I went here for 2 years. The first thing I always noticed was how dusty everything was. Over two years the quality of my mani/pedis went down significantly. The help is usually rude, stuck up, and entitled acting (if you want to get the Rochester treatment). Their polish chips in one day. The last time I went they left me sitting in the pedicure chair for 30 minutes when I had an appointment. Finally Tammy came over to save me and gave me the best pedicure I’ve had in the 2 years I went here. They didn’t even let her finish me up, they bumped her over (which was rude), and the oldest lady did my paint and manicure. Which was not good. She filed uneven, cut me and I was bleeding, and did not cover my whole nail with the polish. On top of it all they don’t know I can mostly understand Vietnamise, and they were talking about their customers for about 30 minutes. I’m sitting here at obsession nails in Rochester! And they just hired the best new nail technician last week! Her name is Tammy! She is the sweetest most charismatic woman I’ve ever had the pleasure of giving me a pedicure. This was my first day off in forever and I usually don’t come here but I was desperate for some good pampering. After working 60 hours a week for the past month it was definitely time to come in. Not only did she carry on a great conversation, but also made me feel like the most important girl in the world. She was polite and very professional! I struggle from really bad ingrown toenails from being a professional dancer for years. Ive never had anyone cut them so perfectly so it doesn’t hurt, in seriously like 10 years! From the beginning to the end I feel like I just grew a new pair of feet with the most beautiful nail color ever! The Salond labeled the nail color I wanted completely wrong in the samples they have in front of the desk in a messy box of colors. So she said trust me, tell me what it want and I’ll find it! She picked out the perfect color! I love it even more then the one I originally picked out. From here on out, I will be coming here just to see her and have her do my nails! She has is the best addition to their staff they’ve had in years! Everyone should request her because you won’t be disappointed! I seriously can’t thank her enough for the amazing pedicure she gave me! For some reason they wouldn’t let her do my manicure today too unless it was by request when I originally made my appointment. I had moved into the area and have been going there for about 4 months now. The first lady that I got with said she didn't do designs so I waited for the next person. I sat down with the new person and then she tried to argue with me about how shellac was better for my nails. Now, yes shellac is better for your nails, but, I have an acrylic overlay so it doesn't matter about the polish. What I wanted was specific and money was not an issue. She then proceeded to tell me that I should do shellac. I didn't want shellac and wonder why they would ask me over 4 times if I wanted shellac. It's not what I wanted. I didn't change my mind the first time why would I change it the 4th? Horrible customer service. The worst in the industry. I also have a license in nails so I do know what is what. I usually have good experiences at this salon, however, I've had my nails done by Lee twice and both times have been awful. First of all, she rushes you to choose a polish color- even if you arrive to your appointment early. She has come to stand over me after i've spent maybe 30 seconds looking at colors. Second, she is rough and careless when she does my nails. She gets through a full set in 25-30 minutes when it should take at least 40, and she constantly yanks at my arm or pushes my hand away. I had her for a pedicure and she finished that in 25 minutes as well. I understand if they had been squeezing me in at the last minute, but I made the appointment well in advance and was still rushed. I gave three stars because I usually have good experiences at Obsession- for example, with Jimmy and Uma. Both are wonderful people and they do a great job. Read Less

I was referred to this nail salon by several of my coworkers a few months back and have never once had a bad experience! Everyone does a great job and should something go wrong with one of your nails they will fix it,No questions asked! Vicky is great and my preferred technician but everyone seems very talented! My dentist recommended Obsession because his wife owns it, and I'm so glad he did! He salon is very nice, clean, they have a ton of shellac options as well. The nail tech that did my nails did a great job cleaning up my cuticles, and actually took the time to cure my shellac properly which I was very happy to see! I came here with my cousin, aunt and sister to get our nails done on Black Friday!I have been here a couple times before but never really had a memorable experience but this visit definitely​ changed that! We called ahead of time to make appointments and they were very agreeable over the phone. We got 4 appointments for manicures, the receptionist​ was very helpful and there were no issues. We arrived at the salon which is nicely decorated. The manicure area is separate​ from the pedicure area, which I thought was a nice touch. I waited for ​the longest (about 3 minutes) until someone took me to get my nails done.My nail stylist, Mia was very helpful and helped me choose my color for me. I told her kind of what I envisioned, and