This place is a little absurd. I was in a rush and called ahead to make sure there was no wait. When I arrived, the man still made me wait 20 minutes. I asked for a gel polish change at that point because I had even less time after the wait. It was the worst polish change I have received. Seemed like there was barely any polish in the bottle, and she filed my nails with absolutely no consistent shape. I filed them myself after. I went to Silk today for a second time, because I had a great experience the last time. The salon is clean and beautiful! The manicurist are very sweet and welcoming. They do a great pedicure and manicure! Every time I come in I am amazed that it is not busier! You can make an appointment but plan on waiting. Very slow and lots of technicians on their phone's during your time. Too many times the color I chose was not the color I picked. My nails turned out absolutely fantastic! I went in for a mani-pedi with my mom and sister and Silk was the only place in the area that didn't require an appointment. We were seated promptly and given some very nice pedicures. We picked out colors at the beginning and the employees either forgot or didn't ask so we had to go through and find the color again. My mom was upgraded to a more thorough pedicure without her knowing, which came as a suprise to her once she went to pay.Now onto the nails - my mom and I got gels and my sister got a gel french manifure. My nails turned out great, but the girl who did my nails was very quiet and kept looking at her phone. The tips had to be awkwardly split because my mom and sister had multiple people working on them. My nails look phenominal, but it was definitely pricier than some of the other places in twon. I don't  know why but they will keep you waiting. It looks as if they like wasting other peoples time. Extremely slow service, they kept me waiting even when i had an appointment. Very sloppy work. I don't know what products they use, i went there for pedicure and i ended up wit rashes . Some kind of disgusting scrub was used. I have gone here several times.  At first I thought WOW this is going to be my go to nail salon. Well several things have happened to change my mind.  I do acrylic nails and they were lifting at the cuticle.  The tech said I will take care of it.  Well she just put more acrylic over the lifting nails.  Needless to say the started popping again in a matter of days. On my last visit I had a pedicure.  Well the girl did a deluxe pedicure which I did not ask for and is $10 more.  Then the nail tech kept trying to sell me on gel nails.  I repeatedly said no I like the acrylic.  She actually started to put gel base coat on when she started the polish step!  Unacceptable and I am now in search of a new salon. Usually lots of nail techs on busy days (Friday's and weekends) but expect a little wait even sometimes when you have an appt. They are super great with little girls coming with their Mom's for pedicures. Jen is amazing! Gives the best leg and footrubs around. I only go to her now. Read Less

A friend and I made an appt for 5:30 and we didn't get taken till after 6:00... It was NOT worth the wait!! Mount nails look horrible the polish is freaky and my nails are already lifting from yesterday !! I expressed that I was upset while I was in there and they didn't care !! I've been going to Silk for years because they were always accommodating for walk ins but their customer service has gone way down. Lukewarm at best foot bath water, not nearly enough soaking time, and my tech chatted under her breath in her language to her coworkers the whole time. It's awkward. The services have started to just feels very rushed and inconsistent. During the part of my manicure where she was supposed to be massaging my hand she was doing it one-handed while scrolling through her cell phone that she had in her lap. Can you imagine?? I have been here a few times since moving to the area and have had manicures, pedicures and brow waxes.  I have been pleased with all the end results and the space is very nice and clean.  The one thing I have found irritating is the upselling I have gotten from a few of the technicians.  I am allergic to gel polish.  It makes the skin peel off my fingers which clearly isn't pleasant.  I have even tried it 4-5 times with various brands but it has always been the same result.  Every time I go, I have been pushed to get gel and even after I explain the allergy, they don't seem to get it and keep pushing.  On my last visit, I picked out my polish and the tech (after the whole gel sell) then kept saying to get a french manicure and that the color I picked wasn't right for me.  She also kept saying that french doesn't chip as much.  Finally I relented.  I left thinking how did you just get talked into a french manicures, you hate french manicures?  