I've been searching for a good salon in Springfield for about 6 months now. I've gone to US Nails and VIP Spa for full sets and fills. Remember I am a college student and don't have a lot of money.Everywhere was closed or busy except Star Nails, I thought "Hm why aren't they busy? Bad Service?" My roommate and I walk in and were welcomed and sat immediately. I needed 5 acryllic nails removed. A lady working on my nails was rough. She used a nail tip and her own nail to remove the old nails. It hurt and I think some of my natural nail was peeled off as I was complaining about the stinging and burning. The rest of the Full Set Service was fine and how I wanted. I had shellac gel painted on.Then came the Pedicure, which was phenomenal and great. A long leg and foot massage, done by a man working there. My toes were cleaned and I also got a Shellac Gel on my toes too. The Employees were very nice and social which I loved! When I went to pay, I was given a total of $76. I have never paid that much for shellac, pedicure, and full set. I have been trying to find an official Service Menu from this company and have not found one. I looked on the website but am not sure about legitimacy. Also There is a star nails in St.Louis that I go to and do not pay nearly as much as I spent at Star Nails in Springfield. Very friendly and professional. Clean business. They did a great job on my acrylic nails, and she was super fast at it even. She helped me choose the design that would go good with the colors I wanted, and I love it. She took me ad a walk-in but didn't make me wait. Plus she felt bad for me because we'd just had a horrible experience at another salon with my daughter so she didn't even charge me full price! AWESOME PLACE! Definitely going here again. I have been going to Star Nails since they opened, around 11 yrs. to Nina. It is over a 100 mile trip for me each month. I am very particular about cleanliness as well as great service. Star Nails delivers on all accounts. The shop is always tastefully decorated and the employees very friendly. I recommend them to everyone. Read Less

First time I have gone here. They were done super fast. I got acrylic nails and art on both of my thumbs. The lady that did mine, cut me on every finger and a deep cut on one of my thumbs. When I got home the art was all messed up because she didn't let it dry before she put the gloss on top. I had uneven nails and had to file them myself when I got home. They hurt for days afterwards from the cuts and how hard she filed. Honestly I have had people still in cosmetology school do better! Don't go here! Read Less

I have been coming here for a couple of years when I am in town...the gals are always friendly and great! My nails always look good and I have no problems with them ever!  L.R. below poster came in when I was there, with an attitude and was demanding money back without letting them fix it for her or help her out. Ignore her review.  The store is upscale, relaxing, and clean, and the price is good!  The gals always make sure you are happy.  I love the designs they hand paint, they do such a good job!! I've been to this salon 3-4 times now, and I've never had a problem.  The employees are always nice, and will even tell you what they think might look good on your nails.  I've never had to wait for service, but I always go during a weekday afternoon.  My nails always look great afterwards! This place does not even deserve one star. I went in for a shellac mani but what I got instead was a complete nightmare! I had shellac on from a few weeks before. I assumed they would soak my nails in acetone to remove the previous mani. Instead they took a nail file to my nails and also used thier own nails to try to scrape it off. Multiple times I had to jerk my hands away in pain because they were filing my nails so much it felt like they were going through my nails. I asked them several times to try something else because they were filing my nails down too much but they just kept saying oh no it's fine your nail strong! I should have walked out but my shellac was already half off. So instead I endured more pain bc I thought okay they do this every day surely they know what they are doing. I was wrong. Then they put on the shellac so thick that it was very uneven and wavy on my nails because the polish was thick in some areas and not in others. Plus she started the polish so far down on my nails it looked like it had already grown out for about a week or more. Then after all of this the shellac started coming off the very next day!!! Now five days later shellac is already off my nails and half of my nails have broken off so far down they have bled. My nails are bending like crazy because they filed off so many layers of my nail. My nails are rough with huge indents where they filed too much off. They look awful, hurt and the only thing I can do is wait for them to grow out and start all over again. I went into Star Nail yesterday (April 6) & was so relieved to find a place open. When I went in there was only one woman(I'm not sure on her name or if she was the owner) there to perform services, she was very nice & she seemed very attentive. About 15 minutes into my service another client walked in, and the nail tech began to rush through my service. I asked the woman multiple times to take her time, I also asked her to repolish several nails and she did not. While sitting under the dryer examining my nails I realized how horrible they looked. The acrylic was crooked, not filed down properly so all of my nails were uneven, & there were so many coats of nail polish that my nails looked as if they were melting. I was unhappy that the woman rushed through my service & I asked if she would redo them. The tech got even more upset & asked me to leave her establishment. I would not recommend this place. Read Less
