Despite the mixed reviews, after living in downtown Dover for 2 years I decided to give this place a try. I got a regular mani pedi - I didn't know the price going into it until I got to the register - but it was $35. Seemed a little steep, but I am used to $25 mani pedis after living in NYC. They don't put a lot of effort into their appearance, but the quality of the work was pretty good. Thanks to God I found PRO NAILS after searched on google. I felt here more delectable. The location was very easy to find. They were picky to my nails. I came to Dover visit my sister and I found PRO NAILS. I absolutely loved this place. They welcomed me really warm. My manicurist was very gentle and didn't hurt me at all. My toenails were scratched, I wanted to fix it and finally I found PRO NAILS in Dover. I was very happy with my overall experience. The staff here was polite, they opened the door for me. One person would worked on your hands and another on your feet. The ladie who worked on me did a meticulous and fine job on my toes. The music here is not too noisy. The woman doing my manicure could have cared less about the job she was doing. She rushed through it and no one was even waiting. The nail file was filing my finger tips! In the end my nails were uneven and jagged. The whole time I was thinking about how I would need to fix it at home. It's cheap, but you get what you pay for. Best salon I've been to in Dover! Great atmosphere, great staff and great service! I came to Pro Nails with an idea and they did an excellent job on my nails. Super satisfied with my experience and my nails and and they do a wonderful job with my nails. They always offer a beverage and the massage chairs are great as well. They are reasonably priced, and they offer an awesome happy hour special. The owner was very friendly, got my daughter and I both seated and comfortably, with our preferred drinks. The spa atmosphere of the shop is what I loved. I tell you, for the service and the price, you can't beat Pro Nails. We are definitely coming back. Wonderful nail salon!!! I just very fun to visit this place, they are known for nail designs. And it is true, very satisfy with my nails. Everyone was very nice and helpful in giving me advices and suggestions for a perfect design. They don't chip or break. They kindness and skillfulness will definitely make me return for the next manicure. Prices are good. Their work is clean and everyone is professional. I wanted to try this place because it was close, despite the bad reviews. Unfortunately, the reviews were pretty accurate. You walk in and it's messy, disorganized, and there were nail clippings all over the carpet. On a Monday morning! It's not like they were in the middle of a rush and couldn't clean. The woman who did my nails rushed through the whole thing, didn't use cuticle softener, didn't use sanitized equipment, and was on the phone THE ENTIRE TIME. FOR A PERSONAL CALL. They did a great job on my Gel nails. The people were not super friendly and didn't talk much but I was okay with that, I'm not much of a talker. After my gel manicure they dipped my hands in wax which was actually really nice and relaxing and I've never had that kind of thing done before. I'll certainly go back! Read Less

EXTREMELY GENEROUS locally owned nail salon. They give you free tokens for the meter! (Eric even ran outside to put money in the meter for me when I forgot). I always come here because they give such a great manis and pedis, that last well over two weeks. The nail salon is clean and they do a very thorough job cutting cuticles compared to many other places I've been to. Oh! and they end your gel manicures with a moisturizing paraffin wax. I've been getting gel manicures for about 7 years now. When I visit Dover a few times a year, I always stop by Pro Nails. They always have the latest gel colors and  they produce quality work. The gel polish stays on my nails for at least 2 weeks- sometimes 3 weeks with very minor chipping. It's a small family business, and I am greeted by name when I visit, which I really appreciate. The place is cleaner than most nail salons that I've been to. They also give out free tokens for parking because they understand how hectic parking in downtown Dover can be. I broke the first cardinal rule of Yelp by not trusting the reviews of this place when I showed up... it was TERRIBLE. Poorly ventilated, used tools that were not properly cleaned and had to re-do my nails when I got home they were done so poorly. My girlfriend and I thought that by making a reservation we wouldn't have to worry about any issues you typically see in walk in situations. Not the case... I sat awkwardly for 20 min after one of the technicians started my pedicure for her to give a full manicure to a walk in customer before finishing up with my pedi and starting my manicure. My friend who came with me had it even worse...she had nexgen nails that she wanted to soak off, the technician proceeded to cut them down (without asking my friend if she wanted them shorter). then when we asked to have them soaked off, she responded with a resounding "no" and before we could get up and leave, she began ripping them off, which anyone who's has any type of false nails knows, hurts and ripped off the top layers of my friends nails.So in consclusion, this place was unsanitary, didnt respect any of our requests and I hope that future yelpers head this warning: don't go here! Went to get my nails done before my engagement photos. One woman (the owner I think) was all alone in the shop. I came in at 130, picked my nail color, and at first it was great, because I was the only customer. Two more people came in and she had to juggle between us. I got an acrylic manicure, which did not entail a manicure at all, as my cuticles were never touched. I asked for nails that were square, but not too square - a natural shape. My nails are so square and sharp they scratch me. The color is great, but is already bubbled and chipped and had before I left. No one came to help her until after 2pm, at which point I had been sitting with my hands under the air drier for 30 minutes and no one told me I was done. I had acrylic all over my hands, and when I pointed out how sharp my nail edges were, I was told there was nothing she could do unless she removed it all and did it again. I still had to pay and tipped because I feel bad not tipping for a service, but I will never come back to this place. Thankfully our photographer is skilled with Photoshop and can fix this nightmare. I don't know how they can get away with calling themselves "pro nails." I definitely have not had the experience of having a professional manicure at this place. I am new to this area. Normally, getting a manicure is a positive experience for me. I expect to be treated in a friendly manner, like a wanted customer. Not so at pro nails. I had been there once before because it had a great location and the price was right, but the service was all