Went for a pedicure, the lady working on me went all out, full cheese grater on my nasty unmaintained tootsies. She filed my hooves back down to flesh, all with a pleasant smile and lack of judgement. I have feet soft enough to put on hubbies back when they're cold (without fear of scratching him). I was visiting my bestie from NJ. She just had a baby and needed a nice spa day. We booked pedicure appointments with Kim and Lynn based on previous reviews and they did not disappoint. We got the the VIP Pedicure package. They spend their time on us, offered a beverage in the beginning and kept asking if what they were doing was okay or if we felt any pain etc. It felt amazing they cleaned our feet so well that they looked like new born baby feet and shaped and smooth out toe nails perfectly (and I'm very picky about that). I like this nail salon because they usually do my nails the way I like them. My chief complaint about this location is that service suffers when they are busy. I've had many times when I had to work in and waited for a really long time for a subpar experience. I've had my nails filed unevenly, they've made me bleed (on more than one occasion), and communication can be an issue with some of their technicians. Multiple terrible pedicures, hurt me and made my toe bleed. People speaking in foreign language (probably about customers). Difficult to understand when they do actually speak English. I've gone to dozens of nail salons all over the state and this is one of the best. The massage chairs are the comfiest I've ever been in, and this place seems to go above and beyond many of its competitors - free beverages, longer foot rubs, etc. The prices are decent too - slightly higher than most nail salons, but the quality of the service is well worth it. I don't live in Grand Rapids but will utilize this salon when I'm in town and in need of a pedicure. Highly recommend. Read Less

I recommend Emily for acrylic nail service. She doesn't speak much though she converses here & there, I also didn't mind it. She takes her time and makes sure that my nails were above standard. She is nice, sweet, & polite. I will definitely be returning to her for her service was exceptional. I just went here yesterday. The lady that did my nails was amazing! I have nothing bad to say about the service or products, but I only went in for shellac so I expected to pay the usual $10+ tip. I ended up paying $30 +tip. They did a whole bunch extra that I didn't want. I had never had my nails done here before so I just thought it was part of the service. It wasn't. It was a nice job but it would have been nice to be asked before they did all that extra stuff to be sure that it was what I wanted. I had originally just come in for a fill (first time coming here) but after taking my polish off my tech noticed more than a few nails were lifting and she ended up taking them all off rather than just trying to make them work. She was super friendly, kind, explained everything and why they do each step etc. There were no awkward silent moments that I have experienced at other salons before. I deducted one star for the bleeding appendage, overzealous arm massage (that occurred nearly an hour ago, but the reddening of my arms remain), and for having the shape of my feet (not exactly a controllable factor, darling) mocked. One star remains for cleanliness and another because after losing the last two hours of my life to the silent treatment of customer service I am hopeful the quality of the end result will make it all worthwhile. Very clean and relaxing atmosphere.  I took my girls age 10, 8, 8 and they were able to get them right back for their pedicures. They did a great job. One of my daughters messed up her nail because she bumped a table and they re-did it no problem. They went out of their way to make sure their nails were perfect before we left. I appreciate the fact that Kim was very thorough when doing my pedicure. She pays attention to detail. There is a bit of a language barrier so if I want something done a certain way I have to have another nail tech ask her for me. The shop is clean and quiet the times I've been here. It's a little bit different from some shops I've been to where they seem to be doing 3 things at once. So I'm gonna stick with VIP nails for now. Maybe you will check them out too. Read Less

This newish nail salon is clean, bright, and they do a nice job. My daughter and I did a walk-in and were able to get in immediately. Granted, it was a Monday afternoon, but we had a good experience. Great place to get a mani or pedi for a good deal! They have separate spaces depending on the service which makes it nice and relaxing. They also offered my friend and I free beverages while we had our pedis. Nice little bonus are the $35 facials. Read Less

Great service.  Walked in for a pedicure and eyebrow wax after reading other yelp recommendations. So glad that I tried it out and am now wishing VIP was in my neighborhood.  The pedicure was great with a really good massage. Today was my first visit to VIP nails. I was impressed by the cleanliness and professionalism right away. There were such cute pedicure chairs for young girls, I was very impressed! The woman who waxed my eyebrows and lip did a great job very quickly. The price was a great deal too. The only reason I deducted a star was that she went so fast she ended up tearing off a small amount of skin on my lip. It's not that bad but it doesn't feel great. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I waited half an hour to be worked on but wasn't made aware of the wait before hand. That being said, they were VERY polite and apologetic about the wait. The place is spotless, everyone there is so nice and I FINALLY have a set of nails that I love! I will be back. I noticed that there was a new nail salon open in this strip mall with a welcoming banner!My friend and I were already at the Starbucks next door and wanted to have a relaxing Sunday so we popped in for a quick mani pedi!First of all, I'm so happy to see this mall being filled up with a variety of new businesses! The interior is quite nice, they have the pedi and mani rooms separated which some places don't do, and it made the whole experience a lot more relaxing!The woman who took care of my nails was friendly and did an excellent job on my nails and took care of my requests for a nail a design I wanted at no extra charge!My friend commented that the woman who took care of her pedicure was also very friendly and really seemed to do a whole hearted job!Recommend this place to everyone! This is my favorite place to get a manicure and/pedicure. I decided to take a break from packing and moving into our new house...and got a plain ol' manicure at VIP Nails-Kentwood. I am not sure what products they use or how they do it, but my new manicure/polish hasn't smudged or worn off, even with the "brutal" lifting of boxes and the like. With most salons I can't even get out the door with some sort of damage. The staff is really friendly. My manicurist did make my cuticles bleed, but she was very apologetic and put some antiseptic liquid on it. The new re-model makes the place kind of different from most strip mall nail salons. I have been going to VIP for more than 6 years. All the ladies are nice and the place is clean and the service is good. My favorite technicians are Tina, Lynn, or Wynn for manicures and pedicures or Kenny when I was still getting acrylics. My friend brought me here, because it is the only place she ever gets her nails done and now I know why. It is sooo clean, and the women are so friendly! I was very impressed and comforted by their sanitation techniques. They have 12 color options for shellac, and they are the best I've seen! It lasts so long.
