I had a stylist mess up my (what I asked for: ice/ ash blonde), to a horrible orangey brassy blonde. Someone recommended Kim at personal image, so I went to her for a fix, wanting to get the orange out, and get back to my natural blonde. Kim was so attentive and made sure to discuss with me the issue and the result I wanted. She then went on to fix me back to a beautiful blonde. She COMPLETELY got the brass out. My hair looked completely neutral, soft, baby blonde- I am SO happy to be back to my favorite shade of blonde!! I highly recommend kim, for blondes especially, she's fantastic. Read Less

***Important*** I just want to shout out a warning to all getting their hair done in Lansing area. If you value your hair STAY AWAY from Personal Image. I had an appointment I scheduled a week ago for the day before I was leaving town. On my way to the salon the hair dresser called and canceled my appointment. I never received a call back to reschedule. If you want a reliable salon with professional staff that values your time and hair DO NOT go to personal image. I would never recommend to anyone. Unless I was Cinderella and my evil sisters needed a salon before the ball, and I would only recommend it then cause well you can imagine why! Value your self you deserve better! Way overpriced. I got a root color touch-up, a cut, and a Pedi. With tip, I dropped $200. The stylist didn't even bother scrubbing the color off my hairline. Twice as much as I'd normally spend and the service wasn't great. Read Less

I get my hair cut and colored with Emily almost every time. She has saved my hair from some messy experiences with other stylists and I've learned my lesson not to go to anyone else! She's awesome and is so enthusiastic about her job and it really shows how much she loves and cares for it. She stays updated with current trends and takes classes quite often too! She is a pro! I recently moved to the area and didn't know a good stylist, but was in desperate need of one. I looked at who had the best reviews and went in to Personal Image Salon & Day Spa! I called to make an appointment and the receptionist was so nice. They got me in the same week and I was paired with Sara Prang. SHE IS AMAZING. She took the time to discuss exactly what I wanted done, gave her professional opinion and made magic happen on my hair. I walked out with a new sense of confidence. She is definitely an artist! I have been a client at Personal Image for the past 4 years, receiving services for my hair, pedicures and massages.  I have ALWAYS been treated with such professionalism.  Each employee brings their own personal flare and experience into the salon.  Crystal does a great job with manicures and pedicures.  She is so gentle and meticulous and with her added massage, it's a little piece of heaven. Her personality is is contagious and it won't be long before you consider her a friend.  The pedicure room is the "HAPPENEN" place at the salon. Not only will you have a wonderful experience, but you will encounter the most charming clientele.  As for my hair, Heidi's specialty is dealing with natural curl in whatever form that takes.  Natural coloring and styles are just a few of her STRONG talents that are far too many to list but trust me, she's worth it! The owner Charles is a one of a kind. He runs the salon with a hands on managerial style.  He has a strong sense of ethics and expects nothing less from his employees. I was looking for someplace new to get a manicure and chose this place because of its location near my home. Sadly, I can't report on the service because I didn't receive my service.I made an appointment with Brenda. When I arrived, the receptionist checked in with Brenda and I was told she was running about 10 minutes behind. I understand things happen, so I said it was no problem and sat down to wait.Well, 30 minutes later and Brenda was still at her station working on her previous appointment. I have been going to Personal Image for about a year now. I only see Abby and I will only see Abby!  She is PHENOMENAL!  She listens to what I want and I always leave impressed!  It is great to see someone who loves their job and is truly passionate about it!Side note: this review is purely based on Abby. I've had a few less than impressive interactions with their reception team. Sadly, this is the first impression of a salon and could turn people away, but, don't run, friends!! My mother had me late in life, and the poor old thing is now so old she can hardly move. "How about a haircut? "What" So my wife and I decided to bring her over to Personal Image. We made an early appointment, and because it was going to take time to get my mother ready, we got up at six, went to her home, and readied her. Hurray! Here we are at personal image. Get mother out, get her walker out, help her creep her way up the long ramp. What;s this? The receptionist greets us at the door: "Mr. so-and-so decided to do someone's color, so you'll have to reschedule".Felix, enraged: What?! It took us hours to get her ready.Receptionist: We can reschedule.Felix: No, and tell Mr so-and-so that he is a....Well, you can imagine the rest. My wife arrived a few minutes later, and, I guess hoping to keep her as a customer, gave her some lame excuse why Mr so-and-so rescheduled.Needless to say, we will never return there. My experience is almost exactly like E.F's above.This was my second bikini wax and my other experience was fantastic. However, my appointment with Nelli was rushed and uncomfortable. I went to her because of so many great reviews online.She said that we had to rush, because she had another appointment in 10 minutes. Umm... okay. I felt very rushed as she hurried and all I had to do was lie there.She was not very thorough with the oil afterward, I had to stop by Meijer and buy some on my way home.When I got home and checked my wax (because I was not able to check things out there because she was too concentrated on her next client and pushing me out), she had missed spots. There are maybe 1-2 dozen stray hairs in my bikini area that I can get with tweezers, but the 'brazilian' part of that was was NOT thorough at all.She seemed friendly, if she wasn't in such a hurry, but I really don't have a way of knowing either way.I will not be going back. If you are fine with sloppy, quick work and a bit of savings, I would recommend her, otherwise, I would spent another 10 Read Less
