Eco Nails has wonderful products, but the nail techs not so much, because communicating with them was challenging. I feel as if the communication problem resulted in a service that I was not happy with. Even though I asked for help, it just didn't seem to work out . After 3 visits, I quit going back. I really liked this salon! It smells really good and the atmosphere is very relaxing. I was there for a kids mani/pedi for my 9 year old, and they were able to fit in a shellac mani for me.My daughter didnt fit in the chairs at all, but they were able to accommodate her very well. I didn't get the name of the lady that helped her, but they were talking the whole time and she answered every question my daughter had. My daughter did manage to smudge her pedicure while moving from the manicure area to the drying area, but it was fixed right away.My manicure was very nice. I had Anna and I explained that I like my nails to be square with the edges rounded, but that when I got my last manicure I thru didn't understand what I wanted and made them round. She calls what I wanted "soft square" and she fixed it beautifully. She was very fast with the polish, but I'm very nitpicky and I haven't noticed any flaws.I also liked how clean everything was. All the tools are sanitized and metal, and everyone wears gloves.I have 1 more salon to check out because I want to try a powder manicure, but for regular polish or shellac, this one is great! This used to be my go-to pedicure place. I actually called their pedicures "toegasms". The atmosphere, people, pedicures, price and choice of colors can't be beat. Now, I can't get in. It used to be a walk in spa. Now you can't walk in at all. Nor can you call a day or two ahead of time. They told me today that they were taking reservations a week to two weeks out. In the past I've had very good experiences here, but ran into a scheduling problem on Saturday. I had a mani/pedi booked with technician I had seen before and she does an excellent job. She greeted me and said would you like your mani or pedi first? It didn't matter to me (but I really came in for pedi/ mani was an add on. She said let's do mani first. OkThey started to get busy and she kept looking at pedi chairs saying she wanted to make sure no one took our chair. During my manicure another client came up and said she was so glad to get in for pedicure with her. As she is finishing my nails she says" do you mind if someone else does your pedicure? I said that's fine but is someone available, she says I'll check with receptionist. Guess what, none is available, she puts me under nail dryer and that's it. No apology, nothing. I check with receptionist and she says , we can take you at 5:30 really? It's almost 1:00 now. Right you bumped me for someone else and I will just wait another 4 1/2 hrs. how the heck have i missed this place the past two years i've lived in the area?!i have been searching long for a nice salon to get a shellac manicure and just so happen to pass by on my way to walmart. of course i yelped it for reviews and saw so many glowing reviews of this place. i decided to give it a shot and made an appointment for a friday.this place is not your typical nail salon. there are NO acrylics, which is a good thing because the smell isn't bad. it's a very calm and relaxing environment, and they have signs for people to limit their cell phone conversation which is great. all of the girls here are very sweet. chin was quick with my shellac manicure and did an excellent job.i normally do my pedicures at home because i am extremely ticklish and my feet are sensitive. however, i think i am gonna HAVE to try a pedicure next time. their pedicure area is so quiet and quaint that i just know i would enjoy it.look no further if you're in need of a nice, clean salon with people who actually care about their customers and treat them well! I have never been obsessed with a nail salon until i visited eco nails! Walked in and was immediately taken. Got a shellac manicure & pedicure ($60) and LOVE the pedi chairs, so relaxing I almost fell asleep. Nice that they have a free rewards program so you can earn points towards services. I was very nervous about finding a good place to get my nails done, that wasn't too pricey. The reviews on Yelp made this one an easy try. Definitely schedule ahead because they book up and when you experience eco nails you understand why! But are still accommodating! I always get a shellac mani and a standard pedi which is around $60. Some may say that's pricey, but the pedicures are the best I have ever had. They take their time, and are very relaxing! You'll want to buy those massage chairs for your home it is so nice! I went in today for a pedicure. Didn't have an appt and they were definitely busy. I was grateful they worked me in and figured I would be kind of rushed through which I would have understood. I really like this place - I will say that they recently raised their prices so that is a bit annoying but I feel like my polish lasts longer here compared to other nail places. I was paying $16 for a manicure but I think it went up to $18. The ambiance is very nice and spa like and I have been happy with the abilities of every nail person who has done my mani/pedis. The pedicures are relaxing but not as rough and tough as some other places. My feet aren't bad but I know my sister thought it didn't do much for her. She does a lot of walking so she prefers when they get rid of dead skin and all of that. They do lean you back in the chair so you can't see them polish your toes - this can be an annoyance to those who are particular like my sister and I, but relaxing nonetheless. Overall, I think this is a wonderful place. The polish selection is nice. They carry OPI and Zoya among others. Only reason I docked a star is because I don't like the way they display their nail polish. The place is dimly lit are the polishes are almost placed on wall lighting. This makes it hard to see what the color actually looks like. I wish I could give a better review of Eco Nails! I had my first appointment for a pedicure and gel manicure this evening. The ambiance and concept of this nail salon is excellent; however, my first experience was far from excellent. The technician I had was very inattentive. She made the relaxing environment less relaxing with her high-strung, disorganized and frantic state. Her "friend" walked in while I was getting my nails done and they had a personal conversation for about 20 minutes while I was receiving services (very unprofessional). My gel manicure was stuck to my skin so badly that another technician had to use clippers