I have been a client at Studio 9 for aprox. 3-4 years. I take my sons there and my sister and Nieces because of my referral. Today I was highly disappointed when I took my my niece in for a salon haircuts for her birthday. When I made the appointment I stated I wanted a haircut, as I have done in the past. However, today she was sent out with wet hair and no blowout, her hair was cut, which is what I requested. This is something I would expect from great clips not a high end salon! I never have requested a blowout, so why would today be different. I think it may have been the stylist was running a half hour behind, which we had to wait. The owner made it seem as if clients walk out with wet hair often, I know this is not the case being how often I frequent the salon. Please be specific when scheduling, her special day turned into disappointment and I wouldn’t want it to happen to anyone else. Response to owner- it was never stated you would style at no additional cost! I would appreciate a response that was not generic, but was that of a valued client! My hair was long and a mess. Needed a good change. I went on line and scheduled-- so easy. I got there on time and I did not have to wait. I was shown through the salon. This made me fell more comfortable and also learned of the other services they provided. May was my stylist. She did a great job of cutting what I wanted-- "Inverted bob stacked not layered." She really did what I wanted. Years ago I would show pictures and explain and I would end up with a layered bob. Not a good cut for me. My hair is very fine and with layers goes very flat. She was so nice and this was a very good experience. On the way home I stopped at the store and a lady out of her car window ask me where I got my hair cut. She liked my cut. That made my day. On a whim, I decided to cut all my hair off and go short. I rocked a pixie four years ago and loved not having to spend so much time on my hair. I called and they got me in that day at the exact time I wanted, which was awesome. Lynne did my hair, and I purposely waited a few days to write a review to really see how I felt about the cut. Lynne was very kind and was super sweet, but I wanted to give an honest review after having a few days of styling it on my own. I had my hair and makeup done for a wedding here, the salon is beautiful and clean. The staff was friendly enough to me, but I'm not sure all girls in my party had the same experience. As for the make up, it was horrible. There was eye shadow all over my face, smudged liner and brows and hastily(poorly) applied lashes, and although I had a full face  all of my dark spots and blemish were visible. Then she sprayed my face with hairspray afterwards. I would think when doing make up on someone with blemishes you would know not to put hairspray on their skin...that's what setting spray is for. Same for the hair, I had to redo it myself when I left. I will say, if you're looking for some curls or a basic updo...they can do it here but anything beyond that I would go elsewhere or make sure you talk to them in advance about your stylist and what they're capable of. I did not complain or ask to be fixed because I did not have the time or the faith that Studio 9 would meet my needs or expectations, and at the price point per girl...I had some expectations. I had my hair done here a couple weeks ago and had a great experience. The staff were professional and friendly. My stylist was Frankie and I was beyond pleased with the service she provided. She cut and colored my hair exactly how I wanted it done and the final product exceeded my expectations! My daughter had homecoming on a Sunday. I couldn’t find any salons open Sunday’s. I stumbled across Studio 9 and they were OPEN! I would not recommend this place for a wedding party! We booked them at a bridal show and First off we were told we would be together in the same room and served Mimosas but when we arrived everyone was separate and there was some orange juice and danishes outside. Second the entire Bridal party including bride left unhappy with the makeup! The only person who looked stunning was the mother of the bride:) her makeup & hair turned out beautiful but the rest of us we're very unhappy. The sister of the bride was the only one who's hair looked good. The flower girls hair fell out before we even left:( once we got back to the room I redid everyone's makeup & ... like completely redid it & fixed everyone's hair. I was looking for a new hairdresser in the area and my friend recommended Lauren, and she was simply awesome. Her confidence relieved my nerves, as I had two previous cuts that were quite bad. She was honest about getting the haircut I wanted (need to let it grow out more), so I'm in this transition process with my hair but it still looks great. I will NOT be back!!!! I am new to the area and Studio 9 came highly recommended. My first experience should have been a red flag, I didn't have any appointment and just walked in. The receptionist was very polite, got me checked in, she then over the loud speaker called the stylist and said I was ready.  The entire time I was there, I kept hearing stylist's being called over the loud speaker.  