Then it chipped after only 2 days.  Just give the customer what they ask for! I have gone to this salon for 10+ years since they opened.  Love it.  I've never had a bad experience.  Any concern I've had was quickly addressed when I communicated and expressed my needs and wants.  Owner is lovely, staff has worked there for a long time, there is little turn over and I think that is reflective of their good business.  It's clean and well maintained.  I've stopped into other nail locations in town and comparatively they are disgusting.  This salon is always spotless.  They have quality business practices. Disgusted! First of all my daughter and I were taken 25 min. late for an appt. I made weeks ago. We were on our way out of time, and we really didn't need a delay. When the tech told me to be seated, I asked if she had cleaned the foot bath for my pedi. She told me it really wasn't necessary since they clean them each morning! Yuck!! I was absolutely disgusted by my pedi experience today.  First of all, I was on my way out of town and was not happy to be kept waiting 25 min. for an appt. I had made a month ago.  Someone who came in after me was seated before me.  When it was finally my turn, I noticed the tech did not clean the footbath!  I said, "Did you clean that?"  She assured me she didn't really need to since they clean them each morning!  YUCK!  My appt. was in the evening, so the tub would have been filled with bacteria.  I will never return to this salon.  The techs were also obviously talking about my daughter and me throughout the appt.  The woman also yelled out to her co workers when I left without leaving a tip.  DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. I have been coming to this place for years and the service continually gets worse. I brought my family here for some wedding mani/ pedi fun Novemeber 2012 and got the WORST gel French mani. You could still see the tips of my fingernail under the white tip because the manicurist did not make it thick enough and when I asked them to fix it she said it would look bad and didn't. Then after she was done you could see little black specs in my mani and the shellack had already chipped which it is crazy because that's the whole purpose of gel. She was super annoyed when I asked her to fix it and blamed me for banging into something. I haven't always had such rotten luck here and if you get one of the owners they usually do a great job but it's not worth the gamble any more. Let me start by saying that I've been to this salon twice. The first time I received services at this salon, a male manicurist name Vein did my pedicure. First irritation: Vein questioned my color choice. I chose a turquoise blue for my pedi and he tried to convince me to choose another color (not exactly sure why). However, after insisting that I was satisfied with my color choice, he provided the pedicure. He rushed through my pedi, providing a less than satisfactory premium pedi (for the cost). I was also skeeved out by the man's hands - they were dirty, nails and all. That's not exactly comforting to a customer who's receiving services. Upon leaving the salon while paying for my pedi, I was irritated to learn that they don't accept tips in the form of ATM/Debit cards - only cash. In other words, if you're paying for your mani/pedi with a card, you can't add the tip to it. You have to pay the tip seperately, with cash. A couple months later, I decided to give the place one more chance. I returned to the salon for a manicure this time. I was dissapointed when I discovered the manicurist providing my mani would be Vein... again. My hopes were not high but I decided to suck it up and get the mani since I was already there. First of all, his hands were filthy (again)... his fingernails looked as though he had been digging in dirt. While he was cleaning up my cuticles, he was very rough and not gentle AT ALL. Then, he CUT ME on two seperate fingers while cleaning my cuticles! At that point, I was holding back tears because he was being so harsh with the tools. I was seconds away from telling him to just stop so I could leave. When he saw that I was uncomfortable, his response was "relax!". I simply informed him that he was hurting me and he didn't even appologize. No response. At all. I was very upset and couldn't wait to get out of there. After finishing the mani, I left, never to return again.The women who work in this salon are all very nice and the salon is very well kept and clean. But, the negative experience I had with Vein has unfortunately lost them a customer. If you do choose to go to this salon, my advice would just be to avoid services from Vein. What a disappointment!  The reviews here seemed to be describing another place than where I visited.I tried this place twice (to give the first visit the benefit of the doubt).  