to unstick the gel from my skin. When I got home and took a better look at my nails, there are many missed parts that do not have paint on them. Also, my heels are rougher than when I went it. I am so bummed of this experience. Hands down the best pedicure I've had (don't let the fact that I'm a dude fool you... I've had more than a few)The space is clean and serene -  essential oil diffusers fill the air with calming fragrances; the paint, decor, and lowered lighting set an upscale scene.Their wall of polishes is truly extensive, and stocked with every color you could want.I've enjoyed the middle- and top-tier pedicures, and both are as luxurious as it gets. The techs are thorough and skilled, and seem to take their time. The foot baths and chairs are incredible, and the chairs even recline for the foot and leg massage. This is the point in the pedicure that I put my phone down, close my eyes, and bask in heavenly relaxation.I've paid $30-40 for what I call "fast food pedicures" before. You know the type, the 10-minute whirlwind pedi where you haven't even figured out the controls on the massage chair before you're being ushered to the counter to pay. That's not my style. What a wonderful experience! My husband made appointments for us to get deluxe pedicures during a day-date. We showed up early and they were able to accommodate us a little before our appointment.I immediately noticed how many polish colors they had available... their collection was even bigger than mine! They had an impressive array of Zoya, OPI and Orly polishes to choose from. I picked two bottles and my tech was cool about honoring my special request (solid base coat, glitter on top).My tech was Gigi, Jacob's was Lily. Both women were friendly, just chatty enough and extremely professional. The massage chairs are incredible! They're very plush, have built-in massage (but it's not jarring like the mall places) and little tables so you can enjoy a drink while getting pampered. Gigi took plenty of care with my feet and legs. The essential oils, lotion and salves they used were refreshing. When it was time for the leg massage, the seats went into a zero-gravity position so you're laying on your back with legs in the air. The 15-minute reflexology massage was to die for. They didn't cut any corners on the massage, either. It was great.When it came time to polish my nails, I do feel Gigi rushed a little bit. She didn't seal the polish at the top of each nail so it looked a little amatuerish. Besides that, they were painted very well.This was a splurge but I'd not hesitate to treat myself at Eco Nails again in the future. I have been a frequent client of Eco Nails since opening night. My first few visits were very nice, relaxing,enjoyable. However, over this past year things have really changed. This place is turning into a regular asian nail place with a fancy name. I have had 4 visits including one this past Friday morning. I purchased a pedicure and polish change. The operator Val which I only knew her name from the name tag and receipt, seemed annoyed to be working that day. She was 1/4 into the service and remembered to ask what oil I would like in my cold water tub. When I mentioned that I would love to have the water a little warmer she was annoyed to have to now remove some water to add more warm water. Than I was served cold green tea yum.... when I mentioned it was cold she never asked if I would like it heated up....Val never asked how I would like my toe nails shaped and I ended up with my nails cut deep into the corners which will now most likely turn into ingrown toenails. Val wanted to paint my nails while I soaked my feet, Which I did not feel was very relaxing to me because this is why I came to this spa is to relax.. no foot massage, no leg massage, barley scraped the feet...I thought I was getting two services? As I watched the clock I recognized It took less than 29 minutes to give me a pedicure and nail polish change which she ended up doing in the pedicure chair no sense asking her to sit a a normal manicure table didn't want to upset her... and all for the price of $37.00. Every part of the pedicure seemed to be rushed. I will not only let everyone of my local friends, family business acquaintances and customers know of my recent experience. I will NEVER be back. I have been a customer of Eco Nails, Environmentally Friendly Spa on Livernois and Sq. Lk Rd. in Troy since it opened. I recommend it to all my friends. It is the cleanest nail salon I have ever visited. I also appreciate the organic, chemically free options. I highly recommend the reflexology massage followed by paraffin wax therapy treatment for hands and feet. If you want you can purchase and store your own implements. When you walk through Eco Nails' door there are no putrid acrylic fumes like most nail salons. You can actually breathe easily. I was there on Saturday and the place was packed and the phone was ringing. My husband and I both got mani-pedis. They take walk-ins but I always call ahead. Don't believe the haters. Terrible...Terrible...Terrible salon I have ever seen in my life. They didn't know how to clean and sanitize their equipments. This salon looks good on the outside and had a sanitary room with an autoclave, which matched the hospital grade (that was what they stated). However, now I am very doubtful if this machine is working or not because they tried to exaggerate what they have been doing. I was very shocked during my pedicure on the pedicure chair when i saw a technician accidentally drop something out of her hands and fell apart. Oops! I finally found out that she dropped a pipeless jet from one of their foot baths. I was curious so I asked them to show me what was inside. Oh my Lord! In front of me was some disgusting stuff (toe nails and cotton) which must have been there a long time because it was all black, yellow, and green. I almost threw up, but lucky for me, I managed to hold it in. I asked the girl named K who was doing my pedicure, "How do you guys clean your foot baths and pipeless jets? She looked me, gave me a silly smile, and then said, "Very often," without telling what the process was. Then, she turned around and chatted in Vietnamese with the other people who worked there. I didn't know what she said, but the other workers there turned around and gave me very mean looks. I asked K to stop doing my pedicure and left. However, she told me that I had to pay for her service. I felt very sick by the time that I looked at her face, so I paid and left. Again, this was the nastiest nail salon I have ever been to and the worst service I have ever had. Read Less
