Tumoda has the best spa services in Worcester county. Step through the door and your transformed into pure relaxation. The atmosphere alone is worth the trip. I did a deep massage last year and It was wonderful, I felt really good and I bought a San Valentine gift for me and my husband again this year, but was not the same experience, the receptionist when my husband went there at the appointment time he says to him : I'm sorry , your name is not here.. My husband called me and than I called to Moda and finally the receptionist find it. My husband he lost 10 min of his massage, so I paid for 60 min but he did only 50 min !!!!!!! After him I had appointment too for a deep massage and was not deep at all!!!! Was just like a relax massage but not deep! We didn't like it at all. Was not like the first experience that we had at to Moda. I paid 189 dollars but the service was not for what I paid. In the end I was doing check out and the guy that was in reception was so strange and he ask me to pay again, my answer was : I PAID! Absolutely horrible experience, two times in a row. My husband got me a gift card here for Christmas. I booked an appointment for a deep tissue massage, manicure, and hair cut. In that order. They booked my manicure FIRST, so I couldn't have my hands massaged during the massage, they booked me for an aromatherapy massage, and my hair cut was so bad I had to go to a different place the next day to have it fixed (my side bangs we very uneven and my "layers" were choppy and not blended as well.)Willing to give another chance, I asked for another gift card for my birthday. This time I booked a 90 minute deep tissue massage and clarified over he phone numerous times, deep tissue, deep tissue, deep tissue. Once again I was let down. It was 90 minutes of the therapist putting hot towels on my body, shaking my limbs, and barley applying pressure after I asked, "please use more pressure" numerous times. I even asked after the session, "was that the deep tissue massage I booked?" Thinking once again I was booked for the wrong one. To my surprise, it was the deep tissue. The therapist respond with "yes, I like to start out slow, then add more pressure, then end slow". I was so furious I even told the girl at the checkout that it was not a great experience. The therapist then came over and tried to justify herself by saying " well it takes time to know your therapist and how they work and what their style is" I replied with, "no, it's the therapist who should listen to what the client wants and adapt to them." This was not my first go around with a deep tissue. It's the therapist job to ask, how much pressure and where would you like me to focus. Just had my first experience at Tu Moda, and I will definitely be going back! I booked a pregnancy massage, and to be honest was a little nervous because sometimes you just can't get comfortable when you're pregnant. When I arrived, the atmosphere was lovely and all the staff was very friendly and welcoming. The room itself was very cozy, and they made the appropriate accommodations for a (very) pregnant woman, including a warmed bed, body pillow, and water. My masseuse Kerri was very professional asking me about the pressure and where I needed work, she made me feel very at ease. She adjusted the bed to my preference for the lying on my back portion of the massage, which helped me get comfortable despite the huge belly. I recently moved to Worcester and Tu Moda came highly recommended by friends/family. I have had my hair cut and colored there three times and will be going back to see Brittany again. I suppose you don't keep going somewhere to get your hair done unless you like the finished product. You pay for the ambiance and luxury of this salon/spa but I don't mind paying a little more to have quality. You get the little extras like lemon water and an extra long scalp massage when you go to a place like this. However, it feels like They nickel and dime you there and charge for everything they do - I've asked to leave with my hair wet to avoid the blow dry fee. I also have had a couples massage there as an anniversary present last year - I wouldn't recommend splurging on this. The massage was just okay. It felt generic and rushed even if it was relaxing. Update: I just received a phone call from Tu Moda management in response to my letter. They refunded the entire no-show fee, and apologized profusely for the charge. They also addressed all of the concerns that I included in my letter, and were incredibly sincere, polite, and honest. I'm MTF transgender, and was concerned about the quality of service that I was going to receive. They related that they had dealt with trans clients before, and welcomed their business. They indicated that they were professional, and would have no issues with anyone who showed different gender presentations. They did the right thing, and addressed the issue. ________________________________________________________________ A customer of mine bought me a day at Tu Moda to thank me for some work that I did. I was supposed to meet my customer's office manager and front desk person there at 9:00 AM on Monday. Due to predictions of icy weather - freezing rain, I had the front desk person at my customer cancel me. Since it was the weekend when the ice prediction came in, we were unable to cancel earlier than that morning. Both of them showed up because they were concerned about getting charged for the missed appointment. We figured that since both of them showed, there wouldn't be an issue, especially when the cancellation was due to weather. Fat chance. I got hit with a $267 cancellation fee - 40% of the booked set of services. No offer to reschedule. No offer to fix anything. No understanding at all. Not only are services here grossly overpriced, and a huge rip off, they also care nothing about customer service, or their customer's needs. I would NOT book any services at this place in the winter. If the weather intervenes, you're going to get screwed. Big time. I will never step foot in this place ever again. Read Less

