Wish I could give them 0 stars, one of the workers there I was going to for years one day I go in for a fill and noticed hes swaying a bit and smells like alcohol, wasn't till after he was done filing the acrylic I realized he was drunk. My nails were soooooo janky a messed up, I immediately told him to give me my money back and went next store where I had to sit in the chair for 6 hours to get them removed and shaped. Those girls were astounded by my nails they were so bad. I know for a fact he was drunk because he has suggested giving a baby a sip of Hennessy that he had in the back he said, after that it all clicked. I would not recommend this unprofessional place. I ran in hoping they would still take me even though I arrived at closing time.  They were nice and said yes and to have a seat. A few minutes later I was gestured to a table to start my manicure and french-tip gel set.She kept asking if I wanted a mani or just the polish.  I guess I am used to them being as one, so of course I wanted the mani. My nails were ragged ! (It was an extra $7 for the mani, $25 for just gel nail polish set)  She went straight to business, and I was ready in 30 min. No fuss. Quick and easy.  Looked nicer than my usual place that uses the pink nail polish.  There are no blaring tv screens, no complimentary beverages - but for the price what is there to argue. Come in, get it done, and out ! Perfect for me who had just come out of work, couldn't find any other place open  and wanted to be back home with my baby as soon as I could. Happy Nails indeed. The lady I had was rude and jerked my hands around. She didn't follow any of my directions and my nails ended up looking like complete garbage. They're all completely different lengths, they have sharp rough edges, and it shows they did as minimal work as possible. Forty-five dollars is a very great price to pay for nails but I've bought glue on nails that look and feel better than these. And these nails were about forty bucks too expensive for their quality. I wont be getting my nails done here ever again and I suggest all those who want nice nails to avoid them as well. Its too bad I am forced to give them 1 star cuz they deserve none. Read Less

I'm new to the area from Los Angeles and just needed a quick gel manicure. I haven't found my official go to nail salon so I'm checking places out for now. This place is down my street so it was super convenient. Price was decent for a gel mani, $27 and their work and equipment was clean. The main lady is super weird though. As a client walked out she started talking shit about how that client complained about her work. Super unprofessional and rude. 2 days after I got them done, my pinky nail gel piece completely peeled off. I came back to ask if it could be fixed and the main lady told me "you have to wait I can't have people stop working just to fix one nail" so god damn rude. I like this place! You can't go into a salon like this expecting to be pampered like at a place that charges $60 for a spa pedicure. I personally enjoy the efficiency and lack of small talk. No, they aren't  trendy or lavish, but they get the job done and I always have a nice experience.  Prices are great and they are always smiling. They might juggle you with another customer, but they do a great job handling it. A big bonus for this place is they have all their gel polish on a little palette so you can actually see what it will look like, and not have to open each bottle to decide.  Its probably preferred that they clean their tools a little better (for manicures, because they DO use the autoclave for the pedicures). But it honestly doesn't bother ME much.They seem to have many regulars, including me! They know most of their customers by name. Read Less

I found this salon clean and the people greeted me right away. The 1 star is for the girl who did my nails only, well, except that the owner did let it happen. She set her phone up on her tray and carried on a Skype conversation very loudly in Vietnamese, pausing often to laugh and include another girl in the shop in the conversation. I could hear the Skype conversation also and I felt like my being there was incidental. She rarely even looked at my feet! Needless to say it was a very sloppy job and I had to remind her to do the base coat. The second she was done she told me to get up get up and move to the front, even though no one was waiting.  It was not relaxing in the least. I will never go back. Got my nails done here, I was looking for something different from the square nails I usually get. I showed him a picture of what I was looking for and he pretty much nailed it. .I love them,  they are not big on conversation which kinda makes time seem to go so slow but that's a small price to pay for beautiful nails. This place is absolutely horrible!!!!!!! I told them I had gel polish on my nails 3 times and they were like "yea okay" and then when she found out I had them she got mad and charged me $10 extra to remove the gel. And she left me sitting in acetone for 10 minutes, and my fingers were burning, because she forgot about me, and started working on someone else. So she didn't even give me a manicure. The pedicure was awful, the polish was pretty much see through and its a neon pink China glaze which I have, and I know it can be a solid if you do 3 coats. Had to tell her to put a base coat on. They charged me $35 for a basic pedicure and removing my gel polish, when they said it would be $30 for a mani and a pedi. This place needs to shut down or hire someone who speaks English. Read Less

