My friends and I went here on Saturday. We came in and they were pretty full but hey we weren't in any hurry. The man in charge tried sitting us separate from each other but we said no. A lady came in and walked out and he literally chased her down and said they could get them right away. She said no a bunch of times. Any way my 1 friend and I got sat down right away while 1 other friend had to wait. I got a younger guy who didn't speak any English which is fine but as he put this callus cream on my feet he was saying things about my feet to the lady next to him and she looked over at me. I apologized for my horrible feet repeatedly. I am a house cleaner and I don't do this often. It made me feel horrible about myself to say the least. I wasn't a huge fan of this place. A few of the ladies here were awesome but sadly I got the not so nice guy. Also my friend and I have a really sore back underneath our shoulder blade. We kept thinking what the heck happened. The worst nail salon I’ve ever been to. I rarely write reviews but I felt strongly about letting others know about my experience here.The staff acted like I was a nuisance when I walked into the door and insulted me on how short my nails were. I really liked this place--they were clean, up to date, and did really well with my seven year old niece. I picked this place because they offered child sized pedicure chairs, and I was not disappointed. They weren't pushy at all--they would ask the basics like, "Do you want your hands done too?" or "Do you want a flower?", but they never pushed it if I said no. I didn't give it 5 stars for a couple of reasons--it was very cramped in there, and both at check in and during the drying time, we were just kind of left with not much explanation as to who/when/how much to pay or how long to leave our feet under the dryer. I am a super picky person with my nails, but I've received unbelievable results in the past therefore my expectations are of that anywhere else I go. This review is for a gel manicure and regular pedicure.PROS:- super clean place - very chic vibe - owner and managers are very nice- lots of bonus services - good hand and foot massages - they do a nice job cleaning up any polish that's out of line - they take their time and don't rush you out the salon CONS: - personally, I don't like my gel polish to be thick and it's always applied thick here - my polish never lasts as long as I feel they should. After 1 week, my nails chipped even with the gel still on top. After a week and a half my polish already started peeling. My pedicure also only lasts about 2 weeks.- I'm very particular about the application and like my gel polish to be applied all the way to the side of my nails- I can't stand when the polish is applied up and down, and then the nail tech goes sideways to ensure the nail tip is colored. I appreciate the want to be accurate, but my nail tech didn't go over it again (up and down) so in the end you could see the different strokes. I had a dark red polish. - The last time I went, the nail tech was on her phone the entire time which I did not appreciate. I choose to not touch my phone or talk on it when I get my nails done out of courtesy and I wish my nail tech did the same. She did use headphones, but would stop sometimes to change or select a new YouTube video. She also took a call while doing my nails which I found a bit rude. I have been here several times, every time they are in a rush...  on the phone, talking to other employees while they are doing your nails.. today my experience was the lady on the phone 6 Times... talking to family and scheduling appointments... left me to go help another woman.. checked the time 5 times.. the guy at the front kept talking to her and having her be all distracted.. and was in the biggest rush ever all when she was doin my nails!!! and my nails suck...I think when you pay a fair amount of money to get your nails done you expect the service to be good and or at least to have your nails look good! The atmosphere of this nail shop is tasteful, modern, and appealing.  I asked for a basic pedicure and a gel manicure.  They ushered me to a foot station immediately and the water was ready but she did not ask how the temp was.  It could have been a little warmer.  She immediately asked me to pick the type of pedicure I wanted off the sheet.  Nowhere on that sheet was a "basic" pedicure so I am not certain if they offer something below the 37.00 price point which was the lowest price listed and so I went with peppermint .  The service provider quickly started trying to "upsell" me on the gel polish for my feet.  Oh it dries quicker, blah blah.  I told her I was not interested but thank you for offering.  My toenails could have been clipped down a little but I did not say anything.  She did not offer much assistance with the massage buttons on the chair either.  My main complaint was with my gel nail procedure.  I got absolutely no massage during this and not once did they have me wash my hands which was weird.  They also expressed disappointment with my lack of cash tip as I asked for them to add it to my card.  