I understand you can get a bad haircut but I am fuming!!  I recently moved and I received a welcome packet with coupons to local establishments.  I usually go to novi to get my hair but it's a bit of a drive from Shelby so I decided to give this place a try.  I received a coupon for a free haircut so I thought why not try somewhere new and closer to home.  I made an appointment with the owner Catherine but when I got there, the stylist wasn't her.  At least I don't think, her name was different but just can't remember from all the anger.  Anyway, my hair was about 3 inches past my chest so it was pretty long and I wanted it about mid chest length.  I brought in a picture and showed her and she said "okay, so you want long layers."  So I replied, I wanted it cut like the picture.  She started cutting the back first then asked me afterwards "is this length okay" which was the front.  I said that's fine since she already cut the back so I wanted it to be even.  Now, its about 1 inch past my shoulders which is shorter than anticipated which is fine.  She then dried my hair then said she was going to do layers.  I've never had someone do my layers after they blow dry it unless they are touching up.  I trusted since she was the stylist, she knew what she was doing.  She finished then asked if she could curl my hair.  I thought she meant just the ends but I assumed it's fine.  She curled my whole head and showed me when it was finished.  From what I could see it was fine just not the haircut I asked.  I assumed it would look more similar to the haircut when it's straightened, just shorter.  She took an hour and 10 minutes cutting my hair so I thought she was really trying her best so I gave her 25% tip.  Big Mistake since I think she curled my hair to cover up the chunks of hair missing in the back.  Later in the evening I took a shower and noticed my hair.  OMG, she took big chunks off the back of my hair and the length of the chunk is at my ear!  I don't know how I'm going to get this fixed without cutting my hair all off.  This is really frustrating and upsetting.  DO NOT GO HERE!! Catherine is not only welcoming, but has a true passion for hair and it shows through her work. She did a full highlight, toner, and a trim. The bleach used for highlighting is not damaging at all. I have been going to Louisa for years for haircuts and highlights because she is an absolute perfectionist. Best of all, she is great with dealing with cow-licks. All my boys (3 & 15 yr old + husband) have really severe cow-licks. When other hair stylists cut their hair, they think the cut is even and balanced by looking only at the damp hair after they're done. But when Louisa cuts their hair, she knows she has a lot of touch up trimming to do after drying because of the crazy swirl patterns on their heads. Both my 15 yr old and husband are super picky about their hair and Louisa is the only person they like for haircuts. And its very rare that you'll find someone who can give an impatient, fidgeting 3 year old boy a nice even haircut. Read Less
