One of the Very worse Salon experiences- My Nail Tech cut my finger cuticles so Overly done That the next day skin was peeling two inches from my nail bed. Not only does it look terrible- it's painful AND invites infection. Cmon with All the availability of Nail salons in Palm Beach WHY would any salon Not school their technicians to DO the procedure Properly? A few more classes in English is Always highly suggested I say....... My grown daughter & Grandaughters also joined me to enjoy Manicure & Pedicures this same day. My daughter had a Brand new young tech that should Never been working with the Public yet-- This tech spoke very little English-- in addition she was actually asking my daughter questions in regards to HOW to Do the gel procedure-- as in asking her " how many coats"??? My daughters nails were soo poorly done I insisted on a Refund for her horrendous experience-- which took nearly TWO hours - as myself and granddaughters waited for her at least one hour After our nails were done. Asking for the Refund for only my daughters messed up Nail procedure became a Huge hassle with Manament/ Owner. They were Rude and tried Everyway possible to Not Refund her. The nail person did a horrible job cut my skin and burnt a hole in my nail with the instrument used to remove the old polish Then as I’m sitting there bleeding he has the audacity to tell me he is not going to charge me. I finally found a great nail salon!! An did my nails and my eyebrows and I must say I was very very impressed!! My eyebrows had been uneven for a while because the last two places I went messed them up so I had to let them grow some, but An managed to get them right!! She also did an AMAZING job on my nails I told her exactly what I wanted and she delivered 100%- well I'm very picky about my nails.All of the staff are wonderful, the gentleman that treats you up front is very pleasant as well, he instantly greets you, ask what you need so he can get you the right color samples (they have more colors than you could possibly try and all are beautiful) and also offers you a nice refreshment. This used to be one of my favorite places.. I went in yesterday and will never be back again. It has gone downhill BAD! $60 for a pedicure and wasn't ever offered a water. They cut my toenails so short, they now hurt. I asked to get my nails done and saw three others who came in after have theirs completed. When I got up to walk out they asked to help me. NO THANKS! I don’t normally write reviews but I’ve been here a few times and the level of service and the quality of their nails are fantastic every time! They are always as helpful as they can be about fitting you in even if they are busy. I’d highly recommend them especially seen as they have good prices for a high-fashion salon! Best salon I’ve ever been to! The staff are all super nice and very talented! My nails always look great afterwards. It’s a fun, relaxing environment and a r...eally great space. I don’t remember how many times I come to Gravity Nails. I just remember that my best friend Amy told me about Gravity and I just thought to try it once. I had a manicure with Tom. He did my nails the best. I haven’t ever got my nails at anywhere better than Gravity. On that night, I joined a party and all my friends there also complimented me for the new look. That’s a wonderful memory that I may never forget. And then, I come to Gravity more regularly up to now. I mainly ge...t manicure here and can’t remember how many designs they did for me on my nails. Sometimes, when I need to make nails as soon as possible, I still call to Jen for a quick appointment and they always make me satisfied with it although my time is limited. You know, my work requires me to meet many people and customers outside, so, I’m very interested in my appearance. You can’t image how confident I am with my excellent nails. Will never go back to this salon. I used to go here all the time, went back today to have four gel nails fixed, they were done 6 days ago and started to peel. After taking all of them off (when I asked if she thought the rest would start to peel) I was told they'd give me a discount. For a fix. Got a groupon for a mani pedi.  When I walked in the place was a little sketchy.  The girl who did my service was right out of beauty school.  She was not comfortable clipping or nipping so she want very slow.  I wanted a french and she was really not comfortable doing it and my sheer polish was streaked which is hard to do with a sheer color.  It was also very unprofessional that the other technicians were eating their subs at the table in front of me- tacky!  A manicure and pedicure should take 1 hour 30 minutes.  I was supposed to get a goodie bag but they were out of then so they offered a gift certificate to come back for a free service.  It was so bad that after 2 1/2 hours I just wanted to get out of there and did not want the certificate.  I don't care if the manicure is free.  My time is worth something and also the quality of the work was not there.  