I will continue my quest to try and find a decent nail shop that is consistently wonderful for the price. I don't normally write these types of reviews but...this was by far one of the worst experiences at a nail salon. First, don't give a pedicure with cold water, don't forget the water is running then come back with a trashcan and try to remove the "cold" water before the client takes her feet out of the water scratching her with the plastic trashcan, do not ask the client to pay before her toes are dry. These are just a few big no-n0's. I explained this was the first time I had been to the salon, didn't seem to matter. Sloppy, rude, unprofessional-no thanks. I will not return. I went in to get fills and the lady cut my nails super short when I told her she didn't say anything and when I told her the manager he didn't do anything about it and said next time just let me know!!! Don't believe the 5 star reviews you see... SO disappointed in my service received yesterday. Coming from out of town for my fathers funeral so I wanted to relax before things got hectic. Me and 3 other family members went in to get serviced, with me getting a pedicure. The main guy, I'm guessing the manager, told us that it's is better to get a gel pedicure since regular polish takes forever to dry, and once again we were on a time frame, so we opted for the gel pedicure which was $47 rather than the $27 for the regular. The place is pretty! Don't get me wrong but the service is HORENDOUS. I picked out a dark glittery rose gold color that wasn't translucent on the swatch, but when it was put on my toes it was see through, which I hate, & I asked right away after the first toe to see if it would stay translucent and my nail tech (young Asian man) didn't understand, so he had to get the "managers" attention and I asked again, if it was going to stay translucent and he said no and he let my guy know what my question was. At that time my nail tech started to put thicker coats so that it wouldn't be see through. I thought okay no problem he knows what he's doing. He then only put my toes under the uv light for about 30 seconds each coat, which I know isn't the right amount of time since I've been trained in gel mani/pedi procedure being a cosmetologist, but hey give the benefit of the doubt and I'd rather not stress over it since there are greater things I had to worry about. When it came to the top coat he put each food under 3 times ... weird. At the end the finished results didn't look bad, but he kept touching it and then told me it was okay to put my shoes on. Now less than 24 hours later my toe polish is completely peeling off like little girls polish does. I went in to request a refund, because let's be honest I have no time to sit for another 30-45 mins for you to redo it when I'm here for once again for my fathers funeral I have much greater things to do & if you couldn't do it right the first time how do I even know it would be right done the second time? The lady even said "yea gel not dry" yet you still won't give a reAs a hairstylist myself I know how important customer service is, and they had none from the time that the First Lady greeted us to the ugly smirk on the second ladies face when she told me that she wouldn't refund my money for my service that you can't even call a service since it's ruined now. Tip for management: focus on quality over quantity, because you won't have quantity for long with the quality. The nail selection is limited with any quality nail polish. What they have looks like it was picked up at the 99 cent only store. This should have been my clue to run back out the door!I visited Tu Nails & had to wait over 1/2 hr before being seated when I was never told of a wait in the first place . Once I was FINALLY at the station it took another 15 minutes for an employee to come there to BEGIN working in my nails. The salon is beautiful however, the service was not. The woman doing my nails continually stopped to answer her phone or text. She was not paying attention to what she was doing and cut my finger. When I asked for another person to finish the job, the tech began (literally) yelling at me. The "manager" came over while eating a sandwich but was not very helpful.  The first tech kept yelling at me the entire time my nails were being finished. Brought my adult disabled son for pedi while I got a full set.  Felt a bit insulted as nail tech kept commenting on my "wide nail beds, man hands and how she didn't want me to look like an animal".  Wow.   Then when my son's pedi was done I am pretty sure she was gossiping about him to my nail tech right in front of me.   Not going back,  I don't like places that treat paying customers so rudely right to their face and can't be polite about a person with a disability,  my son is actually a kind and friendly person and he has much more tact and common sense than to treat people this way.  Very disappointed.   The salon is nice and the  other employees seemed professional.  