I cut my own hair horribly for my birthday in Thursday in Branson, where I live. I took a suprise visit to Chesterfield for thw weekend and surprise... Wanted my hair fixed! I called over 6 places and stopped by 3 other places in town that couldnt get me in. Finally got a nice lady at a salon who told me about Mary Cates Salon. I called and got an appointment with in the hour. It was a total God thing that I got Carlie B. Carlie not only understood the weird haircut I wanted..., she also was amazing to my 2yo in tow (which I got turned away from a salon in town for)... She did an AMAZING job on a freaky haircut and was spool super sweet about my nit picky changes. In the end I got exactly what I wanted in a very timely manner and her price was FANTASTIC. (I noticed around town they wanted more than a day of my works pay for a cut!) I absolutely love Mary Cates Salon.  I have been going here for years and I am always happy when I leave.  My color expert, Kristel, is phenomenal at color and I am constantly being complimented on my hair after I leave the salon.  I have never had a bad cut either.  I've also had other stylists cut & color my hair whenever Kristel is not available.  I would highly recommend Kristel, Kelly, Mary, and Meggie.  The salon is well decorated with great energy.  Mary Cate prides herself, as do her stylists, on quality customer service.  Once you've been in a few times, it's like you are family.  The receptionists know who I am and always take great care of me when I arrive offering a refreshment and whatnot.  I've never had a bad experience but I know for a fact that if someone was not happy with anything.... Mary Cate would bend over backwards to fix it.  It's just who she is.  I also know that the stylists regularly attend hair events and continuing education to always know the latest trends and styles and cutting techniques.  The stylists at Mary Cates are highly educated in their field & enjoy coming back to share with clients their newest information learned.  I've even gone so far as to post video after my last 3 color appointments just to share with everyone how fantastic Kristel is with color & cut.  I am always happy when I leave and feel like a million bucks!  Trust me when I say... WARNING** DO NOT GO HERE. My sister and I went in for highlights, cut, and trim. We left with brassy/orange hair (the toner was too strong and lightened our natural brown hair to orange) and blue-tinted silver highlights, plus our hair was cut crooked. The stylist tried to fix the color issues but could not. We left with messed up color, uneven cuts, not blown dry and not styled. For $250 each. We called the owner, Mary Cate, and she said she would investigate and wanted to see the hair in person. I emailed her the pictures and agreed to meet her but then she had no one to work the desk and could not come. She offered to refund me 50% or fix the hair herself. I said, "I do not have confidence in yourself as your employees are a reflection of you. I would like a full refund as my hair is ruined and I have to pay someone to fix it."Mary Cate said, "lauren told me you are never happy with your hair". (Mind you this was my our first visit and the pictures speak for themselves). (This comment was obviously said by Lauren to defend her work to her boss. As a side note, I repeated to Mary Cate that Lauren was sweet and clearly made a mistake but wasn't capable of fixing it and I hold Mary Cate responsible as the owner/manager/boss, not Lauren).Mary Cate repeating the comment that my sister and I are never happy with our hair was meant to insinuate we were lying or trying to steal money despite the picture evidence of how our hair looks. When my sister confronted Mary Cate about the inappropriateness of her comment Mary Cate said she would no longer give a refund. I am a professional in the community and will be telling this story far and wide so other men and women do not leave the salon looking worse than before they entered and out $200+ The pictures speak for themselves. **Mary Cate has added comment to my post. The truth is she repeatedly said she had a "process of investigation" for anyone who calls and "tries to get their money back over the phone." Today I visited the salon with four young girls in tow! While I was getting my hair done they were able to fit the girls in between appointments. They were very kind, professional and we loved the end result for all of our styles! We even had the opportunity to meet Mary, the owner, and she was very down to earth and great with the girls. I love this salon! I had gotten a horrible hair cut at a different salon and went to Ashley to see if she could do anything to make it less terrible. She did such a great job on my hair even though she did not have a lot to work with. My hair is super curly and hard to cut, but she was some how able to work a miracle on me. Lauren Bridges gives an amazing facial, and I love her hair cuts/styles. I went to Lauren for several years, and was always amazed at her razor cut skills. After moving to Tennessee a couple years ago, I was