I do have to say on the positive - I was greeted proptly and everyone was friendly. I purchased the Groupon deal so I could try out a new mani/pedi place in Birmingham.  I called several times during the day to make my reservation and no one ever answered.  So, I went online and emailed the address on the website requesting an appt with a 3 hour time frame on the date I was available.  I received an email back that my appt was made...no phone call, no specific time...just a copy of my request.  Okie dokie.I work in downtown B'ham and never heard of or saw this place so I called several hours ahead of my so-called appt time and left a message asking that someone please call me back with directions.  No one called back.  Like others stated, it is pretty hard to find since it is upstairs from other businesses and good luck trying to find the right entrance door!Upon entering I was greeted by two very young, nice girls who were dressed in sweatpant-type outfits (and when they bent over they provided a show from behind...UGH). The small room was stark white and looked like they just moved in and threw some pictures up on the wall (which were autographed pictures of artists to Arian Simone...WHO?).It seemed they brought in some chairs and buckets from home to do the pedicures...and it was freezing.  When my toes were being polished I had to prop my feet up on the small stool that my pedicurist was sitting on and use my strength to hold them in place. When I tried to relax her stool slid back and the polish got messed up...so, it was a workout as well...bonus! Not...Mani and pedi were so-so but this process took 2 1/2 hours! The entire time the "manager" behind the desk played on her ipad and changed the radio station.  At the very end she approached me to tell me that the "Gift Bags" that were promised in the Groupons were no longer available!  But she did write up a free EXPRESS mani/pedi coupon on a business card for me!!!  Wow, because I SO want to go back there.  She also explained that an EXPRESS mani/pedi does not include any soaking.  I think that might actually be a good thing there :)WILL...NEVER...GO...BACK Read Less

Where do I even begin? This was just an absolutely horrendous experience for myself and my friend. We purchased the Groupon for the supposed $90 deal: a deluxe mani/pedi with OPI nail polish, a class of wine, and a gift bag with free goodies. It sounded wonderful and my friend and I were looking forward to a fun filled evening in the amazing downtown Birmingham.Upon stepping into the salon, we were shocked at how tiny of a space they had, and then doubly shocked at the small selection of nail polish. Maybe 20 bottles? Very disappointing. We were able to overlook the portable nail stations and foot baths, even the unprofessional appearance of the employees didn't bother us too much. But what got us... this wine that was highlighted as part of our Groupon deal was offered to every customer that came in. The lady that did my friend's nails did an absolutely horrible job. The polish started bubbling and looked horrible right away. The polish just wouldn't dry, so we knew something was wrong. Well, the girl that did my friend's nails left as soon as she finished so she couldn't even be held accountable. My technician (who is also the owner) had to fix her entire manicure after she finished up with me. What should have been an hour and a half - TOPS - trip, turned into two and a half hours. And the whole time the staff were loudly discussing their personal lives. Not what I want to hear when I'm getting treated to a "spa" mani/pedi.The kicker to the whole evening - we were told that they were all out of the gift bags that we were so excited for. It was a sugar scrub and mango body butter that were the only two highlights of the whole trip. They offered to let us come back and get an express mani/pedi... we both live quite far from Birmingham and were not keen on coming back to their shab of an establishment. After we were visibly upset and unhappy with our experience, the owner begrudgingly took down our addresses and names - all the while acting like she was doing us a huge favor. It's been about 3-4 weeks since our visit and still no gift bag. I definitely would not EVER recommend going there. Unprofessional, slightly rude, and overall not a great job on the manicures. I purchased the Groupon they were offering. Located in downtown Birmingham, it was initially hard to find. But if you park in the structure, make a right and look up, you will see SOCIALITE BEAUTY BAR on the window in white lettering. Its on the 2nd floor. I  was all confusing and started walking down Old WW and had to back track a bit. But I love walking in downtown so it was OK and I knew I was close. The groupon included a glass of wine, manicure/pedicure, and a bag with some beauty items. However, my appointment was in the morning so they gave me coffee instead. In my beauty bag I received body butter and a sugar body scrub. I love the both of them and I used all of my scrub. I would definitely buy