I call to book an appt because I have to give a speech tonight. I pick a stylist and then, because "it's been so long since I have been there", I am told I have to book a consult first,  so it can't be with that stylist. This is why I haven't been there in so long. I always feel like they are the customer, not me. Instead of accommodating me, I must accommodate them. And I stopped going because the stylist was spending less than 30 minutes from wash to cut to blow dry, but now I have to go In earlier for a "consultation"? No thanks. My sister in-law and I decided to go together for the executive package with haircuts after I won a gift card at work.  The experience was absolutely delightful.  The staff was friendly and professional.  The massage from LJ was so relaxing and the manicures for us both were beautiful.  As an additional bonus, I received one of the best haircuts I've ever had in my lifetime from Minnie who has worked at Tu Moda for 8 years.  I have thick coarse red hair that most people cannot handle, but she seeming effortlessly cut, thinned out and styled it beautifully.  We were both so happy with our experiences that my sister in-law and I will definitely return again! My appointment was in the salon, and I can tell you that the staff are not experienced at all. The stylist literally "chopped" my hair. My layers, instead of flowing naturally came out butchered and uneven. I felt violated. The girl who rinsed my hair after treatment didn't rinse well enough, so I left with my scalp oily. Then the stylist had the audacity to tell me my hair was too hard to manage! My other stylist has never had a problem with my hair, but then again he's WAY more experienced than the bag of fresh meat at this butcher shop. She should have said that from the beginning to spare me such a horrendous hair cut! I will NEVER return to Tu Moda after this, and I will be telling EVERYONE I know about what a mediocre salon this is. Read Less

I was a devoted customer for 10-15 years who saw one particular stylist  regularly ( every 4 weeks) who  never made me leave anything less then perfect . My stylist moved away out of state and left SPECIFIC  instructions along with the formula to the stylists .  The stylists ( Kiki and Thuy) did not follow the formula, admitted they did not follow the formula and told me they WILL NOT follow the formula.  Due to them not following the formula my hair is completely RUINED as they had to   keep doing color correction repeatedly,  After all the color correction i still have fluorescent orange, gold, and yellow hair  and the integrity of my hair  has been greatly compromised . I have lost all the hair on the top of my head  because they refused to follow the formula .If they had  just told me  from the get go they  did not feel comfortable following the formula , I would have gone elsewhere. Instead  they ruined my hair .....They refuse to fix  the  orange gold and yellow and will not refund my money.,,, they are actually actively  looking for MORE money for all the times they have had to try and fix it !     This salon  is not good with following instructions but they sure know how to  take your money ok...............  THAT they can do with no flaws,,,,,Also  they advertise they do hair extensions but  they admittedly do not know how to   work AROUND the extensions once they are installed, so if you need a touch up or color, they cant do it without mishaps,  NOT ENOUGH TRAINING HERE . If  a salon  advertises they do a service, they need to know how to do the service in its entirety,  THEFT , ROBBERY,  INEXPERIENCE ,  NO KNOWLEDGE   is what you will find here at this salon.   My hair will grow back but  there reputation WILL NOT. I ve been going to this spa for 15 years. I always had great experience expect today when I decided to try book for one of the deals that was sent to me in the email. I got to the spa only to find out the unorganized woman shouldn't be a reception at all. She booked it the wrong date after I told her " I want to book the special deal for today from the email I had  received. This place is suppose to be the place to distress not add stress. I was really disappointed because I had arrange for someone to watch my child and take time to get some relaxation. So I decided not to waste the day and got a mini facial with Janet instead and she made it all worth while. I wish the mini facial included extraction. They have been unable to find me in the system when I have called in and have messed up times of appointments in the past. The "owner" actually told the front office not to take my appointment unless they charged the full amount on my credit card because they messed up scheduling and said I didn't show up to an appointment when I never confirmed that I could get the time off work. One of the receptionist got in trouble because she booked me with another stylist when TuModa cancelled my appointment without letting me know. This is not a place for people who have jobs, tight schedules and who need a salon that is reliable.Their "consultation" that they require for a hair service is a joke and a waste of time. I have been fortunate to have been to many nice salons around the world when traveling so I was originally excited and thought it was a treat to have a stylist go over my hair and make recommendations. This is the finest spa in the city of Worcester, perhaps in Central MA. I have been going here for several years for deep-tissue massage, haircuts and the occasional pedicure. A man's feet shouldn't be scary. Their staff is excellent, courteous and professional. The building is beautiful, clean and sophisticated and they have a great assortment of products. I have been going to Tu Moda for about 5 years, and it is by far the best salon in the greater Worcester area. I have recieved no less than exceptional treatment every time I've been. Gloria is my stylist and I love her. She always cuts my hair exactly how I want it. I have had other stylists here but she is definitely my favorite. I have also had a massage and facial downstairs in the spa and it was the best I've had, and I have tried many other places.I am constantly recommending Tu Moda to friends and family. Myself and a friend went to this place in october of 07 . When we left we were a little insulted because they messed up our bill and over charged us both by $120.00 each . when we made them aware of it they insisted we should just keep it the way it was as a tip . after telling the lady that i already tipped the woman who did our service $45.00 she insisted that the mistake was made and we could get a credit for half of the $120.00 they over charged us . I let her know i was in no way going to let them charge my credit card the $120.00 over charge and after over 20 minutes of arguing with me i finaly got my card refunded the entire $120.00 . I just tried to make an appointment for a different service with a different woman and i had to cancell the apointment . she stated to me that my credid card number they had from october of 07 would be charged $75.00 for cancelling my appointment . I stated that my credit card was stolen and it was a different credit card number all together she told me if i wanted any services from them i would have to pay in advance and also pay the $75.00 cancelation fee for cancelling my apointment . Im told 48 hours isnt enough time to cancel an apointment . please stay away from this place . they are theives and con artists, I will never go back to tu moda again... Read Less
