This is by far the best nail salon I've been to. Every time I've been to Tips N Toes the customer service has been outstanding. They are friendly and also take their time to perfect your nails. My friend and I recently had manicures scheduled for 630. No one was available when we got there, even though I had made these appts days before. It only took us 5 min to pick our color and then waited another 5 min to get one of us in. My friend sat next to me because they were going to sit us across the room from each other. The whole point of doing it together is actually being together! As I was already 10 min into mine, some employee came huffing in complaining that sh...e had been woke up to do this. She stomped around then ended up leaving! It is way past our appt time and my friend's manicure had not started. I have been going to the north location of Tips N Toes at least once a month for a year, ever since my husband got me a gift certificate last February. At first, I was incredibly impressed by the customer service, the salon and the quality of work that was done. Ever since, my experiences have slowly gone downhill and my recent visit will ensure I do not give Tips N Toes my business. Two days ago, I went in for a fill on my acrylic nails. I made sure to call ahead, and made ...an appointment for 3pm. When I arrived, the receptionist (I believe her name is Bailey?), was polite as always and asked me to have a seat. I sat for nearly 45 minutes past my appointment time before I was called over for my nails to be done by Kenny. It was incredibly busy, and I know this type of work takes time, but I’m not sure what the point of making an appointment was when I still had to wait 45 minutes. I do want to add that the entire time I was waiting, the receptionist kept apologizing and asking if I needed anything/wanted anything to drink. She is always great when I’m there. The fill was done in a timely manner, and Kenny was very pleasant. He presented me with the cat eye gel polish option for my nails, which I took him up on. Fast forward to later that same evening, I looked down at my nails and one was already bubbling/chipping. I was really disappointed, but figured I would just go in the next day and get it fixed. I woke up the next morning to another nail that was chipping, and a third where the polish is completely peeling off. Today, after work, I went in to see if these 3 nails could be fixed. I was told by the receptionist it would be no problem, then was told by the nail tech that since they would have to completely take the polish off of those three nails and then reapply it, they would at least have to charge me for a basic manicure. I found this to be ridiculous and completely unacceptable. I was perfectly willing to tip whoever ended up fixing them for me, but to have to pay more money for a poorly done gel manicure that I already paid $60 for was out of the question, especially with it only being 2 days old! I went in to get a gel manicure. I picked out my color, and they did have a lot of options. They came to me in the next 3-4 minutes of sitting down, and we started. They were very efficient and knew what they were doing sometimes a little hard to understand. They gel manicure took less than 25 minutes. They also give you a free beverage. Wow. This is the best pedicure I have ever had. The salon is extremely well-staffed; I made an appointment but it wasn't necessary. They have a huge selection of colors, none like I've ever seen. I normally go to Tips n Toes regularly because Julie has been my nail lady for years and have followed her from to salon to salon as she moves. I went in last weekend with a bridal party and got a gel manicure that was suppose to last two weeks. Normally, Julie takes care of the brides so a different lady did them this time. Less than a week later, all of my color peeled off. Being a long time friend and client of Julie, I texted her after salon hours when I got off work to a...sk if that was normal. She claimed that the gel manicure was guaranteed two weeks, like I had thought, and told me to call in the morning to make an appointment to be fixed. Fast forward to today, I arrived at my appointment and the receptionist called the owner, Paulina, to see what could be done about a refund or discount. Instead of her being understanding, she yelled at me (literally yelled) saying I shouldn't have went to Julie and needed to come to the salon in the first place. Mind you, every time I've had my nails done there by someone other than Julie, they've been messed up, crooked, have peeled off, or I've been cut multiple times. Not once have I ever asked for a refund of any kind because I've noticed this monster of an owner is a disaster to deal with. After yelling at me, she then yelled at the receptionist as if it was her fault. She then asked for a picture and again yelled because there wasn't much to see and she couldn't do anything about it. The entire reason I went back was because there was nothing left so DUH there's not much to see, that's the whole point! Long story short, after this woman yelled at everyone other than the one that should've been held accountable, she gave me $10 off of a $30 color change for a $35 manicure that I already paid for less than a week ago. My sister-in-law and I came for dip gel manicures while I was in town last weekend. We called ahead and scheduled our appointments together. We were placed on opposite sides of the salon, rather than next to one another (as anticipated). The technician began proper removal of the previous gel polish on my nails, but then decided to simply sand everything off, rather than allowing them to soak longer. Once the dip gel manicure was finished, I was instructed to dry my nails un...der the table lamps in the back of the shop. My nails were dull and two fingernails had fingerprints on them. I asked them to fix it, which they did, however they were very unhappy with having to do so. Three days later my polish began chipping and peeling off. I started going to Tips n Toes when I was 16. I had a few nail techs do my nails, but fell in love with Bin. She made it her duty to know about me and my life, always greeted me by name and was sure to remember our previous conversations. She always spent the time focused on me and how I liked my pedicures. I moved up north a little over a year ago, and have tried other nail places, but none compare to my pedicure with Bin. Love getting gel from them - I try and be careful when I have it on (hiking, beach, kayaking, lake house, running, etc) but they do a GREAT job and despite all the "stuff" the gel endeavors, it always lasts for like 3 months! I had to ask the nail technician to apply a base coat because she started painting the nails without one. Instead of letting me dry my pedicure under the dryer, they removed the foam dividers and sprayed my toes with a Neurtrogen bottle labeled "quick dry" and said they were dry. My daughter (who is 9 months pregnant) and I planned a special day to go get pedicures before the baby came. (She just got done with her last day of work in the school system, and needed to prep/pamper for delivery!). The guy that did mine, was great! (Kenny?) But, Sad to say, the young woman that did my daughter's, did not do a good job. (We asked for the Luxury Hot Stone pedicure, which cost double the price of a basic pedicure) She got very frustrated and flippant when my daughter asked her to get the calluses more smooth, kept shaking her head, and then started talking and snickering with her coworker beside her! (Probably good we didn't know what they said!) She spent much less time on each step than the person who was doing mine! She had a sarcastic attitude and made the experience very stressful for my daughter. (Wasn't pleasant for me to observe either!) It's not easy to sit there and be laughed at in another language!!! Then, if you consider the disrespectful attitude shown to my daughter, we felt we should speak with the manager about get a significant discount for my daughters pedicure. The manager was not working today. The young woman filling in for her was very nice, but said she had no authority to discount the service. (She admitted to up that have been other complaints about this nail technician) She called the manager on her day off. In the end, my daughter still had to pay for a "basic" pedicure. And the manager proceeded to HANG UP ON MY DAUGHTER! The experience was not worth even the "Basic" price!!!! It's a shame that some managers do not realize that they would come out ahead by giving good customer service, and making sure their employees treat customers with respect. I'm sure there are other great employees that work there, but we will not be back because of how the manager handled this and how she treated my daughter. My nail technician took her time and always asked if she was being to harsh and if the rag/water was too hot. Def my new place to get my nails done. One of main receptionists is incredibly rude and acts like you're an inconvenience. Some techs are good and some are mediocre. Went in today to get dip gel repair and the guy doing my nails grabbed a different color gray than the previous color, so I have two fingers that are mismatched lol. They also dip all the clients' nails into the same pot--which isn't hygienic. Furthermore, used the same nail file on HIS nails as I was curing mine in the light. Wth. Also his fingers were cracked and bloodied (poor man) but he didn't take any hygienic precautions. He was also obviously talking about me to another tech (whether positive or negative I'm not sure). However the receptionist the last time I was there which was 2 weeks ago was extremely rude, short with customers, loud and disrespectful. Me and my friend walked in to the north location, and the lady at the front desk was very rude. Not only to us but other customers as we were there for an hour and a half getting our nails done. When my friend made our appointment she was very short as if she wanted to get off the phone. I witnessed her being rude to her coworkers as well, yelling at them telling them that their clients are here when they were with another client. When I showed up she was very rude and and walked away when I walked in. We will still come in because we love who does our nails but we would rather have Leah come back.
