I used a groupon and I think that I got assigned to Marni  (who had admitted when I was in that she needed to build clientele).  I have short hair and like a casual look.  Unfortunately I got a VERY crooked haircut and when I called to schedule a revisit, I wouldn't be able to get in with Marni for a week.  Because this was over the holidays and the salon is not open on Monday, I would have crooked hair for 2 week.  I asked if someone else would be able to do the fix but because this is a chair rental salon, I would have to pay for a second cut.  I asked if I could schedule with the owner--but he ONLY does color.So I'm off to Cost Cutters to get a fix. The staff was very pleasant and my haircut and color turned out quite cute. However, I tend not to judge my salon experience by solely the cut job, considering how hassle-free my hair is to work with and the simplicity of my request. For me a relaxing, soothing atmosphere that elicits cozy warm fuzzy feelings is critical for a salon to earn an above-average Yelp review. Unfortunately, I found Metropolis utterly dull and nondescript with not the slightest bit of effort being put forth into design or atmosphere, even to the extent where a neck rest at my hair-washing station kept popping off. Dee gave me the worst haircut of my life! She washed my hair, cut the length, dried and styled my hair with a round brush then layered my hair from underneath. The outcome was complete uneveness, worse than an old shag haircut. It will take me over two years to grow out the layers even enough to recut. These are chair rental stylists and they want to re charge their customer for another stylist to correct a bad haircut. Double Whammy! I left in tears and won't be back. Avoid at all costs. Loved, loved, loved my massage with Heidi. She really created a massage session that was specific to my needs. She adds great extras with the hot stones and complimentary paraffin treatment on my hands. It is a great environment as well. located in lake minnetonka area in deephaven is well worth the drive if you don't live in that area. My skin is very important to me, because I've been treated for skin cancer and WAS a sun worshiper. Jenny Berg, an Esthetician at Metropolis is great, she knows exactly what my skin needs. I believe she has really slowed, and even reversed the signs of aging on my face and hands from years of being outdoors. I also have a college age daughter who sees her for acne. I can have my hair done, nails, massage, facials, waxings, makeup, all in one place. Occasionally, I will need ""the works"" before a special function. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable.
