Alma is one phenomenal hair artist. First and foremost, she gives a great consultation. As fate would have it, I found her after a bad experience at a chain salon. Alma worked me through three pretty funky stages. Not having much to work with at my first visit (I had a very asymmetric cut and my short side was nearly shaved, something done at a chain salon, which I didn't ask for!!), but after getting me over the hump of growing in and then getting to the point where she could give me the best of the best in terms of her cuts, I arrived at the PERFECT PIXIE. Tonia gave such an amazing acne facial. I had never gotten a facial before so I didn't know what to expect but I had heard only great about her! She was very educated about all of her techniques and it was overall very relaxing. She even gave me a recipe for the best face mask to use on my skin type. Another amazing thing she did was work with my very sensitive and dry skin that has a lot of acne trouble. Tonia at Michelle's is by far the best and most attentive nail technician I've found in Livingston County. She is prompt, professional, and very enjoyable to talk to. I came to her from another location and my nails were a total mess; paper thin. We discussed product options and she offered suggestions based on the condition of my nails and active life style. Tonia is super gentle, yet very meticulous. And...for the huge germa-phobe as I am, I was very happy to see the attention Tonia pays to cleaning & sterilizing her tools!I thought the hand massage Tonia gave me was the best and then she gave me a pedicure. Yep, that massage chair is great, but Tonia does everything to make you feel comfortable including bringing you wine! Some of the other places I've been to seem to just go through the motions; Tonia is very attentive and thorough. She's so much more detailed and attentive to your feet and calves than those quick service places. I felt so pampered! It's been really hard trying to find a great salon for a guy around town. Thankfully I don't have to look anymore. Jessie does a great job on my fade and pompadour that rivals my guy when I lived in Chicago, and Tonia is literally the best esthetician I've ever been to. I recently had my hair blown out and straightened by Jessie. I have super thick ethnic hair and my hair can be a bit deceiving because when it's flat ironed it becomes super fine. Jessie did such a phenomenal job! She's super talented and I never thought I would be able to find someone in the town of Brighton to do my hair type. But like Jessie said, hair is hair! :) She's super knowledgeable, patient, and skilled at her craft. I'm even referring my boyfriend to get a pompadour there! PLEASE just don't get airbrush make-up done here. Machine didn't work properly, kept going on and off, said she was going to put a touch of color, more like she emptied an entire makeup pallet of the  BRIGHTEST color on my eyes! My end result? I looked like a clown / drag queen! (Seriously!!) $65 is a rip off for that level of make-up "professionalism" (no where near a professional make up artist) and I gave a $20 tip, but I guess that's my fault for not looking in a mirror first. Was BERY EMBARRASSED to go anywhere after seeing my face in my car mirror!! Trust me, you'll thank me for this review.... Wanted to let you know that this place was top notch in service!I had booked an appt. for an out of town hair cut and color, they set me up with Kelly, a fantastic colorist.. She knew exactly what was wanted and would look fantastic;) She was spot on! My hair was sun and pool frazzled, transformed into a rich,warm,burgundy glow, shiny and soft for Fall.  Relaxing and peaceful at 9am.. Big windows to enjoy the sun. Very reasonable prices and she was knowledgable about what hair products were for me.  Recommend highly! Will be booking another hair appt.  in the future. This place has all of the right elements for a successful day spa. The spa is separate from the salon (helps keeps outside noise to a minimum), robes and flip flops to change into, a locker to lock up belongings, heated massage table, relaxing music, lightly scented lotions, excellent staff, a shower room (if you need to rinse off lotions after massage) and all at comparable prices. There are very few things that would have made my experience better. I can only think of a few suggestions: 1. Update to the spa waiting area with higher quality chairs and decor to ease into the whole spa experience2. Provide great smelling shower gel, shampoo/conditioner in the shower stall3. Provide a bottle of water  for visitors exiting the spa4. Maintain the noise level of the chatter behind closed doors (nothing ruins a relaxing massage like loud talking)Having this spa so close to home saves me the trip to spa's in Detroit suburbs or up in Linden- I am so happy I checked it out! The front desk was warm and welcoming, the esthetician there was not as pleasant. I tried to tell the owner /manager of my experience, and I got a very rude response and no apology. I have worked at another salon and tried to explain this to Marcel, that I had to go there to get a service for my anniversary and was treated rudely by his staff. Marcel said, and I quote "Shucks, what will we do for entertainment around here now. "I am from another salon and I am here to help".Please save us from your help in the future". I was a paying client and needed somewhere to go for a wax. I take bad experiences and try to grow from it. I could of been a steady wax client, but instead was treated so poorly by the manager. Do not go to this salon. The owner/manager is very unprofessional, and very rude. I wish he could of taken my comments as constructive criticism, and not been so defensive.
