Tom was amazing! Finding the perfect nail salon was the biggest struggle for me. I was unsatisfied with at least one thing at every nail salon I tried so I thought this salon was probably the same. I came in with a lot of requests knowing that Mahalo might not be able to do certain things. However my nail artist, Tom, never said no or try to make excuses once for any of them to me. He was professional and patient with me. I know that they don't get a lot of request to do 3d nail art (since they are on the pricey side) and they might not be able to practice them on a regular basis to perfect the skills but Tom truly did his best and accommodate for what I asked for. Definitely worth the money and definitely deserves the healthy tip. I'm soooo thankful for Tom and they are, now, the ONLY nail place that I will go to from now on. Read Less

I liked the salon, it’s spacious and clean. I went there because of all the great reviews, but I did not have a great experience. My gel polish is chipped on two nails - not even sure how that’s possible, and it’s uneven on a couple. I’ve had gel polish done before and this has never been an issue. I’m unhappy with my results. If I could leave a 0 I would. This is the worst nail experience I have ever had and I have been getting my nails done for years at different places. They took my gel polish off with a dremal tool instead of a file which made my nails very weak. They also filed nails too short after repeatedly telling them not to do that, which resulted in uneven nail lengths. The polish is unevenly coated, and poorly applied. My nail chipped a day after getting them done. I will never ever come back here for anything. Very upset. Read Less

I went there for a pedicure on March 19. The place seemed clean and the people seemed nice. The quality of the pedicure was poor. And, I still needed a pedicure when I left. It was basically just trimming of toe nails and wetting of my feet followed by a toe nail color refresh. I will not return. Read Less

Decided to go here on a whim after work today and was very impressed! Parking is right in front of the building with a meter. Super cute and stylish space. My tech gave me an awesome dip powder mani in about 35 mins. I will definitely go back!! Read Less

I really like the ambience of this place.  Clean, cute, and has images of Hawaii flashing on the TV.  The girls are really nice here, but the prices are a bit steep.  I would give 5 stars but I was told my toes were dry only to come home to smashed toes.  Somewhat upset given that I paid over 100 for services and my toes need to be redone :(. I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet! I have been going to Mahalo Nails for almost a year now, since I moved back to the twin cities summer 2017. Liam, the owner, keeps up to date on all the nail trends and I highly doubt there is a design he can't do! He is an extremely dedicated hard-working guy who really cares that his staff is trained and delivering quality services.The salon is clean, cute, and up to date. They have the best gel polish color selection I've ever seen, and it's always growing. The pedi bowls are lined for each customer so you never have to worry about hygiene, and they offer really great luxurious pedi upgrades! I personally prefer Van for my pedis, he gives a great massage and shapes my toenails perfectly, but I've never had an issue with anyone at Mahalo.I highly recommend Mahalo over any other nail salon. The parking sucks, but it's worth it! No other place in MN can keep up with their acrylic/gel work. Read Less

The people are extremely nice and love to interact with you. They work very fast but sufficiently so everything turns out perfect! They have message therapy built into their pedicure chairs and message your feet, take off calluses, and they shape and file before they polish your toenails. Definitely coming back Read Less

