So the place definitely is not cheap, but I am really happy with my hair. I went there for the first time and Breanna was the stylist who did my hair. She took her time to listen to my concerns, added some comments about what she thought would work best, and did an exceptional job. I ended up looking exactly how I wanted to. I also think that everyone was very pleasant when I was there. Once again, I did pay more than I have for similar services so far, but I will be going back because I appreciate the service. Read Less

I HATED my last 2 experiences when it turned into Day Lily- one of the front girls was snotty! I am an ex- stylist for over 10 years! I thought I would treat myself! I asked for a root color- hair cut, highs and lows! I got a newer girl who told me she was there for a year! Highly unlikely! We went over the consultation- obviously I tried to make it very simple, being I've done this for a LONG time. Told her exactly what I wanted! I explained that I usually color it myself but mainly wanted high lights! I also said I wanted more highs then lows, She came back and told me if I wanted to strip my hair I could come back another time! WHAT! Again, I explained exactly what I wanted! She has a trainer who she consulted Color with- mind you, the trainer NEVER looked at my hair to double check the color she wanted to use! Finally starting after 40 minutes of being there. I told her when she was washing it out it's gonna need to be toned- she said no- it was good! I said you may want to check with your trainer -who had left already! I get back to the chair for my cut, take the towel off and I have NO highlights- ( mind you she never checked foils while I was processing) I said, I have no highlights- she said let's cut it! I had to ask her twice to cut my layers! Still no highlights popping! I looked the same except now I have hot roots!! I must have argued with Beth, the manager- in the end I did pay for a haircut and left a tip😡"I was told that day lily was probably not the color salon for me". I couldn't agree more since I couldn't even get something as simple as highlights! They couldn't get me in before the weekend to fix it- I went to Headlines down the road on Friday- she had to recut my hair - it was so choppy and in some parts not cut at all. They put highlights in and fixed my roots in just over an hour! I wasted 3 hours of my life getting tortured at Day Lily that OVER charges and doesn't care about the customers... Read Less

I would not recommend this salon.  It may be an Aveda salon, but it's just your typical run-of-the-mill small town salon.  I went there while on vacation and stopped in to see if they could do an ombre color on me.  The woman at the front said they would, and that an instructor would be there throughout my service, with a stylist. I went in there with healthy blonde hair and left with very dark brown hair that looked frosted at the bottom.  The instructor was there for the first 5-10 minutes, and then I never saw her again.  The girl that was doing my hair admitted (half way through) that she had never done this color before!!! Yet she didn't consult with me at all throughout the service.  I paid hundreds, and then left and spent another $100+ buying products to fix it (and killing my hair).  My hair is ruined.  If you didn't have the skills to do the job, you should have never agreed to do the job. DONT GO THERE FOR COLOR UNLESS YOU LOVE SUBSTANDARD!!!! I asked for an ombré look and was told a stylist could do it, with a trainer's help. When I got there, the trainer was there for the first 5 minutes, but not once did she come back to consult the woman who was doing my hair (an ombré color like one she admittedly had never done before). I assumed the "trainer" would be there along the way to guide her. I showed them SEVERAL photos of what I wanted. What a JOKE. It looks NOTHING like ANY OF THE PHOTOS. I left looking 10-20 years older with frosted hair, and feeling SO UGLY AND EMBARRESSED. I don't even know how to "fix" this. My blonde hair is now GRAY!!!!!!!!! She even asked to curl and make my hair full of body after I told her that I hate body and love stick straight hair (at this point I couldn't even give a sh&$). And then asked to take pictures of the back of my hair so you can show people your first time doing this? Humiliating. You have to realize that sometimes, people are too nice to say no. I look like a 50 year old from the 70's (no offense, but my mom had this look in the 70's). I had already clearly communicated what I liked and didn't like 🙄 You did NOT deliver what your customer requested. Period. You should have noticed this train wreck of a color job..... I worked at Aveda as a temp 25 years ago and my husband modeled for Aveda several times. I I really don't think that this salon fits the standards of an "Aveda" salon. 'A' for effort, but WHERE WAS THE TRAINER???? And if no one was qualified to do it, they should have just told me. Several hundreds of dollars later........grrrr. #so disappointed .......now I have to pay someone in Minneapolis fix this flipping mess. #failmichellekenric Read Less

I made an appointment for a perm. The price was exactly as listed online, which was a plus. They were also able to squeeze me in for an appointment within 48 hours of me calling, which was another bonus.The space was tidy and had a warm, earthy feel to it. All the staff seemed friendly. They offer a wide range of services. My perm turned out beautiful! It's been a month and it still looks good as new. I would highly recommend this salon to friends. Read Less