recently back in St Louis to attend a wedding, and to visit old friends and haunts. So naturally the day of the wedding, I booked facial and hair appointments with Lauren. I went in to get a partial highlight while my hair dresser was on Maternity leave. A nice young girl was my stylist. She was new/a recent hair grad, but that was fine with me. I left the shop with wet hair (my mistake) and when I came home, there was not the slightest change in my hair. I was at the salon for TWO hours and I came home with the exact same roots, but more damage. I went back to the store to show the manager and I dealt with a Tracy. Tracy was extremely rude and said "do not come back because I do not do business this way!" when I showed her why I was not satisfied. This woman lacks any customer service training, any sort of respect, and belongs in a trailer park-not an "upper class" salon. I have called both locations for Mary Cate to give me a call to discuss and have not heard back. Don't waste your money here. Mary Cate- if you have cameras in your salon, (if not, I would highly recommend getting a few) please check them for the date Ashley Montgomery went in and asked for a refund. You will see how Tracy speaks with respectful, unsatisfied customers. Please choose your hires more carefully because that ruined my experience at your salon for me, not the nice girl who messed up my hair. Those things can be forgiven, disrespect cannot. Yesterday was my first time visiting Mary Cate Salon. I am always very nervous when it comes to my hair from horrible past experiences but I really needed my hair done before my wedding so I made a last minute appointment. They scheduled me with Kristin. I walked in having second thoughts on whether I wanted to trust someone with my hair or not. Kristin welcomed me with a comforting smile & was extremely nice! I sat down & started talking to her about what I wanted done and l...et me tell ya.. It was A LOT. I expected her to tell me we couldn't achieve all this in one sitting and it would take multiple visits. NOPE! She told me different ways we could do it & also educated me on caring for my hair after (I really appreciated this.) She wasn't pushy with buying products (which I hate) and took really good care of me. I was absolutely blown away with how my hair turned out. I walked in with extremely matte, dry, damaged hair with a hot mess of color. I walked out with shiny, healthy beautiful hair. She added so much dimension it was unbelievable! I decided to buy the Moroccan oil shampoo and conditioner repair along with a leave in conditioner from Redken with a heat protectant. I washed my hair this morning with the products and can already see the difference in my hair with two uses! I can actually run my fingers through my hair while its wet (I'm definitely going to buy a wet brush like Kristin used on my hair as well, it was awesome!) Kristin is the real deal! I loved my hair dresser at Mary Cates Salon for years! From when I was in high school to after I graduated from college, my mom and I both went. I always left loving my cut, trim, color whatever it was! Though my hair is easy to work with, my mom has curly, frizzy hair that was difficult to work with but still had great success when we went to Mary Cates. Unfortunately when my hair dresser was on maternity leave her understudy ruined my mom's hair. From the dye job to the cut..., it was ruined and completely off from what my mom always received. When my mom confronted Mary Cate with customer service inquiries for her $300 worth of ruined hair, Mary Cate couldn't be bothered to offer anything that would take care of this situation. In return my wonderful hair dresser left on her own terms and has personally taken care of the mistake that wasn't hers in the first place. As for Mary Cates Salon, I will not be putting my hair in the hands of someone that does not acknowledge mistakes made under their watch and who does not express concern to take care of her customers. The salon decor is elegant and warm, and they even had some nice background music playing to set the tone.Right when I arrived, I was offered a complimentary beverage and a comfortable chair to relax in for my hair cut. For some strange reason, I start feeling ambitious right around 2 am. Yesterday (or I guess today) I decided I absolutely needed straight blunt bangs instead of growing them out like I had originally planned. 10 minutes later, with the help of youtube, I had myself some nice crooked bangs. I admit, I went to bed teary eyed (I get dramatic around 2 am also).Today, as I went to Dierbergs in disguise, I happened to pass by this salon. I stepped in and lucky for me they had a spot open right away. I love the atmosphere here--very cool vibe with complimentary drinks. They have this hair bar where people sit to get their hair colored--I dug the clever concept. Bridget was AWESOME at fixing my bangs. She gave me tips and listened to what I wanted, all without scolding me for butchering my hair. She also gives complimentary bang trims. No doubt, I will come here for my next haircut.
