I was there last week with by sister the day before her wedding, I received a manni/pedi and she needed a blow dry as well as a manni/pedi.  We were there for 3 hours which was not expected, even after we explained that we were in an time crunch they didn't seem to care and took their sweet time, answering phones, having conversations etc.  Trulie was friendly and all but she was not able to give a proper French manicure after trying many times, my sister said forget it and  just had her do polish.  Also her toes were not great and the polish chipped that day.  It was explained to the hairdresser just to blow dry and brush curl, but she used a curling iron and burned the scalp of the brides head.  The price was crazy expensive for the poor service.  I would never return. Went to Serendipity Salon for an emergency mani/pedi and was paired with Heather Compel(?). Worse pedi I have ever received. None of the usual "stuff" that I expected, like leg massage AND the polish that was used last four days! I have never had polish chip in four days, especially on my toes! The service cost me $85! Had an incredible mani/pedi somewhere else for $55. Would never go back. I mean really? Forgot to mention that after service Heather told me that she only accepted cash. Trulie was spectacular. I walked in and she was able to fit me in little bit later. I had gotten a pretty bad gel nail job done at a different salon but she was able fix the terrible shape the other salon had left my nails in. She was patient and insisted on being gentle with my nails and getting it right this time. She was also sweet and great to talk to. I cannot recommend her highly enough. Read Less

I can only yelp about owner Kathi's services. When I lived in Incline Village, Nevada for a year, I insisted on having my kinky-curly long hair blown straight two to three times a week. I HATE sitting in the chair almost as much as I hate doing my own hair, but Kathi is fast--accomplishing what takes less experienced hairdressers an hour or more in just about twenty minutes. She is consistently good, always finds a way to fit me into her jam-packed schedule, and is very reasonably priced. She also dyed my grays the perfect shade of brown everytime! I called for a pedicure last min before my trip to Mexico, I had to talk to 3 different people on the phone till I got an answer. Finally I was the last apt of the night and the girl would not stop talking about how it was her day off, if that was the case I would of taken my business else where. They don't have message chairs and the girl used a metal bowl to put my feet in Luke warm water. The pedicure came out ok but the chair was very uncomfortable, it was hanging off the wall. Like a fold down seat. Then when i left she charged me $45 for just a pedicure. After that the girl ended up running my card twice and charging me $90. I left for Mexico the next morning and didn't have cell service there, heck I was on vacation. After I got back I checked my bank and saw i was over charged it took about 3 weeks for me to get my $35 back because I left a $10 tip, that now I'm wishing I didn't. If you want to get your ear talked off and an ok $45 pedicure this is the place. Read Less

I have never experienced such a complete lack of service at a place of business, I was treated  so rudely at the desk that I  left without getting the pedicure I was looking forward to.   I was told that my gift certificate would not be honored and offered a much less expensive manicure instead.  I went two doors down to Sierra Bella salon, where they squeezed me in right away and were so friendly and helpful. I went and got my hair done last week and I noticed a cockroach crawling on a hairbrush! They drop their combs on the floor and continue using them. I also noticed they do not use barbicide. I have a feeling they just reuse their combs without sanitizing them. Days after I had my hair done I decided I would never go back there. I am a server at a local restaurant and the owner Cathy came in and sat in my section. She didn't recognize me and was so rude!!! I think I have had enough of that place. Read Less

