Really pricey for a manicure and my polish came off the day after I got it done! The lady who did my nails was super unfriendly and I could have done a better job at home myself. Nope!

I walked in which seemed fine with them, they closed after I left at 3pm when their hours stated longer....the pedicure was weird. The tech was really nice, and it lasted more than 4 weeks. Ridiculous. But only gave 4 stars because there were noticeable bubbles and the polish was not put on neatly, which I found weird, It was put on almost like a kid would, and then "cleaned up". I was not pleased with my experience. I got a pedicure, and manicure. My nail tech was complaining that I had shellac on my toe nails. My pedicure was not enjoyable, the massage was less than 30 seconds. My nails for my manicure weren't soaked, I got my cuticles cut dry with no oil. It made no sense, worst waste of money. I won't be going back! Read Less

I would not even give this place a 1-start but since there isn't any other option, they get the lowest.  Had an appointment here at 2pm and one at 230 pm for cut and color.  Came in at 150pm, signed in, and waited a whole 20 minutes for a hairdresser.  The whole 20 minutes of waiting, none of the staff came to us and apologized for the delay.  There were a couple of girls  that were just standing around and talking and neither one of them let us know if the hairdresser is tied up with someone else or not.  Completely rude and unacceptable behaviors.   Finally got tired of waiting and told one of the girl to cancel our appointment-all she could say is OK.  you will ever get my business with the attitude.  Will not recommend this place to anyone!!!! I had a pedicure today with Nicole, based on reviews I read here, and it was the best pedicure I've ever had at LUV, and possibly anywhere. I had the middle tier pedicure, the Whole Lotta LUV, and she took her time, and really was meticulous at every step. She even went back to double check that everything was perfect. She tried the polish out on one nail to see if I liked it before proceeding. The foot/leg massage was awesome, too! I highly recommend Nicole if you visit LUV in Ann Arbor. Read Less

The main reason for the two stars is the quality of the pedicure-- I've had better than this. The good points are this place is clean, you can just walk-in w/o an appointment, and the staff is friendly. But I've had pedicures done elsewhere that last 3-4 weeks-- I don't know if it's the base and top coat that they use, but LUV pedicures only last about 2 weeks or so, and then they chip off. Disappointing. Prices are about the same elsewhere in town-- I would recommend Pro Nails on Eisenhower Rd. in the Colonnade Mall. Read Less

Personally, I can't stand this place, So normally I go to Diva Nails-but.....every 2 pedis or so, I go here just so they can use their MAGICAL foot "stuff" on me.  It takes all the callouses and dry skin off, and leaves my feet super soft and smooth.  Only available with the level 2 and 3.  The 3 stars is ONLY because of that.  The girls, though always friendly, often seem fresh out of training-and unsure of themselves-and if you go back-you usually don't see them ever again.  I wish the lady at the front desk would quit-I don't know if she's the owner or manager-but she is extremely unpleasant-even when she is trying to fake being friendly.... Luv wasn't my first choice for getting a mani/pedi done, but they were open a bit later than most places, so I figured I'd give then a try. The most disappointing thing about Luv is that the advertised prices (which are high anyway) give you bare minimum service. The second most disappointing was the unprofessional staff. I'll get to all that.Upon entering Luv, my partner and I were greeted by three people just kind of hanging out at the reception area. None of them looked like they were working; one was talking colloquially about unprofessional topics, and another was complaining about how badly she wanted to go home. The interior was nicer than expected, but the greeting we received was just meh. They didn't care that we were there. We arrived an hour before close and were told that there wasn't time for manicures and pedicures; we understood and just got the pedicure.I paid the same for those two pedicures that I normally would for two mani/pedis. I could have saved a little if I'd gotten the lowest tier of service, but what's the point of paying someone to literally just paint your nails? The nails themselves look fine, so I'd say they do decent work.Maybe it's because it was close to close, but the person doing my pedicure was in a sour mood. I didn't feel rushed as I have at other places, but it wasn't a very comfortable environment. She didn't speak to me at all aside from telling me how to move my feet and then during the pedicure asking about how much I was going to tip. Once the work was done, I was asked to pay before heading over to the drying station. I didn't really mind, but I did feel a bit uncomfortable with the way she asked me about gratuity.Overall, the experience was just lack luster. The interior is beautiful and the massage chairs are pretty nice, but the service and pricing just weren't worth it. I'll be heading elsewhere in the future. Read Less