more, it made my skin so soft! My only grip would be that the manicurist could have paid more attention to my cuticles but all in she was really nice and took her time. I have just read the other reviews regarding the polish selection. I brought my own color that time. I would have to agree that they did not have nail dryers and limited equipment. No wonder they have to offer Groupon and Living Social deals, I can't imagine anyone paying full price! I will not be returning. The location barely deserves a downtown Bham address... The space was up some stairs next through an unmarked door, it looked like it could be used as an office rather than salon. When I arrived after finally finding the place next to the Quizno's, I immediately noticed there were no pedicure chairs like even the strip mall nail joints have. They had some upholstered chairs and portable foot baths. I have a portable foot bath at home, strike one.The manicure stations were also portable. It looked like something from a 7th grade sleepover! Strike 2. Choosing a polish color didn't take long, there were only about 20 options. Strike 3. The Groupon deal I purchased was very misleading, nothing I experienced was worthy of the $90 price tag they advertised. I had to ask for my complimentary glass of wine, which was $3 buck chuck from the local Trader Joe's and the glass was filled so high it sloshed over the edge as the girl walked back with it (either the girl had never poured wine before or she was purposely overfilling my glass to get rid of the bad wine).  I'll let that one slide because more wine usually is good and the best Mani I ever had was sans wine so that isn't an indication of their core business. I also won't count the fact that they had a Criminal Minds marathon playing, I like CM, but it doesn't exactly spell relaxing or salon. Neither does the fact that my nail tech had her cell phone ringer on high and the "manager/owner/whoever" took a long loud call on her cell in the tiny space. I even know what food she ordered for dinner. Strike 3 or 4.I had to ask my tech to fix my nails when she filed them deadly sharp squares after I requested the shape of square/oval.  I felt bad asking her to fix them multiple times, so I just shut my mouth knowing I could file them correctly when I got home.  I stabbed myself multiple times during my drive home before I could fix them.  Why would anyone want that dangerous shape of nails?  I can still see some gray polish I had on my nails before I went into the salon, maybe they should use a better nail polish remover?  I know a great one for $0.89.  The towel used to wrap my legs in were full of nail polish stains, so I can only assume it is used as drop cloth when not draped across client's legs.The woman I assumed to be the owner/manager looked at me like I was nuts when I asked about the gift bag.  I lost out on something they claim was $30 value and I love free stuff.  It was a highlight in the Groupon ad, but then again so was the fact that they use OPI nailpolish.... isn't that a pretty standard brand?  It's not like they're handing out bottles of OPI nailpolish as your door prize.  By this point I just wanted to go home and hoped the tools that were just used on me were clean. I bought a groupon for the "delux" mani/pedi plus gift bag- a $90 value for $42. I'm new to the area and thought anything in birmingham would be a safe bet, boy was I wrong! Well the services rendered were not the delux version but rather the worst mani/pedi I've ever had. Delux is supposed to include this brown sugar scrub and when I asked the girl why she didn't apply it, she admitted they don't provide that for groupon patrons! In addition, they only had a handful of opi nail colors, no massage chairs and really really loud elevator jazz music blasting from a stereo the entire time. Don't let the glass of wine confuse you- its just trader joes 2 buck chuck. I've never written a review before but I saw they have a livingsocial deal out now and I don't want anyone else to make this epic mistake and waste their time or money. Oh and I almost forgot, they didn't even have that gift bag of products! Supposedly it's coming and I can go pick it up in a few weeks...right. I agree with the other reviews.  The polish selection was limited and the equipment is not up to the standard of what other salons have and charge less for.  For a place that bills itself as 'the hottest place to be glamourous and be pampered' they have a long way to go.  They do the eyebrow services in the middle of the room and didn't change the sheets on the table between customers.  I also had to remind them about the gift bag that was supposed to come with the Groupon and it seemed as if they were hoping we wouldn't remember we were supposed to get it.  