At approximately 3:30 I arrived to the shop to find that two people were getting pedicures. I was told it would be about 20min and that I should leave and come back. I walked outside to make a phone call and stepped back in, deciding I would take my chances and stay. Shortly after I took a seat, another customer came in requesting shellac and a pedicure and was promptly seated in a pedicure chair. About 15min later a child and her grandmother entered, picked their colors, and were also promptly seated. After finishing up with one of the pedicures, Kim (the only person who can do fills, which is the service I requested) began to work with the grandmother and child. I could not believe it. I stood up and asked how much longer it would be since 3 people who came in AFTER me are being helped. I was told by the other woman that after she finished her pedicure she would do my eyebrows but then since Kim is the only one who can do fills, she did not know how long it would be. Unbelievable.Since I came in before these two, why wasn't Kim working on MY nails? All of those who came in after me were treated wonderfully and as if they could not wait to service them. The most upsetting part about all of this is that I have been a regular customer (about every 2 weeks) for a little less than a year, and at my last visit I even brought a new customer. Today the actions of the owners and employers of this business indicated to me that my business is less valuable than the business of the non-minorities that came in after me. I am hurt, offended, and appalled and will actively tell everyone I know not to frequent this nail salon. I will never go back to this nail salon- I am sickened to think of all of the money I have given these people over the course of the year in services and tips, just to be treated this poorly. I can only imagine how they may have treated others who look like me and it truly breaks my heart. As a young black woman, I feel that the others who came in after me (all of which were white women) were treated differently than I was. As I sat on the couch, I can honestly say that I felt that the owners and employees at this salon were biased towards me, a FREQUENT AND REGULAR TIPPING CUSTOMER, who happens to be an African-American. It does not make me feel good to attribute what happened to me today to racism, but I cannot help but feel as though race played a role. With that being said, I would urge all of my brothers and sister of color- black, white, yellow, anyone who wishes to be treated with respect, not to frequent this business. Read Less