Although the staff was hard to understand and not very personable, I enjoyed my experience here. I went in for a pedi and mani. The pedicure chair was comfortable and the pedicure itself was fine. I usually like more of a relaxing feeling and they seemed a little rushed. But my manicure was awesome. I tried the shellac polish and loved it! Its been two weeks and it still looks great. Had a very nice experience here today. Came in at opening and was taken right in. The pedi was wonderful.. Foot and leg massage - the works! Then on to a full set of gel nails. Anna was very patient as I had no clue as to what I really wanted. After choosing a red and gold glittery holiday theme she set to work. Now  I'm not really well versed in the mani pedi world but I feel Anna really took her time to be sure my nails turned out just the way I wanted. They are beautiful. Pedi is $25 that's not $ more like $$ anyways good pedi but getting my nails filled and I can already tell my nails aren't going to last sweet lady but not good with fake nails its very busy here so I'm sure the other nail techs are good but if anyone has any recomendations for nail techs here please share. I was disappointed with the service. I've never been to a salon where they don't massage your legs or feet. She put hot towels on my legs and left them. Never even rubbed the legs let alone a massage. I paid $30 for them to scrub my feet and paint my nails. I can do that at home. I won't be going back. Read Less

I started coming here about 6 months ago and new instantly I had found my new nail tech. I have been to other places and always went home and "fixed" my nails- filing, shortening. (I can be quite picky and do realize that one can only tell the nail tech's so many times what needs to be fixed, before they become agitated and really ruin them.) Rude from the very start. Expected me to know exactly what to do..didn't tell me what the service included..then when I asked if they could do a different color than the one in the airbrush picture..they were just rude. Filed my nails too thin and the acrylic burned my nails. Super think and blunt ugly edges..so I can't even scratch a dang itch! Plus the polish looked terrible. I had to rush home and take the polish off and re-file cause it looked so bad! I might go to another place to get my nails fixed tomorrow....very dissapointed! Read Less

I have been a client of Ty's for over 2 years now. He is the only person I will let touch my nails. I tried other places in Reno and every one of the did not pay attention to my nails and damaged my nail bed and/or skin around my nails. The other experiences I had- another client's hair in my nails, gel nails not being filed off and being ripped off my nail bed ( that is extremely painful and ruins your nails instantly, not filing ), the skin around my nails filed off, and had several break off. Ty pays attention to detail and blends the nail to look natural with your skin instead of leaving the acrylic where it sets, creating a sort of gap once the nail grows out a bit. He also uses different tools for my sensitive skin instead of the typical kind he can use on everyone else so I won't leave with the skin on both sides of my nails filed off. I also have paper-thin nails, so he's careful when clipping and filing. I have never had any of his nails break on me, they last through gymnastics, shooting, and atv riding. When he first started working on my nails, he told me the characteristics of my nails. I thought it was routine for your skin to be filed off and to be in pain when filing your nails, but little did I know that everyone else that I had tried before just wasn't paying attention.He has the most return-client basis that I have ever seen, and he knows everyone by name. He works 7 days a week, and expects perfection out of his work. He uses only the premium products, what shows to last the best for his clients. If you are happy with his work, then he is happy. If you have a problem, he simply wants the opportunity to fix it. He cares very much for his clients, and realizes that they are the reason for his business. There is not one complaint I have against him, and I genuinely think he is the best in Reno. Read Less

I have been getting acrylic and gel nails put on for many years. One day I decided to get them done when my usual manicurist was not available so I stopped by the nearest nail salon that looked clean. BIG mistake. The manicurist I got (Ty) filed my nails so thin that it burned and layered the acrylic powder so thick my nails look deformed and ridiculous. He also placed the white tip (which I specifically said I did not want) very far down on my nail bed. I hated my nails. At the point when I would usually have my nails filled I decided to have them taken off due to the quality. My regular manicurist did this procedure and she was appalled to find that since he had filed my one nail so thin, the acrylic had eaten through my actual nail and I am now left with a pussing, raw hole in the middle of my index finger on my right hand. Very painful! I hope that this review will stop someone from making the same painful mistake that I did! Needless to say I have also called the State Board of Cosmetology. Read Less