wrong. I figured I'd give them another shot. The second (and last) time I was there I did my best to remain pleasant, but the woman doing my nails was rough with me, had an attitude and plucked my cuticles so hard that they were bleeding! I've never been in pain before with a cuticle clean up, but this woman was rough with no remorse! Instead of being asked to select a color for my nails, she threw a set of pre-painted nails at the table I was sitting at and left me to it. The colors had no names and I could barely read the corresponding numbers. I like the know the name of the colors I choose so I can reference them later in future appointments. However, I will not be making any future appointments at this place. Normally, my gel manicures last me up to 3 weeks with no chipping or problems other than my nails growing out. I had a gel manicure from pro nails for about 4 days before it starting chipping on multiple nails (mind you, it's not like I'm doing manual labor or anything!). The manicure happened quickly so they get a star for getting me in the chair right away and finishing on time. I would give zero stars if I could. The lady rushed through my pedicure, didnt push back my cuticles, and refused to shave the bottom of my feet. I asked for acrylic on my big toe nail because it's messed up and he tried to take my actual toenail OFF. I had my daughters nails painted they looked awful, not to mention they wanted fifteen bucks for it. I said I wasnt paying and left. He followed me out of the store to my car, asked me not to write a review, and said I should "know my kid better" and not bring her for a mommy daughter pedicure. This place is terrible. I'd give Zero stars if I could. Had a reservation for 3 people, but they only had two people working. They should have mentioned this on the phone when we called. They rushed so fast I never had my cuticles done and no top coat. Such a rush job and still had to pay full price. Not to mention the polish started chipping the next day. This place is a joke. I am new to this area and was looking for a good place to get a gel manicure before my first fitting for my wedding dress so I could try out a color ahead of the wedding. In my hometown I go to any place where I can get an appointment so my expectations are fairly standard. Bottom line, I will never go here again.I walked in and no one was there, just two employees, and I immediately got the vibe that I was unwanted. One employee continued to watch TV and play on his phone while another waited for me to pick my color. Would have been nice if they put the TV on in front of me, or even music, the silence was super awkward the whole time.As the employee starts to take off the gel that I had already had on for about 3 weeks, if not longer, she starts scraping at it and asking me where I got them done, complaining that it won't come off. I've gotten gel manicures dozens of times and I fully expect it to take a bit of manual labor to get it off every time, that's just one catch with gel. She didn't have this same expectation apparently so after just a minute of trying she shoved them back into a pool of acetone to let them sit. Fine, I've seen better and more patient ways of doing this, but I have time.When she comes back, she manages to get the gel off my nails and starts to clean them up. Or, what looked like clean them up. I am not even joking, she never actually took off any of my cuticle, and there was plenty of it. She never pushed it back, never actually clipped any, and kept putting her tools into the same water that my other hand was being soaked in. This is gross! Just gross! She's actually "cleaning" her tools in the same water that my hand is soaking in. I quietly remove the tool and place it along the top of the bowl, out of the water, and she decides that she's going to put them back into the water. I genuinely feel grossed out and now a little annoyed. I decide to suck it up and leave the tools there.Maybe I annoyed her by moving them, but really? I decide that a good manicure for my money on this particular day (the morning of my fitting) is all I want and I'm not feeling this place. So I ask her if she can just clean up my nails a bit and I actually won't be getting a full manicure "due to time". At this point I KNOW she is mad at me because she doesn't ever actually clean them up - there's still some gel on my nails and I have the roughest nail edges of all time.Before I even put my coat on or pay her, she's taken another customer (the only other one there, they aren't busy). I ask her how much I owe her and she demands the full payment for a manicure. I say, "...but I didn't get a manicure?". She replies "it's still the same price", to which I ask "so it's the same price just to get the gel off?". I am actually shaking because I am new here, disgusted, confused, and now angry (in that order) so I put down my money, proclaimed that it was ridiculous and I walked out. Maybe things are different in Dover but I have never, ever paid full price just to get gel off. I am typically charged $5 for that and it includes cleanliness and quality when taking it off and cleaning my nails up. I would have been fine with $10, but not $20. $20 makes absolutely no sense.I will never, ever, ever go here again. I managed to get a last minute appointment at Statix immediately following and while it was more money than I would have paid here, it was so worth it. This place is not worth trying. I made appts at 9am for 3 pedis and manis as we had a wedding to attend that day.  We got there in time.  There were only two people working there and both were working on customers.  We had to wait about 10 minutes before getting put into the pedi chairs.  Myself and my two daughters were all next to one another.  One male worker went back and forth between the two girls.  There was a lot of waiting between the two of them.  The female worker then came to my chair and began what seemed like a very rushed pedicure.  She kept looking at her watch.  When I inquired about the girls getting some art on the toes, she said that there wasn't any time for that.  I found that pretty rude as I had made an appointment in advance.  We weren't just walk ins.  They didn't have enough staff on and had booked other appointments close to ours.  I told her that I made appointments and that I would like art for the girls.  The whole thing experience was rushed and really unprofessional.  I absolutely will not return there. I have been going for pedicures for years and I have never had a problem. I went to this place on a recommendation of someone and got a fungus on my toes. I lost my entire toe nail because of the fungus that I got from this place. I highly recommend going somewhere else because it is not worth the hassle. The pedicure wasn't even that good. Went for pedicures today with my mother. 2 pretty sisters Jennifer and Holly did our pedicures. They were friendly, capable and fast. The place is very clean and welcoming.
