The protective grid on the dryer was missing. They are still allowing customers to use it to dry their nails after a manicure, to my dismay. Highly dangerous and I'm sure illegal.

Unprofessional nail techs and terrible customer service. I got my nails filled here spur of the moment (I live in white lake and rarely go to this side of west Bloomfield) because one of mine was broken and I happened to be in the plaza. Up on returning home, I noticed my nails were all different shapes. I called for a refund and the owner told me it was my fault and I should have said something at the time of service and I get no refund. I didn’t notice until I got home and it’s a far drive for me. As someone who has worked in salons as a hair and nail tech, this is very unprofessional service. Will NEVER return Read Less

I've gotten my nails done at TJ nails various times over the years and it has always been a decent experience, but nothing worth making this salon my go-to nail salon. Today, however, was my best TJ Nails experience, and that's thanks to manicurist Jessie. Jessie was fast, efficient, professional, and she spoke perfect English. She was so pleasant, and I really appreciate that she didn't have that "I'm doing you a favor by painting your nails" attitude I've encountered here before. She was also really knowledgeable regarding nail colors and made great color replacement suggestions when I mentioned a favorite color of mine was discontinued. The salon itself is a bit dated, but they do have a pretty diverse polish collection, consisting of OPI and Essie products. Price wise, I'd say this nail salon is definitely one of the more affordable nail salons in the area. It was $16 (pre-tip)for a polish change on both my hands and feet. I don't remember how much I've been charged for other services I've had here in the past, but I'd assume those services too are priced lower than other competing nail salons. I'm still not going to make TJ my go-to place, but thanks to Jessie, I will come in here when necessary and ask for her. 3 stars for TJ Nails as a whole.5 stars for Jessie. Read Less

This was my first time getting shellac removed. The nail technician had me soak my nails in acetone for a bit and just kept drilling off the polish over and over again until he felt like he got it all. My nails were destroyed in the process. They are rough and part of the top layer got thinned down by the drill. Apparently this is not the right way to remove shellac and he should have scraped it off, not drill it all. I'm so disappointed, I've always had perfect nails and now I'm worried they won't grow back the same. They got so thin that just now my thumbnail broke up to the mid point of my nail bed (this has never happened to me my whole life). I don't even know what to do with this broken nail. I put a bandaid on it for now since it's starting to bleed. Just ridiculous. My first time doing shellac and this is my experience with it. Not to mention years back I did my nails here and the technician got polish on my new Tory Burch sandals. She wiped it off with nail polish remover and it left a large bleached area on my shoe. I got a quick sorry for that but nothing else, not even a free pedicure for ruining a $150 sandal. Read Less

My sister in law called ahead and was promised a pedi/no chip appointment for herself and a basic mani for me. I arrived and the place was slammed with customers. I waited about 15 minutes for a chair and had about a 15 minute service. No frills/bare bones manicure. Which is fine if it lasts. 1 day later and it is already starting to chip.! It is cheap enough at $13 but you get what you pay for. My poor sister in law's no-chip mani had a chip not even 24 hours later. Did not seem clean enough or friendly. With a nail salon on every corner I would steer clear of this place. Disappointing but not surprising. Read Less

TJ nails is the closest nail salon where I live so it is more convenient for me to get my nails done here. They do great fill in acrylic nails, but overall I hate going here because they spend little time on pedicures (10 min) and they barely massage your feet and legs. They have attitude and customer service is just unfriendly . Not a happy environment. I now go to DK nails or the singing manicurist and have much better experiences! Read Less

I am surprised to see so many negative comments as the place is packed every time I go.Everyone has different wants and needs when they get their nails done.  Some go for the experience and others for the result.  I am the later and I think is vitally important that, before reading my review, you know where I am coming from.  I work 70 hours a week and am required to look top notch for my position.  I hate spending a long time in any salon because it takes time away from other (more important) things I could be doing.  When I go, I want to be out ASAP with a clean polished look at an affordable price.  In fact, I usually don't even wait for the manicure to completely dry before I am out the door.  If you are the same then this review is for you....Sometimes they are a bit rushed with the volume of people but the fact that they remember my name, what I get, and which manicurists I prefer speaks for their customer service.  They are also one of the most reasonably priced places in the Bloomfield area.  Their polish changes are top notch so if you just need a quick fix up... go for that.  I have never NEVER had an incident with fungus or cuts and Ive been a regular for over two years.  Their pedicures stay pristine for weeks and as for the person who commented that the manicure chips, the secret is to use a top coat every few days. That's the rule for EVERY manicure regardless of where it was done. Most the time I go in for waxing.  I love the wax they use.  I have very sensitive skin and other salons in this price range have me walking out with burns.  TJ's is the only nail salon that I can trust not to damage my skin.  PS: Amy is great at eyebrows is you go.Last tip: making an appointment doesn't usually work out.  This is very much a walk-in shop so if you are on the run choose a weekday morning to visit.PS: The place doesn't stink of acetone which is a huge plus. I have gone here twice. The first time, my nails looked great, but the nail tech was actually mean. She made it obvious that she was annoyed with getting "stuck" with another customer. I felt uncomfortable the whole time. Then, 4 days ago, I went in again. My nail tech would not make eye contact with me whatsoever. I do understand that these types of nail places are modern day sweatshops, so I do take that into consideration. But, it was so bad that I couldn't wait to get out of there. On the second visit, my nails looked good, not great, and after 2 days, they were all chipped up. It looks like I did my nails myself with super cheap polish. They look horrible. I will not be returning for a third try. Read Less