Lots of choices of gel color. This place is amazing! As an avid mani/pedi goer from the cities, I've been to every fancy nail salon in Minneapolis and the surrounding suburbs. To Nails blows them all out of the water. Their spa pedicures are unbelievable! They take their time and give excellent leg and arm massages. By far the best pedicure I've ever received. This place is horrible - I'm not happy with the services I received today. I'm pregnant obviously I will have bad calluses but this is completely unacceptable her work basically made my feet worse - these are pictures when I walked out of the salon - obviously I came here to get my heels clean and if they can't do their job why should I pay them my hard earn money? I wanted to give this place 5 stars, and if I were giving a rating on service alone, I definitely would. But it was VERY off-putting that when I was paying, the lady kept insisting that I use their ATM to give her a cash tip instead of adding it to my card. I was not interested in doing that as it would have been several dollars in ATM fees. She was literally refusing to run my card with the tip (they have done this for me there before and at pretty much every other salon on the planet). We were visiting Woodbury for a weekend wedding and decided to go for a mani and pedi.  As walk ins, it was busy, but the gentleman handling appointments checked the schedule and asked us to come back in just under an hour.  We showed back up and they had two chairs ready.  The pedi took an hour itself, which was amazing.  The staff are extremely friendly and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing.  My only suggestion is the front lobby area could stand to be spruced up, as first impressions mean everything.  But once back to the chair, it was perfect.  I'd go back there! I don't understand the negative reviews.   This place is great. If you hate a quiet,soothing atmosphere with upscale decor... don't go here.   If you can't appreciate the hardworking Asian culture, don't go to a nail salon.   But if you want premium nail service with attentive technicians... this is a great option. Been here a few times.  Staff is friendly.  It is a little pricey, but it is also much more luxerious than the normal nail salon.  The key is to make an appointment so that you arent rushed.  They saw my daughter and I before buisness hours.  It was fantastic and relaxing. I don't get my nails done too often since my work doesn't allow for me to have nail polish on. I was excited about finally having the opportunity to get them done since I was off work for a couple months. I was rather disappointed by how long my manicure lasted (less than 24 hours- the nail polish started cracking and started chipping away) I called the next morning to tell them about my nails and they happily fixed my nails for me. I got a gift card for Valentine's day from my husband. He went in and asked how much a pedicure would be and they told him $30. I decided to use my gift card today as we are moving and I thought it would be relaxing! When I got seated the woman handed me a laminated card, so I could pick my pedicure. All the pedicures were over $30, so I don't know why they told that to my husband. I didn't mind paying a little extra for relaxation, but it wasn't that relaxing. The women were gossiping in their language and I could tell they were talking about the clients. Very unprofessional!!! Plus the woman that was doing my feet said maybe 5 words to me. When I went to pay I realized there wasn't a line for the tip and I didn't have cash. So, I was going to let my nails dry and go across the street to my bank and get cash for a tip to bring back. The women were starring at me and talking, which I knew was because I hadn't tipped yet. One woman approached me and asked if I liked my pedicure. This left a bad taste in my mouth and I didn't go back to give a tip with all things that went wrong. I am not going back and I would advise people to look elsewhere. Read Less

Not as relaxing as it could have been. My clerk was so busy watching the front door, paying the repair man, answering the phone, jumping up and down, leaving my station, talking to other clerks over a wall that the leg and arm massage was sporatic and not fulfilling. I was pleasantly surprised when my daughter and I had manicures and pedicures at Tu Nails. The staff was warm and welcoming and did a fantastic job on our nails. My daughter's nail technician was so good with her and made her feel comfortable (she's a bit shy). We both had gel on our toes and my daughter had gel on her nails. I went here for about 3 months and strongly advice people NOT to go here. A couple months back I noticed some slight discoloration at the base of one of my nails. Not being a nail expert and this being the first time in my life upkeeping an acrylic manicure, I trusted my technician when she said it just looked like I had dry nails and it was nothing to worry about. Last week I had my acrylics removed because I was worried about the health of my nails, namely the one that was discolored. I went to the doctor after fully being able to see how gross it looked with my acrylics removed and turns out, I had developed a slight fungal infection at some point! Lucky for me, the affected part of my nail has now grown to the middle of my nail and the new nail is looking healthy, so the doctor said I have nothing to worry about. BUT SERIOUSLY!! Nail technicians are supposed to be trained to recognize nail conditions. Now I have a 3/4 of a fingernail that wants to completely peel off and it looks disgusting!Infection aside, I had called ahead the day I got them removed to double check what their procedure was for removing acrylics, as this was the first time I'd be having them taken off. They assured me they'd soak them in acetone in order to safely remove them. NOPE, my