I received a gift certificate for this place and decided to try it out. My daughter and I booked appointments  for manicures and pedicures online the day before. We were both emailed confirmations. When we got to the salon, they only had my daughter. They still took me, but I felt like the service was rushed because they had other customers. We had to wait, but not too long. The girl that did my mani pedi was pleasant, but it is the worst job I've ever had. It was rushed, sloppy, and they weren't even going to do the paraffin treatment until my daughter said something. Also, the girl did not even scrub my feet to smooth them. That's a basic part of the pedicure. She also did not get all of the old polish off of my toenails, but did manage to leave it all over my skin. When I spoke to the manager, she said she would take the old polish off of my skin, but I left saying that I would need a whole new pedicure to make me happy. I will never go there again. THIS REVIEW IS FOR LUX NAILS AND SPA IN LEGACY PLACE, DEDHAM, MA.When we first started going here, the service was great, but now they don't seem to care about inconveniencing the customer at all!  We went to Tony for our gel nails, he does EXCELLENT work.  My sister and I have been going there for over a year.  Recently, on 3 separate occasions, we made appointments at least 2 weeks in advance each time.  The first time, we received a call (the day of our appointment) to let us know that Tony was not going to be in.  The last two times, we showed up and only then were we told "he was on vacation for the weekend".  NO CALL, NO APOLOGY, they did not even TRY to accommodate us.  By the 3rd time I was done!  I walked out and will not return.  I refuse to give my money to a business that has no respect or courtesy for the customer.  No matter how good Tony is, there is always someone out there just as good or better and Lux Nails & Spa Owners should keep that in mind.  No matter how good business is, always treat your customers right! I had been a regular customer for more than 4 years, I showed up on a Monday afternoon, there are barely any customers in the place, and they told me I have to wait more than an hour to get my nails done. There are stylists just waiting there not have any customers to serve. So this was such a horrible experience, not coming back here. I've been coming for years but it seems to be more problematic over time.The most difficult issue is that the regular manicures and often the gel manicures just don't stay on as long as they do when I've been out of town and had my nails done in other places. Regular  polish often can't get me through the weekend. There are extra charges for everything and at one point, most of those charges were included in the rate, so be prepared for it to be more expensive than you think. I hope that when the rates went up, it was because the people working there received higher salaries--they work really hard and they do their job in a friendly and professional manner. The massage is more rushed and that had been one of the joys when I first started coming. This place is awesome with nails, but oh my goodness do NOT get waxed here!! YOU WILL BE BURNED (see #4). I've now gotten 2 upper lip waxes here and both experiences have left me upset:( During the first one the employee was messy with her work and missed a fair amount of hair but I thought maybe it was just someone new to waxing. However after this second wax I will never get waxed here again. The employee didn't seem to know what she was doing, and multiple weird things happened: 1. She cleaned y upper lip prior with rubbing alcohol?! This is bad for the skin and I know multiple salons that use antiseptic alternatives. 2. The wax felt very, VERY hot, but I didn't think much of it since I assumed they only allow employees trained in waxing to do it so she must know what she's doing. 3. She SPILLED wax on my lip (which is now burned there) and it took multiple attempts to pull off one strip. 4. This is the one that has really messed with me- she burned me. And I don't mean a little redness- there are multiple burns all over my upper lip and I'm actually going to the doctor now AND calling out of work. I've been coming here over the last year since I moved to the area. It was the only place in the area that did a good job for a few extra bucks. I will say it's become hit or miss though. Lately I've felt rushed even when it was slow. I stopped getting gel to take a break and I honestly don't see the point in a regular manicure as they whip right through it. My nails never last more than a day. I've had more regular manicures than I can count and by far have never felt that rushed. The corners of my nails didn't even have nail polish on them.... sloppy work. When I first started coming I was impressed by the cleanliness. Now I'm not sure it's worth coming back to. I feel like I'm getting ripped off and I