The problem with LUV is not so much that it's bad but that it's inconsistent.I went with a friend my first time, and I was under-whelmed. As others have mentioned, they lure you in with their low prices but then you find out that's just for the super-basic mani/pedi and doesn't even include a hand & arm massage. If you know that going in, that's fine, but it's disappointing, and I wish they were clearer with their advertising.I do like the massage chairs, but the way it is set up, they won't move the arm rest where the soaking dish is, so you have to cross one of your arms over your chest to reach the opposite rest, and that hardly makes for a relaxing experience. My first time, everything was OK, if not great, but they didn't even both to tell us that they had blowers that would help speed the drying of your nails. The second time, I thought my manicurist was better and she did mention the blow-dry option, but I had a heck of a time getting that appointment at all.If you're going to get anything other than the very basic mani/pedi, you might as well pony up a few extra dollars and get it done at a more luxurious beauty spa where they don't make you feel like you're just one of a crowd of people they're trying to get in and out as quickly as possible. OVERPRICED FOR POOR QUALITY!!!!I am new to Ann Arbor, from Chicago and have NEVER had an experience like this!!! After 90 minutes listening to the nail tech bad mouth "ORIENTAL DIVE SALONS" (this is what she called nail salons in the area),  She says "you can have conversations with us here, we all speak English." I have never paid over $50 for no chip nails and the quality was terrible. I would have saved myself the two hours of my day by going to Wal-Mart and buying the kit to do it myself. I got American Manicure. The white line was crooked and none of my nails matched up. She did not inform me that to take off the old shellac was an additional $12 until she already started the process of taking them off. The nail tech reassured me my nails would look great because "they use REAL PRODUCTS HERE, at the other salons they use fake products that damage your nails".In the end, I was unhappy with the quality, price and inappropriate slander.I will not go back to this salon I will stick with the other Salons in the area, they do a much better job and the conversation is much more pleasant. My sister and daughter both received gel manicures, and my sister also received a pedicure. My daughters came out nice and took 40 minutes. It took over an hour and my sister's technician would not stop talking. My sisters manicure began to bubble right after she left the shop. She showed them what was happening and they asked if they could redo them. Since we had dinner reservations (She is from out of town and we were having a graduation celebration in less than a half hour) she said "No I don't have another hour to spend getting them done ,can you refund my money?" They told her no, they do not refund money, her only option would be to come back the next day and have them redone. When we were settled at dinner we tried to call and speak to the manager. They replied there is a strict policy that they do not give refunds and they are sorry she is unhappy and hung up.Unhappy is not the best word. My sister has gel manicures done routinely at home and this is the first time ever her manicure bubbled. Not only is she out well over $100 she has to get them redone as soon as her plane touches down. Very disappointed. Read Less

When she finally arrived, I realized she had walked by me three times -- not horribly personable. Also, when you are servicing someone who had the courtesy to make an appointment, have the courtesy to find out my name and my planned services. Oh, and maybe put your hair in a ponytail so it doesn't hang onto my freshly painted nails. Ugh.This place seems like such a nice option but it's kind of horrifying when you look around. Writing from NYC but arranged to throw my sister's surprise bachelorette party here. It was very easy and pleasant to work with them over the phone. They were also very accommodating of our request to set up a table for food, gifts, and champagne (BYOB and must use plastic cups/glasses). Even after our nails were all done, we lingered a bit and they let us do that (I really appreciated that). My sister and her friends had a GREAT time. The front desk staff was very nice and friendly. It was a great place to throw a party and I think it's wonderful that they let guests do this. However, because they always allow walk-ins, you can't book the entire place.I wasn't entirely pleased with my manicure -- mostly because I asked for short and round and wound up with long and pointy. My technician's own personal style reflected this and I should have been more aggressive about getting what I wanted but I was a bit too busy making sure the party was going according to plan. On the other hand (pun intended), plenty of the ladies at the party were delighted with their work, particularly my sister, which is, after all, the most important part.In order to book a large party reservation you need to put a $100 deposit beforehand. The front desk staff forgot to apply this deposit towards my final charge. When I realized this and contacted them a week later, they were very apologetic and worked very hard to rectify the situation. They offered me a gift certificate but when they found out I was from out of state, they moved forward with a $100 refund to my credit card. While the mistake shouldn't have been made in the first place, mistakes happen and I appreciated how quick they were to fix that mess. Read Less

My best friend and her boyfriend took me here for my birthday to get a pedicure. We made appointments the same morning for 5pm on a Friday, which was good because when we got there, it was super busy. They do have a nice selection of nail polish--a ton of OPI and Essie, which I love. The ambiance wasn't all that great. The set up wasn't very relaxing, especially since it was jam packed. It was even hard to hear my two friends who were sitting right next to me. The people doing our pedicures were friendly enough. The two doing my friends' pedis were chatty and engaging. Mine on the other hand barely spoke one word the whole time. I think she murmured for me to take my foot out of the water a couple times, but that was almost inaudible. But sometimes I don't want to talk to the nail tech, so it didn't bother me that much. My pedicure looked nice when it was done. We got the medium priced one I think. I also liked the chairs that we sat in. I usually don't like electronic massage chairs, but I thought these were pretty decent. I would go back here for another pedi. Read Less

