Well I'd been very upset recently because my nail tech of 17 years just quit one day without notice! I tried everything in my power to get in contact with her. I posted on FB looking for a nice nail shop to go to and I was told by a friend to try Golden Nails. The minute I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and directed to sit down with my 4 year old daughter. The service was amazing and the way Tony took her time on my nails blew me away because I've always dealt with someone who rushed. I'm 100% satisfied and I have found a new nail home!!!! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I've been going there for years but lately been receiving bad service. Went in for a mani pedi and eyebrows. Pedi was ok eyebrows were good by Mary but my nails smh. Since I was getting a fill in I had to wait for new nail tech to finish so that Toni and the owner took walk in full sets. I know you have to make money but don't forget about the loyal people. I've been here since 11:30am and it's 1pm now, and they didn't do nothing yet. I had to ask 3 times for them to finish taking my shellac off.....The owner is by far the rudest person I've ever encountered. She does not know how to conduct a proper business, I've been coming here for a while now because one tech but now I only come when it's an emergency and I can't go to the other place...which I may add is in Dearborn. I had been a faithful customer of this salon for many years; however, this evening they allowed someone who was getting the same service as I was to go ahead of me. To be honest, the customer cut in front of me. I pointed this out and rather than making the rude customer wait her turn, the management still allowed this customer to go ahead of me. I have been getting service from Golden Nails for a couple years now. I only stay in Ypsi during the school year and this is the only place I trust for nail service while I'm here. Ann is the owner as well as my nail tech. Ann has always given me amazing service. Today was actually a day where her service stood out to me. I went to the salon with the intention of getting a fill in. After cutting down my nails, and removing a broken nail (because I have had this same set for a...bout two months), Ann noticed that my natural nails were a little weak. She then notified me that I should leave my natural nails out so that they can get back to a healthy state, leading me to try Shellac for the very first time (I love it). Ann cares about giving quality service and promoting healthy nail care. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone who is looking for great nail service. I've been going to Golden Nail since 2007. If you're a regular you know sometimes they get short staffed and they'll have anyone in there doing service. I went on October 14, 2015 to get a pedi, mani, and brows. I usually prefer Mary but she was booked, I didn't want to wait long so I let this older man do my Pedicure. It was the worst pedicure I've ever had and I been getting them for years. He did nothing right. I expressed to Ann the owner that I was not happy with the pedicure so she had Scarlet her daughter do my nails which were fine. But I was dissatisfied with my Pedi service and I was not paying for. So when it was time to pay Ann tried to force me to paying for it and she said next time just make appt with someone I like. I indicated that it wasn't an issue of disliking him. I don't know him, he just did not give me quality service. So then she says well pay this time and next time I can have a discount. I said no. I'll pay for my nails and brows. I've been coming here for years a loyal customer and never had an issue until today. So finally she charged me for the nails and brows and I said I won't be back. They didn't care. I have been going to Golden Nails for 5-6 years and Mary would do a great job on my eyebrows. I have referred several people to Golden Nails and always got complimented on my eyebrows. On May 16th MARY dropped a large amount of HOT WAX in my hair and begin to frantically remove the wax from my hair by pulling my hair out. She didn't even tell me she messed up. As she was pulling my hair out I asked to get up to see a mirror and my hair was damaged. Luckily I had a sew in (Or Weave) and it wasn't my natural hair. I paid a substantial amount for my hair though. I told her I would not be paying for her service and left. My husband then called up there and was very upset and they agreed to give me a gift certificate for a free eyebrow wax and told me to put baby oil in my hair to remove the wax. I went to redeem my gift certificate on June 26th and was told there was a long wait to get service. I came back the next day and there were only 3-4 customers there. None of the employees acknowledged me when I came in. One of them said something in Chinese and Ann, the owner, came out and stood over me and said What do I want? I said I wanted to get my eyebrows done and she said they would not do my eyebrows. I told her I had a gift certificate and she said no eyebrows was for $10.00 and that I could not use my certificate. She said they would not service me. So I stood and told her I would make it my duty to let everyone know about the HORRIBLE service I received. So although I received great service in the past, it's just a matter of time before something like this can happen to the next customer. Please be careful when deciding to visit this place of business. I was very upset at how I was treated and I remained very professional.