don't want to leave more stressed out than when I came through the door. They are ok. I really want to like this place.....but it should be better. Pros- clean, well oiled machine, variety of services.Cons- busy, rushed, more expensive than others, regular mani is rushed, services are not consistent, crappy parking. I went to Manipedi yesterday to get a full manicure and quick pedicure. The woman who took me was okay, but I feel like she was a little frustrated with me. I have never had a pedicure and thought I would try it out, so I wasn't really sure what to do. Also as some other responses said, she seemed to rush me, and also I wish she would've explained the process a little more. For example, after my nails were done she sat me by the drying area, but did not tell me whether to wait a few minutes and then just leave or if I should wait for her to tell me.. it was very confusing. In terms of the actual nail polish, I just had regular essie on my toes and nails, so far they look pretty good. I will most likely go back, but definitely not my favorite nail salon experience. I really think they water down their polish. It always bubbled off, not chipping per se. I also noticed I am never have the same technician, even when I called in advance. I found Beauti Lux down the street. They are not as busy yet, but a superior job, nice and good pricing. Read Less

I got my nails done with my mom 2 days ago.  We got gel manicures and regular pedicures and spent $200 for the both of us.  I got a french gel manicure and two days later two of my nails are chipped.  I will not be returning. Read Less

I have mixed feelings about this place. I came here with 8 other people and manipedi hosted us after hours, which I appreciate. However, many times, we felt very rushed and it was obvious. If you're going to decide to host a group after hours, you should be providing the same quality service and not act like you just want to get the job done so we can leave faster. It appears that the senior staff here were the ones rushing us through nail polish color selection and to the empty seats. A mani is supposed to be a relatively relaxing event, but with the staff scurrying around cleaning this and that, a senior staff member peeking over other staff's shoulders to see if they were done or even close yet made me feel very uncomfortable and not welcomed. Since I was the last one still having my nails painted, I'm sure the staff member doing my nails felt a tremendous amount of pressure to work faster. And she did, that's why my second coat doesn't match my first coat and I can clearly see there are two different nail polish coat lines on most of my nails. Overall, if you don't have a private event after hours, this is your average manicure. They clean up your cuticles and your nails, give you a pump of exfoliating hand soap to wash your hands, a quick hand massage, ask you if you like the color on one of your nails before proceeding, and finish the job without much to say. I was really excited to try manipedi after hearing great things about them. I made an appointment online for a full mani. I was about 15 minutes early and was taken right away. Manipedi does also have a great selection of polishes and it's very clean.... BUT, for $18 + $5 for the type of polish I chose + tip, I'm really disappointed. The entire process felt rushed and when I left, I realized a couple of my fingernails weren't even filed to a symmetrical shape, and there are significant areas on the sides of several of my nails that got no nail polish at all. Plus, the nail drying stations are right by the door, so it gets pretty chilly. Overall, my experience was not at all in line with my expectations for a relaxing spa treatment at this price level. I like this place.  It's not my absolute fav ever, but they do a good job and are very friendly.  I've had great gel manicures and great to pretty darn good pedicures.  The only "complaint" is that I wish I didn't have to wait for a response for my reservation request when I book online. My daughter and I made an appointment for polish changes for her and for pedi/polish change for me. When we got there, there was major confusion about who is getting what and even after 3 different explanations, there was a mix-up. I was given a beginner which I didn't mind. I tipped her (before she finished) 25% to encourage her and to reward her for trying. IN the end my pedi/polish change took over 90 minutes to complete! It was not well or thoroughly done, and time was ticking away. One of the reasons to do a polish change is to save time and this took longer than full services! Very disappointed in my pedicure. I was in on Saturday, August 13, 2016 mid day and I was told after the negative experience that the woman who did my pedicure name was JoLee.1. I arranged to have friends take my children out for lunch so that I could enjoy an hour to myself. It was a birthday