I really like this place... Its clean and comfy. However, for the price... I don't think its all worth it. I felt ike my feet were barely massaged and the pedicure itself was rushed. I do appreciate the dont use a cheese grater on the feet and use good products to make your feet soft and scrub the heels with the stone. For my mani, my cuticles weren't trimmed perfectly and had to fix a few fingers when I left. My habd massage was nothing and rushed. My tech wad very sweet and i really liked her... This is my favorite nail salon in the Twin Cities! And I am picky-seriously I have been struggling to find a salon that meets my needs. Every time I come here I have an amazing experience. Over the last few months I have gotten acrylics, gel nails, and most recently dipped nails. They are always able to achieve exactly what I am asking for, the mani is high quality, and they even warranty their dip mani for 10 days! So if anything cracks or peels, I just have to bring back my receipt and they will fix it. Around Christmas, they even gave out little gift bags for Christmas presents. Such a great touch. Went here with a friend for the first time. We were really excited because we finally found a nice place that does nail art and designs. The staff was friendly, there is a good aesthetic there that is better than the other nail salons I’ve tried in the cities. They had tons of options for nail colors and gel powders. I got a gel set for my nails and it was a flat price of $70 which I thought was over priced at first, but the quality of the nail tech, they did exactly what I requested (ombré) with the shape and everything and it’s now been a month and a half and my nails are still in tact and looking fresh. I still get compliments on the daily about them. The only negative of the place is that, the workers were chatting and they insulted my friend and called her a dog, not knowing she could understand them. That affected the tips. Really elegant nail salon and reasonable prices. It located on lake street right in the heart of uptown. I walked by it and decided to take a chance. They went out of their way to find the exact color I wanted and the guy that did my nails was very nice and answered my questions. Everything is really clean and I like that they have music in the background. It was $30 for my gel manicure which is what I pay at other salons that aren't as nice as this one. I appreciate that they didn't require an appointment and that they don't demand cash tips like other salons, they even have a sign that says that tips are not required, but appreciated. I used to come here religiously every two weeks this past summer with my sister, but living in Minnetonka it's a little far and i wasn't fond of paying for parking. I didn't like any of the nail salons i went to after Mahalo, and just took my acrylics off. I got them put back on two weeks ago by a salon out in Minnetonka and it was ok, a few nails were a little crooked and the shape wasn't my favorite. Two weeks later (today) i decided to go back to Mahalo because i had never been disappointed by them. I called around 10:30 and made an appointment for a fill at 1:30. I was put with Henry. He was amazing! He fixed the crooked nails without taking them off and putting new ones on and you can't even tell they were ever crooked. He also fixed up the shape. He was very careful and asked "how is everything looking" several times through the process which i thought was really nice. He also showed me some of his other work, which was all incredible. I will never go anywhere else again. Henry has a new lifelong customer :) I had the owner (i think) paint my nails as Henry had another appointment coming in. I read the reviews and was hesitant to try this nail salon out. I am pretty loyal to V Star Nails but figured I should branch out for once. I made an appointment and didnt have any issues getting seated right away for my pedicure and gel manicure. The basic pedicure starts at $30 - a steal, and I opted for the callus removal and parafin wax treatment (each an extra $5). I am extremely ticklish and hate getting pedicures for this reason but the woman who did mine was so nice and did her best to avoid this. My feet felt AMAZING afterwards, one of the best pedicures I have ever gotten. The gel manicure was okay ($30), though they only gave me one set of colors to look at so I'm not sure how large their assortment actually is. The actual manicure was good but I did experience a problem talked about here in previous reviews - bubbling. I have small bubbles on two of my fingers and unevenness in the amount of polish used which creates an odd shape on some nails. Overall the salon is beautiful and very clean. I chose this place specifically because of the great reviews it gets on Yelp!My boyfriend and I have an annual tradition of getting pedis together. This spot is extremely convenient in Uptown on Lake St. I was impressed by the interior when we walked in. The decor was gorgeous and very well maintained!We were greeted by a receptionist--who I had made a reservation with--and picked out our colors. We got seated in the awesome massage chairs and were welcomed with a menu of services with prices. Basic pedicure is only $30! Good price point.We also added the parrafin wax treatment which is TOTALLY worth it! Hot wax on your feet that they let sit for a while and then peels off dead skin leaving your feet baby skin smooth.The pedicurists did a great job of cleaning and painting toes. We received water bottles while waiting for toes to dry at the drying station.The place was full but not noisy or congested. I love this spa! I have been twice. They are clean, organized/efficient, good quality & have a plethora of colors! The true test was that I came here for my wedding day nails and they were gorgeous! So you know I trust them!!! They were very bridal, but not obnoxious. They were a nude/light pink with gold glitter polish overtop, which was exactly what I wanted. I showed pictures of what I wanted, they were patient, helped me create this vision with the perfect colors & it was exactly what I was hoping for. Mahalo Nails is THE nail spot that's located in a prime and busy spot in Uptown. The place is hip, modern, vibrant and most importantly CLEAN. Mahalo Nails charges for EVERYTHING but trust me the quality and skills show - for example the type of nail polish color/type and shape (never been to a nail salon that charges $5 extra for stiletto or coffin shaped nails). The technicians are very friendly and accommodating, whatever style or request you are looking to have done they are happy to assist. As for the reception/front service it could be better. Came in for a simple, one color gel manicure with decent expectations considering most of the reviews I read were positive; however, I left very disappointed. The polish was applied unevenly. There was a gritty piece of who-knows-what that got mixed in with the polish and instead of wiping it away and fixing the layer, the manicurist examined it briefly then simply painted over it - consequently, I had a very noticible, unattractive bump in the middle of my thumb nail. I HAD a very noticible bump, and poorly done manicure because two hours after I left, the polish started popping off. Gel stays on my nails for a solid 3 weeks before I notice any wear. My husband and I are newlywed college students (not wealthy by any means), but we both work hard and he likes to treat me on the occasions we can afford it. Mahalo Nails was money absolutely wasted. But they turned out almost perfect, and I'm very OCD with my nails. I can actually say they were perfect to my standards. He took his time on me and the lady who did my pedi as well took her time and made sure I was fine. Also offered me water. I made an appointment and got seat right away. This is by far the best nail service experience I've ever had. No complaints at all. I'm so glad I found this place!!! :) Stiletto ("pointy nails") has been my go-to nail shape for years and let me tell you, I have never left a salon thinking "wow, these are perfect!" because no nail tech has done ever them right. Well, there's a first time for everything! Ray did an amazing job. He is gentle and light-handed with his work, which is important when applying acrylics (I don't remember the last time I left a nail salon without a bleeding cuticle). Made an appointment here for tonight (called last night), and boy am I sorry that I wasted an hour for this manicure. They weren't ready for me. And then instead of cutting my nails, they filed them to death and did a terrible job at. In fact, they even tore my nails they filed so much and so hard. Terrible manicure. Went to get a simple manicure before going out for my birthday. Polish wasn't applied but up to the nail bed so it already looked grown out when leaving the salon. Topcoat wasn't applied evenly and was super bubbly within a half hour of leaving. It was completely chipped and peeled off in a matter of 2 days.... super unhappy. Wish I loved this place because I live so close. But I don't. I gave it 2 stars because my mani was okay. But the experience in general was not good at all. The woman who I made an appointment with was very pleasant but I came back the next day for my appointment and the person that did my nails definitely had an attitude. We don't need to be best friends but be pleasant & professional, I am paying for a service! My pedicure was not very relaxing, my massage lasted like 30 seconds, I could have done it at home. Probably won't come back and that's ashame because I have a ton of family members that have loved to support this salon but I don't much good to say :( Read Less