technician started popping them off with the edge of an acrylic tip and had removed two of them in the time it took me to ask "Aren't you supposed to soak them in order to take them off safely?" To which she replied that it would take too long, like half an hour to do so. I pulled my hand away and said I didn't mind how long it took, that I was more concerned with the health of my nails. She went and got a bowl for acetone and proceeded to NOT TALK TO ME the rest of the time she removed my nails, even after I made an attempt to say thanks for taking the time and that I was just being a worry-wart about my nails. She didn't look at me or speak me the whole rest of the time.Thanks to this experience, I'll never be getting my nails done EVER AGAIN, much less going to this establishment. The pedicure started out normal with a nice foot soak. The massage chairs are new and were probably the best part of my pedicure. It all kind of took a turn from there. The man who was handling my pedicure randomly left me three different times. When he would come back he kept forgetting which stage of the pedicure we were at. Which means he missed some steps and you can tell by the uneven toenails I am trying my hardest to rock. He barely spent any time massaging my legs. He didn't even massage my feet!! What is a pedicure without the foot massage??? After the "massage" he took a phone call while he was painting my nails and then he disappeared again!! I get my nails done when I'm out of town quite a bit.  It's something to do with my non-working hours.  I like Tu Nails.  They took my friend and I, who was having her very first pedicure ever, on a walk-in.  The place is very nicely decorated with a relaxing spa theme.  It was also very clean and hygienic.  I mean, they line the pedicure tubs with a fresh plastic liner each time.  The prices are based on what kind of pedicure service you get, but overall seems to hover at around the $40-50 mark.  It is more than I am used to spending, but it was worth it considering all the little things that make up the pedicure.  I certainly didn't feel cheated.  My friend who was having her first pedicure absolutely loved it.  I would definitely come back here. I originally wanted a full set but had no time for it since I had work in 45 mins from then so I asked for gel. My nail technician got upset because I had changed my mind. I went in after hearing some decent things about this place. This past Thursday I decided to try them out... Worse decision! First, the woman who was doing my nails - Hannah is what she told me her name was- said she couldn't do the nail color and design I wanted a simple white nail with gold.. I already saw the colors so I know she was lying and she made my experience feel rushed. Secondly, not only four days later one of my nails broke off. So quick it was a shock that it happened. I'm almost hesitant to write this for fear of them being overrun by so many new customers that I can never get an appointment, but here we go. Earlier today I got a pedi/gel mani at Tu Nails Woodbury, MN and it was easily the best mani/pedi of my life. Untill today I'd never been here. The space is brand new and beautiful, and the pedi tubs were wrapped in things that looked like shower caps (changed with each customer) to prevent gross stuff. Super comfy massage chairs and everything was super clean. Relaxing music (no tvs) and little waterfalls built into the wall that separates the pedi area from the mani area. The staff was super friendly and efficient from start to finish, and my nail tech was awesome. I get some scary callouses and she tackled them like a pro. Fabulous leg massage and my toenails are perfect. On to the gel mani. This was my first. I never get manicures in general because I always screw them up before I even get home. I've had acrylic/gel nails in the past and they always looked too fake for me so I was nervous about this gel polish thing. To clear up any misconceptions, a gel mani is a different thing than gel nails. The only things different between a gel mani and and a regular mani is it takes a little longer, it's a little more expensive, and between coats you have to stick your hand in a little light box to solidify the polish. And when it's done, your nails are perfect, dry, smudge-proof, and unless some tragedy befalls them (i.e. operator error), beautiful for at least two weeks! So there's my review. No one paid me, no one asked me to write this, I'm not getting any kickbacks. I just know that when I'm looking for a new place for services that last slightly longer than say, dinner, I love nothing more than a review from someone who takes the time to include details. Super clean, very professional. I hardly ever get my nails done, but last week I was in a very "treat yo self" mood and decided to go for it. I had about an hour to kill in the east metro, so I started looking up nail salons on Yelp.I came across Tu Nails and after reading the reviews decided to check it out. Very glad I did! My nail tech did an AWESOME job with my gel manicure - she was super thorough and made sure I was happy every step of the way.I'll be back!*Note: Bring cash for a tip if you're using a card. Definitely not a big deal, but there was no where to tip on my credit card slip and the cashier asked if I had any cash.