gift to myself (birthday was day prior).2. Started off with the woman rushing everything. Before I knew it, she was putting on my flipflops. I asked her to please use the callus remover next to my big toes. They were exactly the same as when I came in. She told me that would be extra. I asked her to please use the rough scrubbing bar (not sure of name) and please focus on the 2 areas next to big toes. She preceded to scrub so hard and fast, it was hurting awful. Clearly she was angry I asked her to do her job and it showed for the rest of my short time there.3. I had a blue on my nails upon coming in, so one would think if you going from blue to a french all the blue would be removed. WRONG! My right big toe has a small ridge in it, so color sometimes get caught in there and needs to be buffed a little more. Did not happen! I asked her to remove the blue spot and she told me IT WAS A BRUISE!!! Are you kidding me?? She then refused to do it and started painting anyway. At this point I was so frustrated, I was ready to cry. 2 minutes later she was done. 4. Had to squeeze though another chair and over the woman's purse on the floor, grab my purse and coffee, roll her seat out of the way all the while she just stood and watched without helping. 5. Sat down at the drying station and she started massaging me as hard and aggressively as possible. I am a fan of deep tissue massages and get them often but this was out of control. Thankfully it lasted only about 45 seconds and 3 chops..then said "you pay now". Out of control! I should mention also that this big rush was not because they were busy, after the abusive less than minute massage she sat at the counter and got on her phone.I paid and left a 15% tip partly because thats the type of person I am and also because she was standing over me with hand out. I typically give over 20% when I have a great experience. I get pedicures once every 2 weeks and usually go to Kim's Nails in Newton since it is near my work. I decided since I could walk to manipedi I would give it a try. Wish I didnt! Now I paid $40 for a pedi that I have to go to Kims to redo. So this will cost $80 plus tip but it will be worth it after going to Kims.Awful, awful, awful experience! I truly look forward to Luxury Nails in Linden Square, Wellesley opening. I loved my experience in the salon. It's very quiet and peaceful. You also get a light massage with your service. For the price point however I was very disappointed in my how my nails looked in less than a week. Overall, great service and awesome color selection but if you want your fell mani to last then I suggest you go elsewhere. Read Less

After hearing many positive reviews, I decided to give ManiPedi a try! Initially excited, I was extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with my finished nails. Although the lady was friendly and welcoming, she completely rushed doing my nails and did NOT focus on the smaller details at all. 1.) the sides of my nails are extremely MESSY- with some parts not even colored2.) the part near my cuticles are UNEVEN and LIGHT in color3.) even with the second coat, some of my nails are NOT rich with color I understand that I was the last customer and it was a very busy day. However, given the expensive price they charge, they shouldn't rush and value EVERY customer. I will definitely NEVER be going back again. Read Less

Today I went I with my aunt, cousin and sister and could not be happier with our experience! We called ahead and made an appointment but someone joined at the last second and they took us no problem! My cousin recently got surgery on her knee and is in a wheelchair so we were nervous about her being in there and being able to get a manicure! They are very accommodating and just wheeled her up to the bar where they paint nails. I was so pleased she was able to get her nails done with us even though she can't sit normally.I got a gel mani and it was awesome. Cici did it for me and she did such a clean and nice job. My sister and cousin got manicures and they loved them as well. My aunt got a pedicure and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Although the nails are priced on the higher side, I can see why. They do a great job and offer many upgrades and extras. The staff was very nice,professional and accommodating making it a relaxing visit. Finally, the salon itself was great and I loved the layout! Leaving this place feeling like a king!  The staff was super nice and super professional. Made even me, a manly man, comfortable in a female dominant setting. I brought my mom here today and we both got a manicure pedicure. The service was thorough, gentle and comfortable. Interior of this place was clean and serene with soothing classical music playing in the background.  With this symphony, I drifted away into paradise as my toes and hands are pampered.  Management was super nice and helped with our selection.
