Went for the first time today and my hairdresser (Leah) absolutely astonished me with her skills. I told her exactly what I wanted and she exceeded that AND more. She knew what she was talking about and made me feel so comfortable knowing that it will come out great. And it did! I will absolutely be booking with her from now. 100% on point!!! I've been to the salon three times for highlights , they booked me an appointment with Paula for my first time being there , she always had to have a younger girl come over and get advice on what she needed to do for my hair. I'm not sure why they ever gave me an appointment with her to begin with because I was told , after I was unhappy with what she did , that she didn't have a lot of experience coloring and was more experienced cutting hair. Paula asked me why I didn't j...ust dye my hair blonde instead of highlights so I asked her why wasn't doing that and her answer was that she'd have to do research cause my hair was so dark to begin with. I would rather have had her tell me she wasn't comfortable doing my hair before she started it, I wanted chunky blonde highlights and specifically said I still wanted a lot of blonde in my hair but as she was washing my hair she told me not to be alarmed when I looked in the mirror cause it was going to be a lot darker than what I was used to. She said she thought it would be blonde, the whole underside of my hair was almost black. I was supposed to go back next week for another appointment but I cancelled it because I just can't take a chance on my hair with my wedding 2 months away, Cheryl is very nice but it took 2 weeks for a call back and for her to say she could tell I wasn't happy when I left that day. I'm not sure why as the owner you wouldn't have addressed me being upset that day , I wasn't greeted when I got there or when I left. I left the salon with roots and had to help Paula get foils ready for my hair , I've never ever been to a salon where I've had to help the hairdresser get foils ready , very unprofessional considering I'm spending $130 to get my hair done and a generous tip on top of that even though it looked awful. Jenny, their only manicurist, is very sweet, and has supposedly been doing nails for over 20 years. When she told me that the reason the mani/pedi Groupon was being offered was to help her establish a better base of clients, I assumed she had only been at this particular salon for maybe a year, but when I asked her, she told me she has already been there for seven years. Seven?! That made me nervous, because it's practically impossible to work at any salon for close to a decade and NOT develop a solid client base...unless you don't get repeat business and are pretty crummy at your work. Sure enough, she proceeded to rush rush rush, did a weak job removing my old polish, and then slopped on the worst mani/pedi I've ever had. Ever. She didn't even trim my cuticles; she just scrubbed at them for a second with a washcloth and cuticle remover. That was new. I was too surprised to say anything, which was my mistake. Then she painted OVER those still-there cuticles on several fingers, which of course means that now, just a few days post (shellac) manicure, the color is already chipping off in some spots and stuck to my cuticle in other spots. The color was spread thick in some areas and thin in others, but the most impressive part is that she didn't even get the sides of most nails! This  stunned me, because she inspected each one very carefully...so carefully that I didn't think she was missing anything and didn't inspect them closely until after I left, which, again, was my mistake. I was also surprised to learn that the reason she was rushing through the mani AND pedicure so quickly was all so she could be done with both within an hour. She looked at the clock constantly! Not exactly the relaxing experience I was hoping for. I cancelled my second appointment - it was included with the Groupon, but the end result isn't even worth the gas to get there. My appointment with carol the esthetician was a wonderful experience!!! She has me smooth as a baby. She creates a nurturing environment that makes you feel completely at ease. Her knowledge on waxing is impressive and she even gives good tips to help you care for the areas she waxed afterwards. She goes out of the way to make sure your comfortable and happy and makes sure she gets ALL the hairs out. I was nervous for my first waxing worrying about being naked and the pain but she made me feel like I was clothed and I don't know what her techniques are but there was very little pain. 2 thumbs way up. My experience at top shop salon with carol the esthetician was a wonderful experience all the way!!! Not only is she kind but very knowledgeable with waxing. She takes the time to get all of the hairs out and makes sure you are completely satisfied. I am smooth as a baby now thanks to her. I am not sure what techniques she uses but the pain is minimal... A lot less than I thought it would be. She also creates a nurturing environment that makes you feel totally at ease. Sandy squeezed my daughter in for a blow and go. They advertise as a blow salon but it's really a full service shop. The shampoo and blow dry was 25.00 which is a great price. Stephanie spent almost an hour on my daughter. My daughter has almost super curly hair, super long. She blew it dry then flat ironed it. I'd recommend Stephanie for a blow out for sure.
