Since I am a runner and nail biter/cuticle picker, I don't frequent nail salons. I did want to get my toes done after my first half marathon and before my graduation and open-toed shoe debut for the spring. My friend booked an appointment for us for pedicures about a week in advance and we were seated almost immediately when we arrived for our weekday afternoon appointment. After picking a color, as instructed, we were guided to our pedicure chairs and offered a drink. If you ask for water, you'll get a bottle, just FYI. [Bottles always makes me feel a little guilty..] The spa chairs are comfortable and the water temperature was very hot, although they did offer to adjust it. The woman who gave me my pedicure was polite and she and the woman working on my friend chatted with both, though it was mostly silent. The massage part was pretty gentle, as was the minimal scrubbing and no excessive force involved in trimming. She painted carefully and used base coat, two layers of color, and top coat. When she was done, she placed foam sandals on my feet, carried my shoes to the drying table and set a ten(?) minute kitchen timer for my wait time. I thought this was kind of a nice touch [but I also felt like I was in time out.] While I appreciate the lack of aggressive upselling and some of the other things that I've experienced in what (feel like) family-owned nail salons in the past, I thought the cash only thing was kind of weird, as others have pointed out. But maybe that's the cost of entry without shady business dealings going on with the workers (S/O to the New York Times?). Also, I was caught off guard by the pricing but have since realized that WOW the going rate for nail stuff in Minneapolis is MUCH higher than where I used to live...Overall, I was happy with how long my pedicure lasted, the selection of colors, the observable hygiene practices, and the service so T-Luxe is a fine place to get your nails did in Minneapolis in my book.
