This was my first time getting permanent make up done. I got micrblading and 3D microshading. I HAVE NO COMPLAINTS. I was greeted with refreshments and the technician answered all my concerns/questions. Also not to mention that my eyebrows look EVEN BETTER than when I do them with make up. I’m sorry. This is a nice salon and it could have been a great massage, but my masseuse should learn to shush! If you’re going in for your own body aches you don’t really want to hear about her back disc problems and toe problem, and neck problem from an accident. And you’re going in dealing with stress and want to relax you don’t want to hear about her crazy mother who would never tell her who her father is and she has to look for all this info after mom dies. And husband who lost his job, etc., etc.!!!! TMI!!! The receptionist was also not very friendly. Shelly, my masseuse brought me up to the counter after expecting me to book my next massage and make it a 90 minute one and she would give me 15% off. Sorry. Love 90 minute massages but not if I️ have to listen to their life problems. This salon must be related to The Excelsior Spa and Salon. Run things exactly the same and ran into the same problem with not very professional crazy masseuse there who went on and on with her crazy stories. Read Less

I saw Karen for lash extensions - who is very nice, personable, and I am sure does a great job at her other esthetician services.Unfortunately, I am really not happy with the service I received.Please note: this is not my first time having lash extensions applied and I have maintained previous lashes (with up keep) for 8+ months at a time.  I had planned on up-keeping these lashes with your establishment until I saw the final result.Everything seemed fine at first.  We did need to remove and re-apply/position the lower lash tape and gel pads as the first time it caught some of my upper lashes. Which is no big deal.I did feel like she was spending much more time on one eye than the other, but as I had my eyes closed (obviously); I did not question her process.Upon completion, she removed the eye tape and pads & I was unable to open my right eye. It had been partially glued shut. She had already handed me a mirror at this point, so I could see and feel that my eye was not opening. She told me it was fine and just the lashes until I had to tell her "no- seriously I can not open my eye." She asked me for the tissue she had given me at the beginning of the appointment (which I had wiped my face with and then held for two hours) and she used it to pry open my eye.I sat up to review her work & commented that I am used to a more dramatic look. I asked her why there were no lashes at the outer corners and she told me they never do lashes at the outer corners. I asked if the outer corners were done with the "cat eye" look; assuming I perhaps asked for the wrong eye look at the beginning of the appointment. I was informed even for the "cat eye" they do not put lashes at the outer corners of the eye.Thinking I could maybe salvage my lashes for this weekend (it's my joint bachelor/bachelorette party weekend in Vegas **yes I told her this was for an occasion & discussed coming back for other lash options- volume etc before my wedding).  I asked what mascara I can use with the lashes. I was informed I cannot use any mascara as I would then need to use an oil based remover and it would ruin my lashes & I would need to use a cotton swab or rub too much to remove.As someone who has frequently had lashes before - I know this isn't true & was hoping she was going to have a mascara that is water soluble on hand to sell me (bonus points if it is from the lash brand she just applied- I was ready to shop if she had recommendations or an 'upkeep kit').  I do know mascara is only okay for nights you want to "go glam" or when you need a fill to fill in spots between appointments, but saying I could not use anything is simply incorrect.At this point I was ready to leave. I got down from the table and gathered my things. She then said "wait we need to set and finish your lashes."   Um, What!?She then proceeded to apply a line of "sealer" to my eyelid/lash line, hold a fan to my face for 5 seconds, then set with a tiny steamer for 5 more seconds.   I have never experienced the "final set" this way; typically this is done before the eye pads etc is removed. Maybe you guys do it different....I do wish she would have gone further into my inner corners as well (which are also not even); but I can live with that. I am more disappointed with the lack of lashes on the outer corners and how disproportionate they look.In conclusion, I understand if someone is still learning a new skill- I have worked in or with the beauty industry for over 15 years.  That being said, if they are offering services by some one new to the field or "in training" that should be noted to the guest so their expectations are managed and they are not expecting 5 star service. Honestly I would have gone somewhere else for my last minute appointment. Perhaps more training on the service itself, product knowledge (salon proprietary), and the cross sale/up-sale for their retail products would help. Read Less