I felt like I was in Walmart and they were doing a price check or I was at a restaurant, they called me to say my table was ready. My consultation consisted of asking how I wanted my hair cut.  She mentioned a bob and I said no that it was to short; I wanted to keep it on the longer side so I could pull it up.  I told her I have a major appointment next week and my son's wedding in a couple months so I didn't want anything drastic. I stated that my hair was the "Rachel" cut.  I said just cut 2 inches off and keep the same cut, add a angled bang in the front.  My shampoo consisted of her hand rubbing my head, didn't even get to my scalp. The first cut was my bangs, she didn't ask me how short I want the angle, she just cut. This hair was to my chin, it is now at my eye. She continued to cut the rest of my hair and then said, are we styling? I replied, yes just blow dry with a round brush because that is how I do it at home. After blow drying, she kept pushing my now short bangs back, if I had bangs cut don't you think I'd want them down. She rushed me out of her chair, went up front to pay. When I got home, I looked at it and it was completely flat to my head, felt like I had a helmet on. I didn't think to much at the time because I just figured she didn't blow dry it the way I do. The next day I go to blow dry/style my usual way. OH WOW.....Remember the short bangs? Yep, she used the short bangs as a guide and cut the entire top section. She didn't cut the 2 inches as I requested, she cut 4 or more off the top section.  End Result.....A MULLET, yes that's right A MULLET!!!!   I am a licensed hairstylist for over 30 years and I can't even perform majic to make it look half way decent. My options, wear the back pinned up for the next couple months until the top grows out, start wearing a wig or have extenstions put in. Read Less

What started out being a nice Christmas gift for my daughter turned into an absolute nightmare. I Purchased a gift certificate for my daughter to get her hair done. It needed a lot of work as far as stripping layers of color and re-dying, so we knew we were in for a costly visit. I dropped her off on Mon Jan 9th for her service and was babysitting for her. I was in constant contact because I would be picking her up and also because I was aware that it most likely cost more that her GC. [150] So from the beginning my daughter was texting me telling me that her stylist was confusing her- that she was saying that it could be 4 hours or longer but maybe not that long. That it could be 65$ an hour or up to 250$ changing her cost throughout the duration. She may need a cut, maybe not. I was telling my daughter, don't worry, I will pay the extra and just relax.She finally was finished and was happy to report that she loved her hair. [ which by the way the dye bled the hairline TERRIBLY] I went to pick her up and she ran out to get my card for any additional charge and tip. [By the way, she had to get cash out of the ATM because they do not allow tip on the card, which I had to pay an additional fee for] She came back to the car and as we are driving away she said "Oh good news! The cost was 125.00 so I still have 25 left on my GC and I grabbed 20 cash for the tip. I was surprised but pleased to hear that it was that price. We went on with our night and a couple hours later my daughter got a call from the receptionist saying that she owes 170.00. There was a mistake and she owes ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY dollars. I heard her explain that no, she had paid 125.00 ..what she was charged and tipped 20.00 so she had paid. The girl then said something about a mixup so I got on to the phone and asked her to explain. Kristen then explained that there was a lady with the same service who she mixed my daughter up with. [If it's the same service WHY is there a change in cost then?] After a little back and forth, I explained that she paid what she was charged and that it that. She admitted she made the mistake and would talk to the manager about waiving any additional charge. [She ultimately said that an additional 45$ was owed] So I gave her my number and asked for her to have the manager to call me during the next day to confirm that we were straightened out.The next day, the salon staff called my daughter, [not me as requested] and not only accused her of blocking the salons number [which was false because when she saw they called, she called right back] and also THREATENED that if she did not come pay the money owed that they are going to file a POLICE report for THEFT of services. I was at work during this interaction and my daughter texted me. I was ready to call the salon after work and have it out with the manager or even the owner. Thankfully, by the time I got off work, They had emailed her saying the mistake was theirs and the 'fee' was waived. A sparse apology. What a shame. This was the first time for my daughter here, I WAS going to start going here and one of my family members goes here. I could have been a nice new loyal customer with 2 daughters that could have been as well. What a shame this is the way you treat your clients. You make the mistake then call us thieves. Had my hair and makeup done for a wedding. It was a nice experience but the results sucked. I have thick but manageable hair. If I curl my hair it typically lasts for a few days. So I'm not sure what the women did wrong but all my curls fell out within 2 hours of my hair done. It didn't even last through the ceremony. Makeup was okay. It looked natural which is. Nice but if I'm paying $70 to get my makeup done I would like it to last all night and at least look different than I did without it. Overall expensive for the crappy results. Read Less