Even though the staff is nice, I would never go back when there are so many other places much nicer that charge less. I recently bought a travelzoo voucher for  $29.00 mani/pedi package worth $64. Although I let it expire by mistake I called to at least see if they would honor the amount paid for the voucher $29.00. I was willing to pay the difference for any service that I might have gotten. They were unwilling to do that. I realize that it was my fault for letting it expire by 2 days but I wasn't asking for anyting free. I just wanted to use the amount I paid not the $64 package it was offered by travelzoo. I purchased a travelzoo local coupon for a mani/pedi with glass of wine for $29.  It's in an upscale area so I thought, how bad could it be?  I normally go to a salon with a professional massage chair.  My mani pedi never takes longer than an hour and usually I'm dry within 45 minutes.  They were running late. Said they were short staffed, however, it took 2 hours to complete.  It was one of the worst manicure and pedicures I've ever had.  Stephanie gives a nice massage, but didn't do arms and legs completely  plus, she placed hot towel after putting on base coat.  They use a plastic bin to soak your feet in.  My nails were filed down but not buffed well and not shaped well.  I couldn't wait to get out of there. They only have 4 chairs. It's a small salon. Not handicap accessible.  You have to climb steep stairs to get to their place on the second floor.  Also, parking is some distance unless you want to park in front with coin parking.  You get 2 hours free at a nearby parking garage, but have to walk 2 - 3 long blocks, next to the Birmingham paladium.  Limited nail polish. They didn't have my color, marshmellow by esse. I didn't leave a tip...TIP means to insure prompt service.  I didn't feel there was much service if it took 2 hours to do a mani pedi and the job wasn't done to my expectations. I bought the Groupon for the mani/pedi/gift bag of products. The staff was very nice, however there was a pretty limited nail polish selection. They don't have massage chairs or real foot tub, just a bucket, which worked fine, but  it was lukewarm halfway through. My mani and pedi were both nice and well done, but they didn't have any of the gift bags to give me. They took my email and I haven't heard anything (it's been about 3 weeks). I wouldn't pay full prices for the services, and I wouldn't buy the Groupon again either, you can get an amazing mani/pedi at Birmingham Nails for $40 and they have massage chairs and HOT water :) Read Less

Worst place ever!!! They had a very limited selection of nail colors. They only had a few outdated Natural Health magazines to read. The chairs were all with no massage. My Mom bought me a manicure and pedicure voucher through Travelzoo and I was so excited to use it. When I tried to call and make an appointment I got their voicemail so I left a message. No return phone call. So about a week later I tried to call again and received voice mail yet again. I immediately hung up and tried again....and voice mail. So I left another message stating that this is the second time that I called to make an appointment and to please call me back. Still NO RESPONSE. So I called 3 times today and got their voice mail all 3 times. I also sent in an email to see if they would answer it. Still waiting to see if they actually respond. I called travelzoo today to tell them about my experience and they are going to credit my Mom because I am done wasting my time trying to get an appointment. My sister and I bought a Travelzoo deal for this place, and we were disappointed. I think we're not going to be buying many mani-pedi deals on deal sites; all of them seem to have terrible reviews. First: They could not accommodate an appointment earlier than 2 weeks out--if you're offering a bunch of vouchers, at least have the staff to honor quick appointments!Second: The package was a "luxury" mani-pedi with a glass of wine and refreshments. Given our appointment could only be scheduled on a Saturday morning, my sister still expected to be offered the wine (who cares? It's Saturday) but were offered water, and at our awkward hesitation, offered sparkling juice.Atmosphere: I don't mind all the decor being from Ikea, but no massage chairs?? They are standard in EVERY pedicure-offering salon. Also, there was at first some nice jazz music, but then a TV was turned on and we watched Fox 2 news for about an hour.Pedicure: My heels are still rough. I've never had a 'luxury' pedicure in a disposable tub of luke-warm water that ended cold. The nail tech was very nice but not instructed properly; the nail buffer was used sideways and rubbed my cuticles (which were never pushed back) raw. The paint job is fine, but a ton of oils were used, and my feet were slipping around my flip flops even after washing.Manicure: The collapsible table FELL in front of me before it could even start. Just like the pedicure, VERY little massaging or lotion. Paint job was OK, but even today 2 days later there is chipping. The people were nice but missed major parts of a 'luxury' massage. Don't offer the coupon if you're not giving the same service. I would NEVER pay the normal $60 pricetag for it, and with this service, not even the half-off price, had I known.
