I had never been to a nail salon like this before. I went because my normal salon was all booked up for the weekend and I really needed my nails done. Kiss was pretty close to my house so I thought I'd give it a shot. Plus, their prices were considerably lower than my normal salon. I was actually excited to try them out. Unfortunately, I did not leave happy. For starters, I had made a 1 PM appointment in advance because I had somewhere I needed to be later in the day. I am really not sure the purpose of the appointment though as I sat there for almost 45 minutes twiddling my thumbs waiting for a nail tech. They did not apologize; they did not care. I ended up being late to the event I had to go to. By the way, I am not unreasonable. Had I waited 15 or even 20 minutes, I would not be complaining but 45 minutes and with no apology; HELL TO THE NO! In addition to this, when I walked in, I was not really greeted. I felt as if I was yelled at by a man sitting near the front desk. He asked me my name and then sternly told me to go get my polish. Like I said, I had never been here before so I was unsure where they kept the shellac colors. He pointed me to a very general area and provided no further assistance. Another point lost. Finally, I was pulled to a station where my manicure started; a station in which a woman had JUST gotten up from her manicure. I am not really sure if they cleaned the station. Eww! I needed this Mani so I sat down anyway and showed her the shellac color I was going for using my iPhone. It was 2 colors combined; darker color on the bottom (2 coats) with a lighter color on top (1 coat). The blend made a rich peachy color that was more brown tones than pink tones. The technician refused to do this. She said she didn't want to try mixing the colors even though they had both colors available. I understood where she was coming from so I asked if she could suggest a similar color to the blended colors I requested. Ya know, since she is the expert and all?! She did not want to suggest a color either. Ugh! So, I went to grab a new color that I thought looked similar to the darker peach color. I sit back down and she says, "No, that is brown. I won't do that. I will do something else that is closer to the color you wanted." What in the world? I had asked for a suggestion 10 minutes ago and she would not help so where was this coming from?! She went and pulled a color for me. It was very pinky. I told her I was concerned it was so light and had such a pink tint to it. She said she would apply 3 coats to darken it up to achieve a similar color to the color I wanted. I was nervous about this. However, I figured she was the expert so I let her continue. So, after 3 coats of polish, what do I get? Super pink, super light nails. People, I am pale. No, I am beyond pale. I am so white I am see-through. Light pink nails do not even show up on me. I felt as if I just threw money down the toilet. I did not say anything as I had somewhere to be and I don't like confrontation per se. I certainly wasn't smiley/bubbly when I left and even told her that my nails turned out pink just like I thought they would; sending a strong hint. She said they were pretty and didn't seem too concerned with how I felt. So, as stated above, I was not happy and am still not happy. The situation is such a bummer too because their prices were better than other local places. I guess it goes to show you, you get what you pay for. Signed,Frowning Pale Girl with Pink Nails Read Less
