Overall, wasn't terrible. Had an appointment for 4:30, she started doing my nails at 4:40. The shape isn't the best, color isn't even on all nails which makes them look super cheap, not cleaned up very well, the nails are way too thick in some areas. Just not the best I've ever had. I love this place! I live nearby so one day I thought if try it and I go nowhere else. The 3 people who work here are so welcoming and got to know me. Worst pedicure ever! Nails cut crooked, took off part of my big toenail on the side. Hope I don't get an ingrown nail. The Polish was gunky and she painted the skin all around my nails. This was the worst place I have ever gone to get my nails done. I have been to many different nail salons in Michigan and have been getting acrylics since I was a freshman in high school. The amount of acrylic on my nail  far to thick and the nail tech just kept adding more and more. The nail polish I had picked out wasn't the right consistency so the tech added something to the bottle to help get the polish out. She then put 3 coats of the polish on before she finished with a top coat. The second my nails started to dry under the light they started to bubble. I did not have time to get them fixed that day so I left very angry with how my nails turned out. I then went to a different salon a few days later to fix my nails. The nail tech at this salon spent 2 hours filing off some of the acrylic from my nails so they would look more natural. She also cleaned up the over hang of acrylic that I had on the sides of my nails. The other nail salon I wet to was great but I will not be coming back here again. Read Less

So I was about to give a good review because my shellac looked super awesome, and for a mani/pedi I was in and out the door in 45 mins (the other place I go takes twice as long)...and then it started to chip. The day after it was done. And, it's not like I was doing anything crazy with my hands over 24 hours; I think the most wear and tear my nails got was washing a dish.I was not impressed with my pedi in the first place. It was fairly messy, and looks like I did it. But it was my first time going and I thought meh, you win some you lose some. It was relaxing, however it looks. Service is nice, professional, and clean. However, do not be fooled by "gel nails". They will give you acrylics and just use a gel topcoat. I did not know the difference between gel and acrylic fake nails until just recently, and I now know that I received acrylics and paid $5-10 more than I should've because I thought they were gel nails. I went to a different nail salon to have my full set removed and had 3 infections growing under the nails Cheshire Nails had put on me. SO DISGUSTING. I have had my nails done consistently for 10 years and this has never happened to me. I got a shellac manicure which chipped within three days of getting it done. The manicurist was fast and sloppy, and when I asked him to please cover the edges of my nails he got an attitude with me. I went back and had it fixed, and they chipped again within the day. I went back to try acrylic nails. The woman doing my nails did not take direction well. I asked her for square nails, and she kept rounding them off. I had to keep asking, and they kept getting shorter and shorter. She painted my nails and there were three small hairs in my nails, I had to ask her multiple times to remove the hairs and she just scrapped them off with a metal tool, smearing all the nail polish instead of removing the polish and starting over. I got this set put on 3 days ago, and two the my nails are already lifting off from the base. When I was trying to give direction to the manicurist, the owner came over and told me to trust them. It was completely rude and unprofessional. I will NEVER go back to this place unless it changes ownership. I'm thoroughly disappointed that I spent any money with them.Read Less

I went in to an eye brow wax and when it came time to pay I handed them my debit card. She asks me if I had cash. No, this is why I give you my debit card. After transaction was over, the man doing someones nails hollers to me from across the room, and in front of all customers "next time you get eyebrow wax, you pay cash". TOTALLY DISGUSTED and humiliated. If you don't want my money, I will take my business elsewhere! And that's what I told him. POOR POOR POOR business ethics (I really mean NONE). Cheshire Nail and Spa is the best place to get a pedicure /shellac manicure in Grand Rapids. Jackson the owner is incredibly friendly and accommodating. I have seen him stay open extra hours for an emergency shellac manicure!!!! Girl was going on a surprise vacation the next day....he stayed open to help her feel beautiful. I just recently began to grow my nails. Before this I wore fake nails. Had my first manicure with my own nails A month ago. Not here. Loved it! Heard about French shellac nails. Love the style. Had an expired coupon for a VIP ped&man.For $48. Decided to use the $24 instead toward a $28 shellac, since it never expires for the amt. paid. Because the original owner left they wouldn't honor my coupon unless I added $24 for the VIP, which is not required with groupon. So. I spent $28 plus tip only to have my nails trimmed almost completely down. Jackson did make my cuticles look good, tho he nicked one of my fingers. He was critical of my cuticles that were done 5 weeks earlier! But at least at the other place, I walked out with length on my nails. The French style looks nice from afar, but stubs are not what I paid for. Perhaps someone else in there knows how to not whack off nails but this left me in tears! I am somewhat torn on writing this review. I called to make an appt for my sister & I to get pedicure's on her birthday. I called and asked if they had a 10:00 am available & was told no, only 11:30. So I called my sister to see if that worked for her and then called the salon back. This time when I called the guy told me they had a 9:30 available. Uhm, ok. 5 minutes later....weird but I took it. So we arrive for our appt and nobody else is there yet. They show us to our chairs next to each other and get us drinks - cans of soda. The place seemed really clean and a lady was even going around cleaning while we were there so that made me happy. The chairs were really nice, love the massage. I am pretty sure the girl who did my pedi didn't speak any English really. Most of the time when I talked she would look at the guy doing my sisters pedi so he could tell her what I said. I said I didn't want a color but the french tips - clear with white tips. I have pink with white tips. Two different color pinks too because one foot got an extra coat. We had the deluxe pedicure so they do a bit of massaging on your leg - to be honest they way she dug her knuckles into my calves was quite painful, not enjoyable. When I made the appt I stated that I had a Groupon and the guy said "yeah ok" and hung up. When I went to pay and I gave the lady my Groupon she said "Oh, you have a Groupon" and sounded a little disappointed about it and starts speaking to a guy there in her native language. So I give a tip, say thank you and walk through the door. As I get through the door she calls me back to tell me it is $5 extra for white tips. Now I am fine with that but I think you need to make that known when someone asks for it. I also felt like she was just mad about the Groupon so she threw on an extra charge.
