This is my go-to nail salon in Chesterfield. I have been a number of times and always received a fantastic manicure. Each time I walk in, I'm offered a refreshment and feel instantly relaxed. I really love getting the dip powder - it lasts me 3 weeks or more without getting chipped or damaged! Not to mention, it is at a reasonable price of $30 for a basic color. On occasion they will add a parrifan dip at the end of the manicure which leaves my hands feeling soft and silky smooth. The owner, Jason, is attentive and remembers his customers, which makes me feel valued as a returning patron. I've been going to NL since they opened. I usually call ahead to get the first appointment of the day. If I walk in and it is busy, I chose to make the appointment and return. Lisa is the tech who does my nails. She knows what I like. I must admit that her daughter in law is better at nail designs and will often do mine. Lisa always asks me if I would like additional services. If I decline, there are no hard feelings. I find Lisa and her family to be very kind and nice. I will continue to be a patron. Read Less

I have been going to August 1 Nails for a few months now and they are the best I’ve ever gone to, and I’ve been all over St. Louis. I always see Jason, he does such an exceptional job. He’s friendly, professional, perfectionist, and each time my nails look amazing! Today for the first time I got chrome nails! I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. I got the pointy shape and a rose gold color and I can’t stop staring at my nails. What I like most about August 1 nail salon is that they are always offering the Latest services, colors, and they clean up your nails so well! Stumble upon August 1st Nails on my way back from the outlet mall, my first impression was the welcoming atmosphere here. Everyone working here is so friendly. Have been here a few times and it's been good but the past 2 times have been awful. They are so rude here, they pick which customers they want to be nice to, they try to pressure you to do services that you don't want, and they rush and do a crappy job. Will not be returning. Read Less

I arrived at the salon at 12:05 pm, today. I was told it would be a 30 minute wait and she asked if I wanted to come back. I stayed I was in my lunch break and I would wait. 20-30 minutes later, I started to get up and she excitedly asked if I was coming back later. I told her that I work across town and I'm not leaving. I'm the mean time, someone who came in after me was called back to get her toenail polish done. Finally, after waiting 30-40 minutes (no big deal, I expected... to wait) I was called back. The lady starts removing my nail polish and repeatedly hits the skin in my fingers with the sander. I didn't say anything. She gets the polish removed and then mumbles something and gets up. Then she goes and starts working on another lady's (who also came in after me) pedicure. I sat there at least 10 minutes or more while the other lady (who I assume is supposed to come do my nails) is just walking around doing who knows what. At 1:15 pm I get up and walk out, After sitting there with no one telling me what's going on. They knew I was on my lunch break. Customer Service 101 is you take care of customers in the order they arrive. You don't start working on someone else before you finish the person who got there before them. I will NOT be going back. I hate leaving bad reviews but feel like people should be aware of a situation before they walk into it. Today I was scheduled to have a full set (with Gel) and a pedicure.. I was greeted by a younger gentleman and I picked out the color for my nails. My pedicure went great the little lady was very sweet polite and did an awesome job once that was over we stepped over to the station to start my nails now the same lady that did my toes began with my nails.. I had previous poli...sh on my nails that she didn't get completely off before she started putting the tips on -that drives me crazy- but I just let it go thinking you won't see it.. so then she proceeded with putting the tips on.. Meanwhile the gentleman that greeted me at the door walks over laughing saying that they don't have the color I picked out on the shelf while I'm halfway through the process of getting my nails done no turning back now.. so I'm sitting here like umm I can't really do anything right now well he ended up stating that they had the original polish that he couldn't find the gel so I just agreed that would be fine had I known I wouldn't have even gotten my nails done there as this is all for a wedding this weekend.. So we established the color now it's time to trim the tips I tell her I like them very short as I work with my hands she said ok cuts it I ask for shorter she cuts a little off I'm just like ok whatever that looks great then she goes to file them and bless her heart I don't know if she couldn't really see or what but on one of my nails one side was higher and then one nail was shorter than another and she asked me what do you think and I was just honest with her and said can you please just make them even and showed her what I was talking about she then hands me the nail file... so here I am paying for a service when I'm having to file my nails.. then we get through all that and I'm just ready to leave and the other lady there keeps looking over at us and she is talking to my lady -not in English- so I don't know what they're saying to each other then the other lady asks if I'd like to go ahead and pay and I told her that I would wait until my service was over so then she starts talking to my lady again -can't understand what's going on, not in English- then she goes to paint my nails doesn't put a primer on she did put a top coat on so I'm proud of her for that. Ok so after all of this I was ready to get out of there and asked for the dry spray... I don't even think she really knew what that was or had ever used it.. needless to say I had quite the experience wouldn't recommend this place to any friends, family or clients. The first 2 times I went in there I had a pretty good experience, but today I went back and it was absolutely horrible. There was a new guy I hadn't ever seen before and he did my pedicure, it was horrible he definitely didn't know what he was doing. He would do something to my feet and then every few seconds he would grab his pants. He didn't complete the whole pedicure, my sister next to me was getting one and he didn't do everything the normal lady would do. Well I didn't ...say anything because I had good experiences before then. Well we go over to get our nails done and someone starts working on mine and my sister is just sitting there waiting for the next nail tech, well after a while the new guy that had did my pedicure decided to come sit down in front of her and start working on her nails. He kept hitting her skin really hard with the Dremel, basically rubbing just as much skin with the Dremel as he was nail. The guy doing my nails even looked up for a few minutes to watch him like he was in shock he was doing nails, as was the other lady doing another girls nails, she kept looking at the man. Instead of them saying anything to him about the fact that he should not be doing nails since he didn't know what he was doing, they just let him. So I got up and told the main lady he didn't know what he was doing and she made him stop. As I was getting my nails done, I was looking at their licenses on the wall and there was not a license at all for that man! This is one of the best nail shop i had been to in the chesterfield areas. I really like getting my manicure and pedicure done there they are so good at what they do. I also really like the way they do healthy nails. It always come out so nice and natural looking. The worker there are all good at what they do and a plus that they are all so friendly and helpful making me always feel welcome when i visit. Must try this shop out everyone, you will agree!!