We moved here from a different state and my 16 yr old daughter looked high and low for a great colorist since she's been getting her hair colored for a couple years now. She chose Lauren out of all the stylists and she is really nice.  The only issue was that she left a bunch of hair at that hairline (without color, just white from the bleach). so when she pulls her hair back you see a bunch of white hair at the hairline which is very evident next to the purple that the rest of her hair was colored. how do you miss that much hair when coloring? it's not as though she was coloring her hair blonde and missed the bleached pieces.  for $130 plus a tip I would think that the color would be done much more professionally. Mae washed, cut and blow dried my hair this morning. I can honestly say it has been years since I was as happy with my hair in the chair as I was in the car and still when I got home to play with it. She took time to get an idea of what I wanted, and I'm so happy with the result. Went to get my hair done there last week, I was a shadow rooted blonde and wanted to go to a chocolate brown ombré. The stylist Megan made my entire hair black. Very disappointed it was a big process to get my hair that light and now it's black. Definitely left a bad first impression that makes me not want to come here again. I did not have an appointment. I walked in to get shellac today.. I was extremely happy when they were able to take me as fast as they did with it being a busy Saturday. Only to be extremely disappointed when I left the salon and entered the sunlight. The application of the shellac was uneven and not applied in full. Blotchy and streaky. I want to believe it was only because they tried to fit me in last minute and we're trying to hurry. but I don't appreciate being charged the full amount when they didn't even spend time using the cuticle oil or soaking me etc... I went to this salon for quite some time. Verna, the manager and owner, has absolutely no customer service skills. I kept coming back because it is anxiety provoking to think of having to find a new salon, but I eventually had no choice. I would come in for cuts, highlights and color and could never seem to get a consistent result. I shared my concerns with Verna and I became very alarmed and uncomfortable with how defensive and confrontational she was. I thought I would let it go and try one more time; when I called to schedule my appointment with my normal hairstylist, I was advised that she was unavailable that day. Ok, no problem. I asked the receptionist when her next availability was and she replied that she was booked 6 months out. What?? I then asked about other hairstylists, I was placed on hold for awhile when she came back and told me NO ONE was available. I listed off some names and was told they were all booked out at least 6 months and that they wouldn't be able to assist me. Verna "blackballed" me from the salon. Needless to say, I was done trying. She is very sweet and you can tell she loves what she does and it's awesome because you just know you're going to have your hair looking good after you walk out. She does amazing highlights and color. And, of course, her cuts are great too. I have friends that are cosmetologist too that will do my cut my hair for free and they're good, but I'd rather spend the money and have someone I trust and know I will leave happy. :) Read Less

I was referred here by my sister when I moved to the area. A survey was sent to me via email asking what I was looking for before my first visit so they could match me with the right person. I always get my hair done blonde and it always comes out fantastic! The only reason I cant give 5 stars is because I absolutely HATE the fact that tips have to be cash. You can use the ATM in their lobby and be charged of course. Super inconvenient to have to stop at the bank before your hair appt. I wish they would just add the tip onto the debit payment like EVERYWHERE ELSE in the world. Read Less

I came here to get my makeup trial for my wedding. Which cost me $70. My makeup seriously looked like a toddler did it. What the worst part was is it was done for my wedding shower, my husband said it looked like I had day old bar makeup on. Thank god I got a trial and this want my wedding day. What makes me sad is I loved the girl that did my hair here. Her name is Sharice. She is amazing. She does stare at herself in the mirror while talking to you though. Lol. I thought it was cute.  One bad thing is after I called and complained about my makeup they wouldn't let me cancel my wedding booking so I just didn't show up that day- so I can't see Sharice anymore without being uncomfortable.  Never got reimbursed my $70 either.
