I got an updo here as practice for my wedding. I went in for a consultation, and I couldn't imagine what she was saying so I agreed to a paid updo. She tried 3 different quick hairstyles that looked more like she was playing with ideas rather than giving me an updo, which would have been fine, if I wouldn't of had to pay $85 for it. The "final" product was taken down, and even if it hadn't been, I would have done it when I walked out the door. The final hair was awful in terms of "this is what your hair will look like on your wedding day". I paid, tipped (because that's what you do), and left. I later called the manager for a partial refund, understanding I did need to pay maybe $20, because I disagreed that it was truly an updo, but she said the stylist did 3 "updo's" so the best she could do is give me $17 back. I paid $68 for 30 minutes of a glorified consultation. I wouldn't waste another dollar there. So, if they choose to stand behind calling this an updo worth $68, go somewhere else. Read Less

I agree with the other commenters about it being a little pricey but I do feel you get what you pay for. No matter who you get you can trust they are well experienced and know what they're doing. It's NOT like walking into some hole-in-the-wall shop and praying you don't leave with some sort of infection or a crappy nail job, with the only perk being you got it for cheap. You get what you pay for. The place is clean, you know they follow laws and rules for sanitation and the staff is always super friendly and accommodating. I've been seeing Sarah Jo for my hair and nails and even though she's newer to the field she does an amazing job. This company makes sure to train in all of their staff so they can all do a great job. Sarah is very professional and personable and I always feel she does a great job. She's easy to talk to and if you're unsure of where to go with your looks (nail or hair) she has the skill to show you what she thinks would look best for you. I highly recommend Sarah Jo. Absolutely LOVED my experience! I went to the coon rapids location. I had my wedding updo with krissa and my makeup with jorie! I had trials the previous week and they remembered everything I had told them and went above and beyond. They both way exceeded my expectations. Both my hair and makeup lasted the entire day. My curls didn't fall out at all! I had it done at 8am and by midnight after the dance it looked like it had just been done! I had many compliments on my hair and makeup throughout the whole day! First time there! Saw Taylor who was amazing and "fixed" my hair after going to another hair salon that was horrible! They literally destroyed my hair, and Taylor was able to not only keep my length, but made my hair beautiful again! She was very precise and gave me her honest opinion. I arrived 30 min early, checked in and was offered a beverage. My appointment started right on time, and Taylor actually stayed 20 min past closing to finish my hair and eyebrows. Yes the last salon ruined those too! Taylor saved my hair, and my eye brows! I will for sure be coming back to see Ashley. She was completely honest with me and was willing to listen to me, my concerns and what I thought about my hair before and after the appointment. I have been going to see Jamie at Simonsons in Coon Rapids for about 8.5 years! I usually go in there and have no idea what I want, I just know that I want something new and fun! Jamie always has the best ideas and I always feel and look fabulous when I leave there! I get so many compliments on my hair and I'm always proud and excited to tell them where I go and who to see I live out of state now and I still make the 10 hour drive back home to go to Jamie! I started going to this salon recently for my gel nail fills (not polish, actual gel overlay). Holly has become my 'regular' nail tech, but I also saw Natalia for a service when Holly was not available and both techs provide friendly, quality service. The front desk staff has always been efficient and friendly. Although I've not experienced any other services at this salon, I would definitely recommend them for gel nails. Read Less

After seeing the reviews here I booked an appointment with Krissa. I see why she has such great reviews! She is awesome; friendly, easygoing personality, and knowledgeable in a variety of areas. I felt that she really listened to me and took my concerns seriously. At other salons I have sometimes felt like the stylist would half-listen and then do what they wanted anyway. Krissa discussed my options and explained what different shades would go best with my skin tone. I wanted to go a bit darker and she worked with that request. She ended up coming up with the best color I have ever gotten. I usually need a few days to "adjust" to any changes, but I loved this right away. My husband loves it too. I came here for the first time after my regular girl quit at another salon the week before my wedding after working with her for over 6 months.I called Sunday morning and ask if anyone here was familiar with pompadours and fades. They said there were a few. I was lucky enough to get an appointment at 1:15pm the same day!I met with Tarin and she made a great first impression. She listened to my rant about how and why I ended up in her seat.She asked me a few questions and I showed her a couple pictures and she was off. She did an amazing job. I had called to set up a couple appointments two weeks before I was getting married. The lady I had spoken with had no idea what the prices were for what services and what the service came with. I shrugged it off since I had been there numerous times before and scheduled a waxing for Saturday and hair and make up on Sunday, which was the day I was getting married. Saturday came along and I received a phone call at 12:30, (My appointment was scheduled for 12:45) and said the woman who was doing my appointment was running 30-45 minutes behind since the customer before me arrived late to her appointment. By the time I received the phone call I was already down the street so I just went in to talk to them to see if I could get in with anyone else since I have a daughter and only had a babysitter for an hour. Of course no one else was available, so I had to cancel that appointment! The next day (Sunday), my hair appointment was scheduled for 10:45 and my make up was scheduled for 11:45 since I had to be out of the salon by 12:30 to make it to my wedding by 2! I had both appointments confirmed by email too I might add. Once again I received a phone call at 10:30 asking if I was still coming in for my hair appointment and I said yes I was on my way, I was not schedule until 10:45, the woman on the phone said my hair appointment had changed to 10am and make up to 11am. I had no clue what they were talking about and I never changed my appointment because I could not get a sitter until 10am that morning in the first place! They made a change in my appointment without even telling me or confirming with me that it would work around my schedule! Anyways I arrived and had my hair done. I kept telling the stylist that my hair was super loose and it felt like it was going to fall out. I was completely ignored and was told that she had another appointment in 2 minutes so there was nothing she could do for me. The woman who did my make up was wonderful and super nice and did an amazing job, that was the only good outcome of this whole thing! I arrived to my wedding at 2pm and by 2:30 my hair was falling apart! I had called and spoken with a manager and I am getting a "refund" (a gift card to Simonson's) for my hair mistake. I love going to Simonson's. I have been enjoying their various services for over 10 years now! My new favorite is Dylan, who is an amazing esthetician! The first time she did my eyebrows for me I was so happy I had to keep looking in the mirror all day :) I love Dylan she does a great job and is so nice and upbeat and sweet to my toddler when I have to bring her with to my appointments. I will continue to go and see her for my eyebrows and other services!Updated 8/29/2015 I also want to mention what a great job January does! She recently brought my eyebrows back from the brink of disaster :0 after I made a error in judgement and tried a new waxing place up the road, where I ended up with missing areas in my eyebrows that had to be heavily penciled in :( But my wonderful January knew just what to do and cleaned them up and evened them out so that they look AMAZING!