Booked a massage at Wayzata Day Spa with a Groupon. Called to see if there were appointments and the receptionist said there was an opening at 4:15 pm which was in a half hour. I said that would work and arrived right at 4:15 pm. Receptionist gal looks at me and says my appt was at 4 pm I said the other gal told me to get there at 4:15 pm so the gal tells me not to worry. I was seated and was waiting for a long time - I worried that this would cut into my service time so I followed up with the gal at the front. The front gal had to go find the massage therapist. Eventually she came out and let out a big sigh. I didn't feel welcomed and she wasn't concerned with my service time. Let's get to the massage service which was another hot mess. The massage therapist was super focused on why the spa's music stopped working and I kept telling her I was fine without it. In addition, when I asked her if I'd be getting the full hour she rudely replies that I was 20 minutes late. I said no when I booked this the gal told me 4:15 pm and I arrived on the dot. I asked her if this was communicated to her and she said no and tells me we're going to 5:15 pm so I was unhappy that was only getting 45 minutes for my massage. The massage was all over the place and sloppy. The lotion used felt and smelled like cheap lemon cleaner. After the massage therapist massaged my feet she then massages my face without washing her hands. Nasty! And she says she's been doing massage for a long time. I came to get a massage to feel relaxed - instead it was stressful, unprofessional and gross with the feet to face thing. Facilities and location are nice but I'm disappointed  with my experience. Massage was nice and relaxing. Hairstylist was nice but I asked for a layered cut past my collarbone and left with a shoulder-length bob. Not the haircut I asked for, about 3" shorter than I wanted. Kay microbladed my eyebrows the other day and the transformation is incredible! I have the eyebrows that I have always wanted. We haven't even done the final touch ups and I'm still in love! I did months of research on artists who microblade, Kay is definitely the best in town! I recently got microblading on my eyebrows. It's basically permanent make up for your eyebrows. I'm beyond thrilled with the result!Kay did an amazing job. I felt very informed about the procedure. I can't tell you how great it is to go swimming and come out of the water looking like the same person ;-) or to take a shower and still have eyebrows.Definitely one of the best things I have ever done for myself.I also get my nails done at the salon. Such a disappointing experience! The customer service is abhorrent and the front desk "manager" has a poor and snotty attitude and lacks any capacity to listen to a client's concerns. She acts accusatory and annoyed, and that's putting it nicely. Wayzata has a salon on practically every block of Lake Street, as well as several others throughout the city, and I highly recommend going to literally ANY other salon! Christine (again, the "manager" who as no authority to actually resolve any issues) told me she would escalate my disappointment and concerns to the salon manager and a week later I have yet to hear from the salon manager. What an extremely disappointing experience, especially considering that they are up against some very tough competition from several other talented stylists and well-managed salons within walking distance and you would think they would want to stand out with excellence. I wish I had read other reviews and spoken with my girlfriends who have since relayed their poor experiences with this salon (they had subpar nail services, mine was hair related). I had a GREAT experience here last week & pretty excited to share (typically, my hair salon experiences don't leave a good impression with me)!(btw, I forgot to "check-in")FIRST, you must know that my method of trying to find the perfect stylist is already questionable when I try to save money & search through Groupon (I STILL have an experience I'm brewing about from last Fall that I'm trying to cool off about). THIS TIME, I had a victory!I saw the Groupon a couple of weeks ago and decided to book an appointment right away (I've been training myself to NOT buy for the unknown future based on a good deal). Booking was simple & painless.When I arrived last Friday morning, I was greeted by the front desk and offered something to drink and a place to sit. While my appointment time started approx. 