Only reason I gave this a 2 star is I got a pedi too that was fairly decent. The mani is a disaster. Don't get the powder/dip!  Honestly my nails are a hot mess. There is residual polish outside of the nail .. on my finger tips etc. This was a $60 mani!!! I would expect much better quality for the price and venue. As you walk into the salon your mind relax, low lights and sounds of waterfalls. You are great with smiles and hellos. I went for a blowout mid day on Saturday. My stylist Melissa greeted me, ask me what and how I like my hair. Than took me to the sink to wash my hair. The chair reclines and massage you gentle. She kept conversation light, and pleasant. My first spa experience was here last year and I'm so excited to go back next week! The whole staff is super friendly and accommodating, and we were even allowed to bring in our own snacks and drinks! The whole salon has a super classy, cozy feel and I loved our little private room where we could relax and eat/drink. I got a massage, a facial and a pedicure and all three services were sublime. Nice setting, although the two stylists I went to were inexperienced with blonde subtle balayage technique. I was specific with wanted I wanted and brought photos of the technique. My hair was over processed and brassy, then corrected with dye and toner which made it a muddled color. The owner was not willing to correct a third time or refund my money for service. My girlfriends and I had the place to ourselves for our ladies day/bachelorette spa day and it was amazing! The staff went above and beyond, topping off our wine and grabbing our snacks from our room. We each got a massage, facial, and pedicure...everyone enjoyed all their services. Very impressed with the massage I received. I have tension in my upper back/shoulders/neck that is a constant battle, and Anita was able to work out the knots. Instead of doing the normal full body massage and going back to my problem areas, she focused specifically on working out the tension which was fantastic. I enjoy a firmer massage and she did an amazing job. The spa is a little hidden, the door is on the corner of he building to the right of Allstate. It's a very comfortable atmosphere, I like the running water in the lobby area. The massage rooms and bathrooms are also very comfortable, and the salon is a separate section which is nice- I'd spend all day there if the budget allowed! Read Less

Crown Jewel consistently offers top notch service, in a peaceful and lovely setting.I have been seeing Amanda for Brazilian Blowouts for the past five years. I, honestly, do not think that you could find a better Spa and Salon other than that of The Crown Jewel in Grand Rapids! Their service and expertise goes way beyond what you would expect from a traditional hair salon. The facility, itself, gives you a sense of serenity and peace when you enter the salon greeted by soothing sounds of water and a cozy sitting area by the fire. The front desk is always very professional and offers to take your coat and get you a beverage of your choice. I have learned so much about premium hair care from my stylist and how to keep it looking its best by being a loyal customer since 2007! I typically see Melissa for my hair services but will go to ANY one of their stylists, if needed. The Crown Jewel does an amazing job of employing only THE best and continually educates them with new innovations! Service far beyond my expectations.. I called in to the Crown Jewel last minute to book a massage appointment. They were able to get a 90 min massage book for me the following day with Anita. I was shocked that I was able to get something scheduled so quickly especially since most of the surrounding spas expect you to book several days in advance and rarely make exceptions. I arrived to my appointment and I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist. She offered to take my coat and asked if I would care for some hot tea, water or if I preferred something else. Shortly after, the owner (Julie) of the Crown Jewel came into the lobby and we engaged in a pleasant conversation. Its rare that you have the opportunity to meet the owner of a spa and it was nice to be welcomed by not only a pleasant receptionist but the owner herself. Anita joined us in the lobby and took me back for a massage. I have had several massages over the years and I have to say Anita was amazing. She is very professional and a fabulous massage therapist. I enjoyed the full body massage ....and ABSOLUTLY, hands down the best neck massage I have ever had. I was so pleased with my experience that I purchased a gift card for a friend on my way out. I was looking to get a pedicure for a trip to Florida. This place is definitely not worth the money as far as pedicures go. Started 15 minutes late  and was disappointed with the end result. Nail painting was not very good and luckily I picked a color that didn't show it. They did have a great color selection but I am sure there are better places to get a pedicure. Read Less

I've been to just about every spa in the Grand Rapids area and STILL Crown Jewel Spa & Salon is the best. I'm a widow with two very young girls and it's a challenge sometimes to have everything go as planned to treat myself. I made an appointment and had to cancel at the last minute because my child was really sick. While Crown Jewel's policy is to charge for the appointment if it's cancelled the day of (which I totally understand), they were TOO KIND to not charge me. I have rescheduled my appointment for next weekend and plan to tell every single one of my friends about their services. THIS spa deserves the business. I have had a few hair services, as well as a pedicure at Crown Jewel. The salon is very lovely. I like the setting and atmosphere. It is definitely classy.  The staff has always been kind, friendly, knowledgable and helpful. Amanda is a great hair stylist. The salon carries some of the best products and the pedicure chairs are luxurious, the polish selection was extensive, and my experience was heavenly. My feet looked great for several weeks. Pricey, but worth it. I prefer to be pampered in a relaxing environment versus going to a wild salon (not my style).  I have not had any massage or facial services here yet, but I have a friend who has and said it is wonderful. I received a gift card to Crown Jewel Spa & Salon. I had never been there before but was pleasantly surprised when I walked in the door. I was greeted by a friendly, helpful staff and was asked if I cared for any beverages. The atmosphere is beautiful and tranquil - a perfect place to relax and be pampered! I will definitely go back here. My only complaint is that the prices are pretty steep. My manicure was $45. If the cost isn't relevant, then this is definitely the best spa/salon in Grand Rapids! The Crown Jewel is honestly the most beautiful salon i have ever been to! The front desk immediately made me feel welcomed, and offered me a variety of drinks as well as a warm eucalyptus hand towel. I spent the entire afternoon getting spa treatments as well as a cut and color. Angela was amazing! She listened to me, and gave me exactly what i wanted with my hair.
