifically because of its great reviews and yearly awards.  However, my experience didn't measure up to my expectations.  Looks as though from the reviews here on Yelp, I should have asked for Derek.  My stylist was pleasant and professional (won't name them in hopes it was just me or an off-day for them).  I took in 2 photos and tried to be as specific as I could about what I liked and didn't like.  My stylist seemed to be listening and offered feedback.  But, alas, in the end, I have a rather average haircut that is by no means stellar.  I could have gotten (and have many times) the same average haircut in any mall salon.  It doesn't lay particulary well and I wouldn't get any compliments for this drab cut/style.  Furthermore, I don't like the products at all of the Arrojo line.  I got the shampoo, conditioner and volume foam.  I feel as though my hair is limp and lifeless and that's after even doing without the conditioner.  Oh, just an update.  I later learned that they had sold me 2 conditioners and no shampoo so everytime I reached for the shampoo, it said "conditioner" and I just "naturally" assumed that the "other" must be shampoo.  Still not a fan. Wow! I am so happy that I found this salon... and YES I did find it through Yelp, then I remembered seeing it in the yearly best of the best magazine from the Hippo! I had been jumping from salon to salon looking for the right stylist who would do what I wanted, and not be afraid to try something new on me.  Becky is great! She not only has a great personality, she is highly educated.  The staff works so well together and you feel like at home from everyone the minute you walk in the door. The place is clean and fresh.  Trendy, yet not intimidating.  Very cool- I can't wait to go back! Read Less