10 minutes late, it didn't bother me (it was a super-sunny morning...that makes everything okay).The stylist that I had was Courtney Schwirtz. Extremely upbeat, cheerful, personable, and most importantly (in this case), GREAT with the sheers! She was in her early-twenties, so I initially thought this would be another one of those "Groupon hair outcomes" that I've resolved myself into accepting (c'mon...haircuts are overpriced anyway!). I was immensely overjoyed to find that I was wrong. Courtney listened AND delivered!I have (had) REALLY long hair. I generally go in to just clean up the ends & maybe vary it up with a few layers. Somehow, the stylists I've seen in the last few years all try to feather the ends where it looks even more straggly. I had Courtney cut off 3-4 inches and asked for something that wasn't a blunt cut but NOT feathered, and a much healthier look at the bottom. She nailed it. She even asked if I wanted her to style & curl my hair. Why yes! Bless you!She didn't try to upsell me on product or anything else (besides pre-booking next appt w/ a 10% discount, which is great).This would have been a 5-star, but the only 2 factors that took it down was the 10 minute late start and that they don't use natural hair products (I prefer salons that have less toxic products). At then end she was not able to deal with it and needed help from their "master". I was getting a blowout for my date later that night. The lady stylist (I believe hey babe was Michelle m. Maybe last name Marsh...) apparently did not know how to use a simple curling iron and make it look good. Left with so many crimps from the curling iron and just not looking good or fabulous AT ALL!!! the only reason I went here was for a Groupon, do I guess I got what I paid for (probably LESS!!!); Very unsatisfied. Was suppose to get a massage and facial. After I was checked in and waiting to start. They say the lady doing your massage is having car problem and you can either leave and come back later or have a hour and a half in between. I had already driven 30 minutes so I wasn't going to leave and comeback. Had the facial sat around for a hour and a half waiting for my massage. When she finally arrived she didn't even say sorry for being late. Nothing not a word. The massage was not good. She put me in the room and didn't come back for another 15 min. I have been to this spa many times for nail love.  It's wonderful!  The technicians are always so warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere is posh yet comfortable.  They have the best nail polish - it's free of a lot of chemicals that other brands have yet stays put longer than most polish does!  One day I brought in two 3 year olds for their first manis, and they opened up the private room for us and treated us to a fun morning.  Highly recommend! Now this is what a salon experience should be like! I made a last minute appointment for a full foil because my hair needed some love for New Year's Eve. When I arrived, the staff was immediately attentive and helpful. They took my coat, made me coffee and I then met my hair stylist Dorian. This is the best foil I've ever had done! He was extremely thorough in spacing out the foils perfectly and explained what he was doing to achieve the color I wanted. After the foils were complete, he took the time to ensure my curls looked perfect too even though it had already been close to three hours. I left the salon feeling like a new woman, and booked my next appointment for a partial foil with Dorian. I highly recommend visiting the salon and if you are looking for a great hair stylist, book Dorian! I'm also looking forward to trying out some of their other services in the future. I purchased a Groupon for a facial and massage. Called the spa and easily made an appointment for a Saturday afternoon. The therapists were gentle and professional. Both the massage and facial were relaxing and I loved the entire experience. I've received many massages before and Terri was quite possibly the best massage therapist I've ever had. She even used hot stones for a few segments of the massage and it felt glorious. Terri is strong, confident and obviously very experienced. Jessica did my facial and gave me some skincare advice. The location was easy to find through Google Maps. The salon was nice and clean. Complimentary drinks, (wine - with groupon that was available) Receptionist was very friendly and helpful. The other staff I came in contact with was also nice. Another guest had her children there and each staff who came in contact with them took great care with them with drinks.JEAN! JEAN! JEAN! If you are getting a Mani or Pedi, Jean is awesome! She is such a sweet woman and she took her time with my nails. I was really unsure about using regular polish or Gel. I used regular polish and didn't like it, she had no issues on applying Gel instead. She is all about making the guests happy, I loved her for that. Id def recommend her. Read Less