I must give the salon two stars for the good manicures and pedicure we received, but I would give no stars simply for the poor service.  I was visiting the area for my sister's wedding from Los Angeles.  I called the salon for nail appointments a week early, and because I wasn't yet sure of a set schedule, and not wanting to have to cancel at the last moment, I asked if they would accept four walk-in manicures on a Friday.  They assured me that this was fine and that they would be happy to host us if we called a day in advance.I did this and was able to schedule an entire afternoon that they assured me would be "cleared just for your family."  However, the day of, they called and asked me to move the appointments to an hour later, but stated we would be taken care of and would be able to make the 4pm rehearsal.  Going into the appointments, we were lighthearted and happy to have it working out, but left feeling frustrated and the target of their criticisms.Upon arrival, we had to wait for the pedicurist to even begin another client who "schedules her appointments months in advance" but was running an hour late. We shrugged this off, and worked with the woman giving manicures while waiting for the bride to have her pedicure. However, when the bride did begin her pedicure, the woman was complaining about how tired she was, how long this day had been, and how she was doing US a favor...true story!  After finishing the bride's pedicure, the pedicurist hung around, folding towels, and bumping into us, until the bride realized she was waiting for her tip. After giving her the minimal 15%, she left immediately. The woman giving the manicures was nice enough, until she asked me personal questions regarding my religious beliefs and laid down judgment on my sister the bride for living with her fiance before marriage.  Wow. I was simply stunned.  We attempted to make our somewhat inflexible schedule work with the salon's schedule and give them business, but in the future, we will not return.  Which is a pity, as the bride and in-laws make frequent trips to this area. I am still to this day unimpressed with the interior of this salon. There is dust everywhere. I have had bad expierence with coloring here. Jill is amazing. The best thing there. Hmm, I wonder if Jessica D. and Sara J. might happen to work at a competing salon? So sad that they would resort to Yelp-bombing such a sweet family run salon like Serendipity. Both joined within 2 days of each other, have only written one review (extremely negative), have no profile picture, and are both FULL OF BS because Kathy and the other stylists at Serendipity are the sweetest group of ladies you could hope for!I have probably gotten my hair cut there well over 50 times over the last 10 years and I always came away with a good haircut and that warm feeling you get after getting caught up on what everyone in the community is up to. I highly recommend Serendipity, and encourage readers to take the negative reviews with a heaping bag of rock salt! Read Less

I have really course, curly hair, and over the years have tried to find a stylist who could handle it. A few years ago, I started coming to Kathy religiously because she is the only person who can get my hair to co-operate. I find the review below to be really weird because I just can't imagine someone actually allowing themselves to be burned repeatedly, and for all the years i have known and come to Kathy, i have been nothing but pleased every time. I let Cathy touch my hair once. BIG MISTAKE! She told me she was going to do a new technique called ""baking in the color."" She applied the color, wrapped my hair in foil, then preceeded to ""Bake"" my hair with her straightening iron. In other words put wet hair dye on my hair, wrapped it up real tight to my scalp with the foil open on my scalp and all the steam from it burned me. Not just once, but ALL OVER! I had nasty puss blisters for the first few days that turned into scabs for weeks! I came in the next day because not only did I have blisters on my scalp the color that she had ""Baked in"" was uneven and looked horrible. She was not in that day, so I showed the girls who were working, they all three agreed that was not ok. I had to have it fixed by someone else in her salon, they told her about it and she has never tried to apologize for it or even acknowledges it even happened! I have seen her alot of times since then. This was in April of this year (2009) over six months ago and my scalp still is dry as a bone and flakes constantly where she burnt it. Kathy is my stylist and i am always totally pleased with the results. She's been doing my hair for years, and there's a reason i've stuck around. Based on the other review, i would suggest sticking with the owner because she really knows what she's doing. I been to this salon a few times before! i tried the new cute little couple there they are very sweet and fun to chat with! So, if thats all you care about when getting your hair done then they are PERFECT!! But my hair i wan't to be blonde, and she said it would be no problem we might have to (tone??) it after but I would love it! Well I dont love orange hair and after being there for 4 hours of her trying to FIX it (my hair was fine when i went in) I had to leave I did have dinner plans but differed them to a later date because I could go out with my hair orange! The back is died and wants to break off but in the front I still have roots! They deffinatly need to stick to that Half off rate for alot long then the first service! Maybe with the first service they should offer if they mess up they will pay for you to fix it at a salon with a pro!!! Read Less

I walked into this friendly salon, and felt so welcomed. The staff was very helpful, I got my hair colored ,they are very knowledgeable ,cut and styled and I love it. The manicurist did gel nails and I have colored tips, and then I had some waxing by the esti, a very great job by all' Go see them. Read Less