I get my nails done here regularly. Gel nails and regular pedicures. I even drove my mom and sister here for mani/pedis for my wedding! This is a beautiful, relaxing, professional environment. They play good music and the people are great! This is the only salon in Minneapolis that I trust to do my nails. They use hygienic liners for their pedi baths and anything they cannot sanitize is only use once. They have a wide variety of gel and regular polishes. They book up pretty fast so walk-ins are not always available, I definitely recommend calling ahead for an appointment. I've been needing a pedicure for so long. Ugh, my cuticles are gross. We walked in, and they were able to accommodate the two of us right away.It is $30 for a simple basic pedicure, but their massage is thorough. $5 extra for paraffin wax treatment. My husband received a hot stone massage and paraffin was for $45 total. The technicians cut our cuticles very well and my polish job is perfect. She knew what she was doing. It's a new salon, and so far it's quiet, clean, and the air doesn't smell polluted. So far so good. Deducted one star because the technicians didn't use a cuticle softener or eliminator. Even though they cut the cuticles well, I know they could have done an even better job by using the right product. Also, the brochures of the different pedicures were hard to read... meaning, it wasn't simple and thorough enough to make me understand why "Pedicure X," was different than the others. I had too many questions after reading. I did want a superior kind of pedicure too, but I had no idea what to pick; therefore, I opted for the paraffin wax for myself, and the hot stones along with the paraffin wax for my husband. P.S.