Huge disappointment. I purchased a gift certificate for my girlfriend to get her hair styled and colored the way she has always wanted. First visit her hair turned green. The second visit her hair was orange. I was then told I would have to pay more to get her hair the blonde she wanted. The salon will say they want to resolve the problem for you, well it will cost you. DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME, I've seen headlines salon do it. And they cut homeless people's hair. Please go there. I was a member of a bridal party and we all went to Michelle Kenric's to get our hair done for the wedding.First time getting my hair styled at a professional salon, usually I stick to the beauty colleges. To my surprise and horror, my stylist was unable to do two simple braids in my hair for a half do. When I am paying $60 plus tip, I would hope that the stylist knows how to do hair. It was a very underwhelming and disappointing experience for me. Luckily my friends were able to do redo my hair before the wedding ceremony. One went as far as comparing the stylists job to a middle schooler who was learning how to braid...bleh. I will keep going to the beauty colleges, lesson learned.The four other bridesmaids and the bride had gorgeous and professional looking styles. Read Less

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend for the price and service provided. I booked the same service for both my sister and I; and while I'm glad she received what she did, I would think we would have the same services. We had the express pedicure. I received exactly what was advertised - the bare minimum, while my sister got a nice foot massage, lotion up to her knees and attention to detail such as having her put her sandals back on BEFORE polishing so they wouldn't smudge while drying. We had them done at the same time, so one would think they'd be pretty identical. I'm not sure where the "Aveda" experience comes on this one, but there definitely wasn't anything fancy. Read Less

I began going to Michelle Kenric in 2006 after moving to the St. Cloud area.  In the three previous years, I had become committed to using more earth-based products, minus parabens, especially when it came to things applied directly to my body (or more frequently, hair).  In fact,t he presence of an Aveda salon is one of the factors I include in any relocation possibility. There are a couple of different salons using the Aveda line in the St. Cloud area, but the experience I had at Michelle Kenric quickly set them apart as my location of choice.On my first visit, I was given a new client welcome packet.  The offer of water, tea, and coffee at each entrance was amazing.  The front desk staff quickly learned my name and greeted me with each return visit.The experience which most affirmed my choice of salon was during one visit in which I was getting my hair colored.  The stylist was not happy without how it turned out, and while I wasn't thrilled, I was happy to walk away and return in 12 weeks, looking for a new experience.  Instead, we rescheduled for the next day and it was fixed without charging me.  What could have been a so-so experience became one in which I left a thrilled customer.While I had not experienced them, my roommates used to swear by the massages offered by the massage therapist at the salon.  They shared the massage therapist listened to their specific concerns and exceeded expectations every time.  The couple of facials I had were great.  They definitely met my needs and expectations as a client of the salon.I'm disappointed I needed to relocate last year, but have returned to have my hair colored once again.  Each of the stylists at Michelle Kenric has given me a great experience.  I've had a few different stylists, with last minute appointments, maternity leaves, and other situations, but each one has been outstanding.  The owner, Wendy, frequently is in the salon, and when I would see her, she often checks to make sure each of the clients in the salon is having a great experience.  I wish I could go back and visit them again, but hope others look to a positive experience as well! I was happy the first few times I went here, but I had a pretty bad experience that soured my enthusiasm for this place.  I was running 10 minutes late 6 weeks after having twins because the address for this place on Google Maps was incorrect.  You cannot imagine how excited I was to have my first cut after birthing twins.  I called and told them what was going on and they said that I would have to reschedule.  My stylist had been running late numerous times when I arrived on time previously and with what they charge (I generally paid at least $40) I expect impeccable service especially if I am a regular.  Agreed they do offer the Aveda experience, refreshments at entrance, relaxation experience, and good cuts. So the place definitely is not cheap, but I am really happy with my hair. I went there for the first time and Breanna was the stylist who did my hair. She took her time to listen to my concerns, added some comments about what she thought would work best, and did an exceptional job. I ended up looking exactly how I wanted to. I also think that everyone was very pleasant when I was there. Once again, I did pay more than I have for similar services so far, but I will be going back because I appreciate the service. Read Less

I made an appointment for a perm. The price was exactly as listed online, which was a plus. They were also able to squeeze me in for an appointment within 48 hours of me calling, which was another bonus.The space was tidy and had a warm, earthy feel to it. All the staff seemed friendly. I booked the same service for both my sister and I; and while I'm glad she received what she did, I would think we would have the same services. We had the express pedicure.
