***EDITED BELOW*** I was super excited that my boyfriend surprised me with getting me a mani and pedi. I had a great experience and loved it. I asked if I could get Shellac instead of just regular polish. They had no problem with it at all. The lady who did my nails was wonderful, and told me to come back if anything happens in the next two weeks. My nails did chip pretty bad. So I sent them an email asking if I could come get them touched up after a week. The lady that emailed me told me I did not get Shellac after I explained that I asked when I came in. However, I did not get a call or email back from her. To me because I work in customer service and did nails myself for some time, I would have first off called the customer so I knew the whole story. The only reason I am giving it a 2 star is because I was was pretty much denied coming back in for a touch up because Christine (who did not do my nails) did not bother to get the whole story when I was told by the one who did my nails that I could come back within two weeks if they chipped. Needless to say, my boyfriend just wasted around $50 for nail polish to stay on for 4 days. I had to buy Shellac remover and take them off myself after only a week. Sadly, I don't think I will be giving my money to this location again due to poor customer service through email and to me customer service is the biggest part to a successful business. EDIT*** I just received a call from Kristine. She was so apologetic. She fully took the blame and that is truly the best customer service you can get. I really appreciated her calling me and explaining her side. Now I understand. I guess I didn't take a second to think that in customer service, how crazy busy our work week and schedule can be. I know I am crazy busy all the time making sure our business it running right. So I can definitely blame that part on myself. That call completely changed it all. I go to A Charmed Life whenever I'm in the area. I get a gel manicure and a regular pedicure. The place is cute and clean. I've had different people help me and have found them all to be friendly and very good at what they do. They have a small town vibe but are super welcoming, even if you’re from out of town. Went on the website to request an appointment 4 days in advance. Never got a response back so I attempted to call them MULTIPLE times and no one answered every time I called. I showed up, thinking no news was good news about the appointment request and they said they had never received any email from me. Didn't offer to book me a different day or even attempt to try and keep my business. It was the first time and the last time I will ever go there. Read Less

My pedicure was great, but the owner had her dog running and barking around the salon. It even jumped up on the pedicure chairs at one point. Very unprofessional and unsanitary. Gross. I'm surprised the State Board of Cosmetology even allows that. Read Less

This is a great shop, clean and free of ANY fumes, great atmosphere, it's always a party! The young staff is friendly, competent, and enjoyable. I always leave feeling pretty! My mani/pedi's are lasting. If there are any problems AT ALL, it is because the place is so popular. Be sure you have an appointment, and if you have an event, be sure to call well in advance! I've always had great service. My hubby got my daughter and I gift cards a few times and they're great. Had the charmed mani/pedi package and it was great. Only thing I thought I was supposed to get parefin wax done on my hands too but that wasn't done like I've had with that package before and hadn't really thought about it until later. Read Less

At no point in those 20 mins of sitting there did anyone stop by to check on me, and by the time she came the water was cold. I had to leave as soon as she was done painting and now my big toe is smeared. I would have been able to wait for it to dry properly had she been on time. So disappointing and wasn't offered a compensation of any sort for the delay in service. Alyssa was friendly but don't think I'll be back for a pedicure. I have gotten pedicures for over 15 years from locations in New York to Vegas to random locations in Alabama and Montana and everywhere in between. Hands down, Charmed Life, was the worst experience I've ever had. The service was non existent and the pedicure itself was simply terrible. It was extremely overpriced for what the return on investment was - free wouldn't have been cheap enough for this complete waste of time. The quasi service providers kept disappearing - were doing laundry - were taking breaks - were chatting (or gossiping about coworkers and clients). Clearly, there was also a great distaste that I prefer gel coat over regular polish and were sure to point out the great inconvenience my preference was. Apologies - it's my preference, in which I'm willing to pay for. In the end, weeks later, both my friend and I ended up with ingrown nails - that has never happened. I frequently wonder if the young ladies were licensed because they had no idea what they were doing. Suggestion - do not leave your clients for extended periods of time unless you're getting hot stones, hot towels or the like. I frequently wondered if either young lady would return to their station. It was an odd and uncomfortable experience. If no star was an option... Charmed Life would receive. Read Less

