I booked an appointment for myself and one other to have manicures and pedicures done yesterday at 2:30pm. When I arrived I was told that whoever booked my appointment hadn't put it in the system and they were too busy to accommodate me. As someone who works in the customer service industry, I am appalled at how I was treated at this location. I was told that I couldn't even reschedule for that day and would have to move my appointment to another day because of an error on th...eir part. I did express that I didn't have another day to come because I am leaving on vacation early Tuesday morning. The answer I received from the young lady at the front desk was that she was new and in training so she couldn't help me and the manager was busy. I wasn't offered an apology or any sort of concern whatsoever. I have been getting my shellac manicures and pedicures here for a number of years and will never return. I have been and will continue to share my experience with everyone I know. This used to be my favourite nail salon, but it has really gone down. The most recent visit 8 of my nails chipped very badly within the first week. The time before 3 fell off completely. I came to Orchid after work on a Friday to get a fill in and was greeted by friendly and professional staff who were able to get me at a station in less than 5 minutes. My nail tech was amazing and she was so pleasant and easy to talk to. All the staff that were working there smiled and said hello and greeted every customer with the same kind energy that came in the door. And, when I broke my thumb nail the day after while carrying a case of water, I went back to Orchid and they fix my nail free of charge. I would recommend staying away from this place. Whatever they used on my nails destroyed them in 1 month. I went to a different salon because I wanted my tips removed and they weren’t able to get all of the “solar gel” off making me wonder what they’re actually using. Don’t waste your money here. Galaxy used to be the only place I went to get my nails done & it’s now the only place I don’t wanna go... however the nail salon I usually go to was closed on Sunday... just one week ago I came in and got a new set.... 3 of my fingers are missing polish... it’s completely peeled off... for what I’ve paid & the fact that it’s shellac polish... this shouldn’t be happening. Very very dissatisfied... I got a set of acrylic done today... Somehow it went from $25 to $45 first off all... Luca told me shellac was $10 but the lady who was doing my boyfriend's daughters nails said the shellac was $7... (Same day same time) and she ended up getting a color she didn't ask for.... my nails are slanted... 2 are extremely slanted and none of the nails fill the nail bed... ill have to fill them in 3 days...very sad considering the money that was spent... I just relocated to Barrie from Windsor. I needed a fill desperately. I had to walk in...normally I make an appt. I was already turned away from a place in Barrie so I was a bit discouraged. I booked an appointment on the 9th of December with Danny for January 5th at 12:00. I go in today and tell them I have an appointment and they tried searching my name / appointment in their system to not find anything. Pretty sad that my appointment wasn’t even put in when I booked it a month in advance. The best they could do for me was “do you request anyone else”. I specifically booked with Danny because I have heard of good reviews so I had no interest in going to anyone else. They did not ask for my number or anything to try and fix this situation. I am giving a 2 only because my daughter's so far are happy with their nails however one is a bit slanted. Now I am so unhappy and have sent a message (let's see what happens) something went wrong with the polish only on my left hand for some reason which in return had to be redone 4 times. Now my left hand is so much thinner than my right. I also made the comment that this would happen and was told "oh no trust me". Well I was right. Hopefully they rectify this situation. Horrible place. I've tried a few different locations and all were bad. Got an acrylic set on the weekend that I hate and I am stuck with.... They try to tell you acrylic only comes pink based and solar is clear when in reality they only want the extra money since there's no difference between solar and acrylic and acrylic does come in a clear finish. Which meant since I knew better then to spend the extra on solar they used a pink finish over sparkle tips so my nails look foggy and horrible. This is my favorite spot to go for a mani pedi! The prices are great and the staff is professional and courteous. I always leave here feeling great about my nails and how they look. I can understand why there's always a steady stream of people coming in and out. I call ahead for an appointment so I never have to wait but the walk ins seem to get their time in quickly as well. They did really really good on my nails!! I got a set of acrylics and did shellac on top with. French manicure. I don't get the fake nails often but it sure was a treat. The only downside was they didn't out any lotion or oil on my hands and every single girl next to me got some on their hands and slight massage... my hands are still really dry because of soaking my hands in the acetone, I just wished for some lotion. Having my 3rd pedi here and this time I'm with one of the male technicians. He's quick, thorough, and can polish my toes better than I can (I am a licensed hairdresser also trained in nails), aaannnnd he just melted a weeks worth of stress out of my feet. Very surprised by the other review of the male nail tech. I actually am extremely picky when it comes to a pedicure and found this young man to be excellent in both technique and personality. I was a walk-in customer. A young man did my pedicure and apparently didn't know what he was doing. He used the foot file in a very casual manner, a few swipes here and there. Later on, he used the cuticle trimmer quite a bit to remove some calloused skin left over from where he missed with the file. He trimmed my toenails at a very sharp angle at the corners...I've never seen it done quite that way before. While painting my toenails, his own fingernails (longer than mine) dug painfully into the bottoms of my toes as he held them. He was trained very poorly. Other than saying "thank you" when I paid the bill (NO tip!), I don't think he spoke English at all; he relied on a coworker to translate what I wanted done. Not going back there. Read Less
