My husband and I got a couples massage, and I was 37 weeks pregnant. It was so amazing! The staff was very nice and professional, the waiting room had snacks and they served tea, and the massage itself was fantastic. It was the first time I got to lay flat on my stomach (because they set up cushions) in months. And my husband said they worked out things in his neck in ways he didn't understand. I have been to Vis-a-Vis for a lash lift and a facial (specifically, the acne consultation session), and I had excellent service both times!Abbee did my lash lift. She was super friendly, easy to get along with, and very competent and knowledgeable. I loved my lash lift!Pamela is my esthetician, and I started seeing her a couple of weeks ago for my acne. Like Abbee (and like all the other staff that I've encountered at Vis-a-Vis), Pamela was very knowledgeable and professional, and I felt completely at ease putting my skin's fate in her hands. She approaches skincare holistically, which I appreciate. I'm a firm believer that it's not only the products that you put on top of your skin that affect its health, it's all the things you put inside your body as well (nutrition, hormones, toxins, etc.). Pamela encouraged me to keep a line of communication open, and she has been very responsive to my emails and questions. I already have more facials scheduled with Pamela.Vis-a-Vis has their own naturally-based skincare and cosmetics line. I've been using their skincare as part of my acne treatment, and I've been loving them! 100% best Brazilian and not painful at all. Go to Abbee, she's also really good at getting out those gnarly ingrown hairs if you have some. They also give you a free tea drink when you get here, and you can accumulate points to claim services or products, and they enter you in a free facial raffle every month when you reschedule. I had an eyebrow wax here and it was just "OK". The sugaring stuff missed hairs and I ended up going home and plucking to correct the shape some. The salon is beautiful, though, and service is great. I would go back when I have more time - I didn't have a chance to be more critical that day. Not the salon's fault that I told them "yes, this is good" when I wasn't actually fully satisfied. I have had great experiences here so far. It's hard to find a good and reliable waxing place you trust, but this is the place to go in Ann Arbor. The estheticians take great care in their work and always do a good job. Specifically, the Brazilian was awesome. They use hard bees wax which is significantly less painful than the strips and comes off clean. Once you experience hard wax you'll never want to go back. Also, if you have a problem with ingrowns they offer an amazing sugar scrub that actually works wonders. Definitely would recommend! Read Less

Wow! I never expected such a luxurious spa experience. This must be what it's like in fancy foreign boutiques. In Turkey they usually provide tea or coffee and some snacks. However, Vis-a-Vis takes it to another level. They've got a drink menu, snacks, and the most comfortable rooms I've ever been in. The chair was heated! Pamela was very informative and clear about the process. I went in for a simple brow and lip and was treated like a regular. It was honestly painless! They lost a star because I broke out a little around my forehead after the wax. This happens sometimes and I haven't figured out why. I guess I can't really blame them. I'll definitely be back! After reading all the Yelp reviews I decided to give Vis-a-Vis a shot. I'm always super nervous about trying a new salon as I have thick unruly hair that has been butchered more than once. This is by far the best salon I have ever been to. From the moment I walked in to the moment I left it was a wonderful and relaxing experience filled with spectacular customer service. You never feel the hustle and bustle of a typical salon. I checked in and was seated in a quiet and softly lit room away from the front desk then quickly Autumn came to greet me and took me upstairs to a beautifully decorated salon area. Autumn was informative and friendly. She took the time to do a full consultation to figure out exactly where I wanted to go. She did a great job and I was sooo happy to find a place that I can make my regular salon! I can't wait to get back in and try the spa side of things. Possibly the worst 'massage' I've ever had. 90 minutes was more like 45. Had a new girl who was very nice but spent maybe 5 minutes on each area and did not dig in at all. Spent more time prepping than anything. No shoulders, no neck, no face/head??? Never walked out of a massage more tense than when I went in. Was supposed to have a facial but cancelled it because I was afraid it would be the same disappointing experience. Now I'm mad that I paid for it and didn't ask to speak to the owner right there. I had my first Brazilian wax with Kelly and it was AMAZING!! I had absolutely very minimal pain and the whole process took like 15 minutes! This is my go to salon & spa for waxing, airbrush tanning, and haircuts! The staff is incredibly friendly--Chelsea is always welcoming and helpful. I visited for the first time with my partner recently. I had set up a surprise Couple's Massage a month or so in advanced, and the process of doing so was straightforward and user-friendly. Half the cost was paid for at the time of booking, leaving just the other half to take care of once the massages were done (which takes a lot of pressure off the customer on the day-of). The rates/prices here are incredibly reasonable, they have a earn-points-redeem-rewards system, AND they have their own parking lot, any of which would (right off the bat) beat out many competing spas/salons in the downtown Ann Arbor area. Upon having my first experience here, I have to say that I continued to be impressed by Vis-à-Vis. The aesthetic and atmosphere at the spa is incredibly inviting and relaxing, and the staff is notably professional, skilled, and engaging. We were moved through to a nice seated area to fill out brief paperwork and receive new-patient welcome packets (and offered water, tea, or coffee); then we were taken to the double room for the couple's massage where we met the massage therapists and did our individualized consults. The massages were amazing. Great music, cozy massage beds, aromatherapy, and extremely talented massage therapists - an hour went by in no time! The massages were thorough, comprehensive, and both massage therapists were great at focusing in on problem areas or tension points for both my partner and I. Such a satisfying experience. We were given plenty of time and privacy for undressing and dressing, and offered (once again) choice of water, coffee, or tea to-go. We were both very happy with the experience, and we absolutely will be visiting again. And the best part is, this place is more than just massages. Their list of services is extensive and variable, offering facials, nails, hair, etc. There are a lot of great reasons Vis-à-vis could be of benefit to you, and I highly recommend checking them out.