This is my favorite salon by far! I can't even pick a favorite manicurist because they're all so friendly and fun! Mari does AWESOME eyebrows, Becca does perfect shellac, & Ashlee does amazing nail art and pedis! Everyone here is so great at interacting with customers and making them feel comfortable. Had a girl's weekend with the family and came here for some MUCH NEEDED relaxation. ALL of the staff was incredibly friendly and made the overall experience very enjoyable! The decor is simple yet, well, charming, and they are very attentive to cleanliness of both the salon and the sterilization of their tools. The prices are pretty average with basic pedis starting at $30 and a basic mani starting at $20. Not a single bad thing to say about this place.Hint: if you do what we did and book a party, you are allowed to bring in as much food and wine as your heart desires. I love A Charmed Life. I had Spa pedi with sugar scrub by Ashlee. She is the best. It includes a leg message as well. I have fibro so messages can hurt. Ashlee is very aware of this and is very gentle. She does a fantastic job. I'm going Tuesday evening for french nails by Ashlee as well. They may be a little more expensive than some other salons, but I truly believe you get what you pay for. We all need to spoil ourselves once and awhile, especially in the winter. Read Less

Last time I went I came home and had to fix the calluses they missed. My 10 am appointment today got cancelled at 10:05 by phone. Showed up at 10:08 (was driving) and they said I could come back because they only booked me a 30 minute slot. Go to the amazing ladies at Meijer on 10 mile. They fit me in no problem and did an hour with leg massage for cheaper. This place is full of itself and not good. Read Less

We went to A Charmed Life for the first time yesterday and it was so fun! My daughter and my Niece got a pedicure and manicure, the girls took their time let the nails dry and made it when. They redid the nails when the girl bumped and smudged them! My daughters name always come off, in the bath or while she plays and they are still on! I went here to get my toes and nails done for my wedding on 9/24/16. My party consisted on my sister, mother and grandma. We were a little late as my grandma is a little slow moving and we were greeted with nothing but kindness and warmth. The salon itself is beautiful inside and has ample space for many patrons to come at once. All the techs were very friendly and polite. There were 2 that really stood out, 1 was helping my grandma the entire time (Becca was her name). She was absolutely wonderful. Very careful and attentive. The other was my nail tech, and her name was Ashley. She was so sweet and upbeat. Thank you to the staff for your wonderful service and we definitely look forward to visiting again! Read Less

Very unsatisfied. Just had a basic manicure and I have more polish on my hands then on my nails. I do not feel as though the lady who helped me was clean in anyway shape or form. She also had to redo my polish 3 different times! Not acceptable for how much they charge. Read Less

This place is the bee's knees.The decor is very cute and clean feeling inside - and clean is definitely a feeling I like to feel when my nails are getting groomed. Also you don't feel like you are walking into a foreign country, you feel right at home in downtown Rockford!All of the ladies are super wonderful and helpful. They ask you what you want before they begin to working on you as well as during to make sure they are on the right path that you vision.I have had a couple manicures done by Brianna and I have loved them each time.  They were done with normal polish and last beyond a week. She does a fantastic job and is great to chat with.This is also the first place I have gotten my lashes done at - lash extensions. They have a separate area where lashes are done as well as some other spa services. I am so in love with the work Emily has done with my lashes and go back every few weeks to get a fill!I would also like to note that I live in Grand Rapids and drive up to Rockford, just for them! Great experience. I had the basic pedi with none of the frills like sugar scrub or paraffin, but it was nicely done. Reasonable price also at $30. The inside was decorated cute and the big windows around the space are a nice feature. Very nice and helpful salon workers also. Would go there again in the future. Read Less
