I have gotten my nails done at SO many places. Oh SO many, ever since I was 16. And I have just now found a lady that makes me comfortable, cares how my nails look and has polite conversations with me. And not just small talk. I got my French manicure at another place. But I came here because it's more conveniently located and closer to my home. So glad I walked in here! We've been taking my daughter to get her nails done for about 2 years. We were very loyal to another place until we started having trouble with the quality of the acrylic used. Her nails just started popping off within a day of getting them done! Thank goodness we. Found this place. They are SO friendly. Just the kindest staff. They are so thorough and gentle. The quality of the acrylic is top notch and the nails stay on great.  We no longer have issues with nails popping off outbox the blue The quality is just overall wonderful. Nails look perfect when you're done. No polish all over your cuticles or smudged nails. They have a bunch of really pretty air brush designs if that's your thing. Prices are great! A full set is only 25$ and they offer 10% off it you're paying cash. My only warning is theybhave a limited number of colors for polish so if you have your heart set on a specific color you might want to bring your own. They have a saltwater tank full of seahorses so it's a super calming environment. We are so happy with this place and can't say enough good things about the quality of work and the owners. So I don't usually write reviews but this experience during my first time in Kalamazoo was amazing! After calling a couple places closer to my hotel who could give me a pedi but not a mani and a mani without a pedi, I landed on this gem! They were fun, accommodating, lovely! Went on a whim to get my nails fixed. I had gone to another salon 2 weeks prior and got acrilic (sp) nails and shellac polish. It didn't last long. Ben took care of me and fixed everything. I was a walk in and they saw me with in 15 min and were very friendly. Only cost $25 for everything. (Not including tip lol) They even have a frequent visitor punch card! I have had my nails done by lyn for awhile now but the last couple times I have been there they have not lasted. The other day I got my nails done there and one fell off while I was putting on my shoe the very next day. When I went to have them fix it it was kinda rushed the nail they fixed is shorter then the rest, isn't the same shape, and it's thicker on one side. Read Less

I had been having my nails done at Hot Nails for years. I would get the acrylics, then the gels then just a manicure for the past few years. I always made an appointment with Lyn but the past six months she has been ruining my nails. It sounds as strange to me as it probably does to you, especially if you know Lyn. She has been snipping my nails (usually one every time I went for a manicure which was every two weeks) and making my nails break way down in the pink part of the nail. This would happen again and again and of course I mentioned it to her but she didn't respond only kept snipping that one nail each time I came in. The breakage would occur a day or so after I was in. I decided to go to another nail salon and guess what? My nails no longer broke way down in the pink part! I would give zero stars if I could. Read Less

I'm not super pleased with my experience.I walked in today and needed one of my nails repaired. I waited about 20 minutes cause their were a couple appointments ahead of me. I finally got into a chair and got another nail put on my pinky.The nail itself looks fine, however, the reason I'm not pleased is because the owners young niece (who I'm sure couldn't possibly have a license) was called over to buff, file, and paint my nails. I would guess she was maybe 12. I was not asked if this was alright, and I was charged for them being painted, which wouldn't have upset me if they were done by someone who actually had a license and experience. I wouldn't have even cared if they would have just checked with me first. By the end, my nails were not dry, they rushed me out, and I now have some rough looking nails. I was in the Kalamazoo area for a family function sometime in May 2004 and wanted my nails done for a fancy evening party I was attending.  It was a family owned operation and there appeared to be 4 people running the joint--a mother, her daughter, the daughter's husband, and another girl whom I'm not sure was related or not.  I started out with the daughter working on my nails and then her husband took over (not exactly sure why) but it wasn't just me--they were cycling around to different customers and I found that quite amusing.  One minor thing--I had picked out a color I wanted but they kept trying to offer me different colors; regardless, I held my ground as a customer and got the color I wanted.  On the off chance I'm ever in the area again, I'd go back to Hot Nails because the service was good, I won't argue with that one.