I would give them 3.5 stars but I always round down, so 3 stars it is.One great thing about this place is that it's BYOB. I love to come here late morning on a Saturday or Sunday with my girlfriends and mimosas. You'll have a great time! The place is friendly and comfortable. The massage chair is very comfortable as well. There is a wide selection of polish colors of GOOD nail polish (speaking as an OPI snob..)The staff is very nice and friendly. I don't have complaints about customer service. On the other hand, I'm not too fond of their skills.  Many times, my nails are filed unevenly (sometimes slanted). Instead of the manucurist moving from one side of the chair to another to do manicures, I am expected to cross my left arm over to the right side to soak, get it filed, and painted. Annoying!Price is very reasonable- $30 for mani and pedi. I think the price is more for the ambiance and experience- not so much for the quality. Read Less

Now, let me give Luv some credit before I go into ALL the things I don't like about it.  This place is very clean and decorated beautifully...much different than the usual (i.e. Asian) nail salons that are bare minimum.  Luv has waterfalls and "gold" lined soaking tubs.  It feels far fancier than any of the other places I have gone to get a mani/pedi.Okay, now into what I DON'T like:1.  This place is expensive.  A pedicure starts at $22 but that does not include a foot scrub, hot oil treatment or the nice massage.  For $32 you get the massage or for $42 you get the foot scrub, oil treatment and the massage.2. The nail techs are friendly, but sometimes TOO friendly.  My technician was telling me all about her problems with her children and her ex-husband and went on and on the whole time.  I noticed this was the norm throughout the salon; all the nail techs were either talking to each other or their clients in a very unprofessional manner.3. The pedicure just wasn't good.  I don't even consider my feet to be in bad shape because I take care of them often and try to get pedicures fairly regularly.  With that said, there was plenty of dry and peeling skin left on my feet and on my toes surrounding the nail.  My feet and toes did not feel AT ALL exfoliated or moisturized.  Not to mention my nails started chipping only a few days later (my pedicures NEVER chip that soon).Honestly, when comparing this place with my usual Colorful Nails just down the road, why would I ever go back to Luv when I get a better experience and a far better pedicure for HALF the price?  Bottom line is: I won't be going back.  Sorry Luv's, you're pretty and all, but that isn't good enough for me! I got a manicure and pedicure at LUV and would not go back.I went as a walk-in at  and knew I would have to wait for service, that wasn't a problem, but I was very annoyed when after waiting for 20 minutes they said "Hopefully they can get me in." I assumed I was waiting for a chair to open up but that I was really waiting on someone to cancel so getting my nails done wasn't a sure thing. While I was waiting a few of the *many* staff (there were people all over the place) came to the front counter and was loudly talking to the receptionist about her son ... It was very off-putting and extremely unprofessional.Luckily they were able to take me but not after they took a lady who walked in 15 minutes *after* me. I knew she was a walk in so I'm unsure as to why she got taken ahead of me - maybe they had 'assigned' us to technicians - but it should be first in, first to get served. My technician was nice & told me to let her know if I didn't like any aspect of my nails but of course I was too polite to do so and they didn't turn out great. Another reviewer mentioned the fact that if you get a mani-pedi done while in the massage chair you have to lean across to the left or right- depending on where your technician has chosen to sit. I was extremely uncomfortable but won't blame the tech as she said they're instructed to do them this way and she also thinks it's dumb. The reason they do this is because they've crammed the place with massage chairs so the techs don't really have room to move around. The chairs are fine, there is a good polish selection, but the quality of the nails were not up to par. The majority of places I've had my nails done (usually Asian-owned salons) HOLD your fingers while they do the polish to make sure they're precise. The tech had me lay my hand on the arm rest and awkwardly applied the polish which I'm guessing is why the coat is uneven and didn't cover the entire surface. A nail tech at Fran Coy did this as well - people HOLD the person's nail to ensure you get full coverage.I did not appreciate the staff being loud, talking to one another, making inappropriate comments to me about other customers.... It wasn't relaxing in the least. In regards to the nail-kits you can purchase they are $22 and the receptionist told me you only really need one if "You want to support breast cancer reserach" (Some proceeds go to a charity, I suppose) or "You're funny about that stuff."LUV could be a great salon if there was more quality control and the manager instilled a level of professionalism in her staff. I'll stick with my Asian-places where if they do choose to talk it's quiet and you don't know what they're saying. Ignorance is bliss! Read Less

Read Less