she chose from there. The color was spot on and I am very happy with the choice. She started to work on my nails and did a fantastic job. She took consideration with my cuticles and made sure I liked the nail shape. When she started to paint my nails, she did something I had never seen before. I got a shellac manicure and instead of doing one hand at a time, she did one finger. I had never seen this before and was pleasantly surprised​. It was obvious that she truly took the time to make sure each nail was perfect and I appreciated this greatly. My nails look perfect and I am very happy with the end result. I will never set foot in this business again. I went in with my mom and best friend for mani/pedis for my wedding. We had an appointment, but clearly they were just squeezing us in and we had to wait. It was hands down the worst pedicure I've ever had. My 4 year old niece could have done a better job. The man cut my toenails extremely short, filed one of them on an angle, and the polish didn't even reach the end of my nail. It was so bad I removed the polish as soon as I got home. My nail dip was okay for the first two days, then the top coat on every nail started chipping off and they didn't look very good for my wedding. I would have complained while I was there, but right after he was done, another customer dropped and broke a bottle of bright red nail polish at the drying station and it went all over my friend. It was all over her outfit, on her purse, in her wedding ring, and ruined her nails. I could not believe how the manager treated us. She tried her best to ignore us and brushed us off until she realized we weren't leaving until she spoke with us. She literally said, "it's not my fault", still made my friend pay, and refused to redo her nails. Her entire outfit was ruined, she had to have her nails redone, and have her engagement ring and wedding band professionally cleaned. My mom called the manager when we got home and asked to speak to the owner. The manager told her the owner was out of town and that they'd need to contact their lawyer. (What?!) It took the owner over two weeks to get back in touch with us. She finally, very reluctantly, agreed to give my friend $100, which wasn't even close to the amount of damage that was caused by their poorly located nail polish displays, which are right over the drying station on a marble counter, where people are sitting. I had such a great first time experience there . I walked in very close to closing time   in desperate need of a mani / pedi. Not only was I able to get a great mani ( the owner made my shorter nails look fabulous ) as I was trying  to make an app for tomorrow to come back for a pedi she said we can do that for you today ! It will save you time and money to do it today ! I said are you sure ? It's so close to closing time .... she said sure , no problem. So she set me up at the pedicure station to soak and her nephew did my pedi .... OMG.... he gave me one of the best foot massages I've ever had ( keep in mind I am a Licensed Massage Therapist so it takes a lot to impress me !) he was very friendly and did a great job on my feet . Why? Just why would you work at the nail salon when you can't do nails!! I can't stress enough when I say if you can't polish then don't become a nail tech! The guy I had did a horrible job. It looks like a 3 year old polished my toes. He rushed with the whole spa pedicure. And PLEASE PLEASE STOP SPEAKING IN YOUR OWN LANGUAGE!!!!! For the minute I got there till the very end! Cute salon and they did a decent job. My issue was with hygiene practices. Mid mani, another tech took over for the tech that was working on my nails. I watched in horror as the tech who took over my mani started right in on my nails, coming straight from working on a pedi, WITHOUT changing her gloves. Ew! Read Less

This is the first time I have been to Obsession. The overall atmosphere was very good however I was very unsatisfied with the service I recieved. I went with a friend and they were also going in for just fill-ins, and the nail tech that was doing her nails said she needed a new set, hers were peeling a bit, because of chemicals she works with. After a few seconds, the tech that was doing my nails decided that I also needed a new set, and started to pry back on my nails, and said I needed a new set also. At this point, it was only $10 more so I just went with it. I knew that I didn't really need a new set, because I take good care of my nails, I'm certified to do nails, I just never took interest in doing them. So, after two seconds, she had already cut into my skin, and the acrylic wouldn't come off my nails in the first place. It took her about 25 minutes to actually get the acrylic off, because shockingly, THEY DIDNT NEED REPLACED! So, I'm sitting there with blood on my finger and getting quite pissed off. I decided that if I was getting them replaced that I wanted white tips, and she couldn't get the glue to stick to my nail because of the antiseptic that she used. Which oddly she was acting like that was my fault. My nails were not filed well, and she couldn't get the shape that I had when I came in, so I actually had to go home and re-file, buff and paint my nails. Needless to say, I will not be going back to this Nail Salon, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone either. Upselling isn't always best, and its definitely not the way to keep clients. Read Less