The second visit was worse.  Both visits were for pedicures.During the first visit, the technician repeatedly stopped what she was doing to speak with the woman next to me about her son now being on television.  Exciting news?  Sure.  Do I want her to stop in the middle of my pedicure to discuss it?  NO.  Talk and work at the same time?  Fine.  But, that's not what was happening.  Aside from being thoroughly annoyed, I remember walking away a bit disappointed in the look of my nails too.Second visit: I had a scheduled appointment but a girl who was apparently a regular walked in after me and was seated before me.  I did only wait about five minutes past my appointment time to be seated, though.  They filled the tub with lukewarm water but did not put on the jets.  The technician working on the girl next to me shut my water off (my tech STILL had not arrived - I waited almost ten minutes in the tub, water getting cooler, no jets) then my tech comes, says nothing to me, puts the water back on.  The tech next to me then shuts it off... they speak their language to each other, probably arguing about my water....?  I ask finally if I can get the jets - my nail tech turns it on.  I've NEVER had to ask for that at a nail salon before!  It's part of the pedicure!!She gets to the scrubbing my feet part.  Prior to that she asked if I wanted some $10 add-on that was more exfoliating and I said no, my feet are sensitive to that I don't want it.  So then she scrubs a lot, it's pretty uncomfortable (but probably not bad to someone who doesn't have as sensitive feet) and I finally say "okay, it's a little much" she smiles at me and starts scrubbing HARDER.  WTF?  I finally pull my foot away and say "that's enough, thanks."  Geez - aren't I giving them less work to do?The actual paint job left much to be desired.  I inspected after I left and saw paint around my toes and one of my nails had a big dent in the polish.  It just looked horrible.The HUGE problem is that they have horrible service.  At $25 for a pedicure, every Vietnamese place around here charges the same - so why would I go to them?  In fact I would pay more to NOT be serviced by someone here.  I have low expectations for service at Vietnamese salons, but this was just too bad to ignore, not to mention the final product was not good. I've gotten acrylics off and on over the last 5 years.  I've never found a place that has done them exactly how i ask, and i can't say I've every walked out excited about them.  All I ask for is natural looking/on shorter side...nothing crazy but harder to acheive with a french and acrylics!I went to silk nails and spa a few weeks ago for the first time in a few years or so and have never been more happy!!  ERIN did a fab job,was very nice, kept friendly conversation, and did not pressure me to get gel,a pedi, or a whatever!  Just did exactly what I asked.I went in for a fill today and once again,great experience!!!! I went here today for the first time after reading these good Yelp reviews! I went to get my eyebrows waxed. I did not make an appointment, and I only had to wait about 10 minutes, which was a plus.The woman who did the eyebrow waxing was very friendly, professional and quick! My eyebrows look great. My only complaint is that in order to use a credit card as payment, the total cost has to be above $15. If it's not, they add a surcharge. I will make sure to bring cash next time. Went for the first time last week paid $40 for a set of acrylics and $35 for pedi. The woman who dd the pedi was rushing and didn't even remove Therese skin until my sister complained for me! my acrylics are just awful have already lost two nails completely they didn't break just fell right off and it's not like I'm doing anything physical to break them I didn't even notice them falling off. This salon is my go to salon - LOVE IT. Ask for Vien if you are getting acrylics put on. He knows what he is doing and takes pride in his work.The salon is very clean and always busy. Remember to bring cash on Sundays because they do not take credit cards just on that day. Also the best spot to go in this area for eyebrow waxing is here. By far this place does the best eye brow waxing that I have ever had. They use a blue wax that seems to be different from all the other places I've been to. It doesn't irritate and just seems to do a much cleaner job on the area. They have one woman who does the waxing and she seems very professional. She's good at what she does and does it quickly.I've also had beautiful manicures and pedicures there. I have very short nails on both my fingers and toes and was worried about how a french would look. While many other salons have kind of scoffed at me or told me straight out that my nails are too short for that, Silk made it work and they looked beautiful.The place is also very clean and open which feels nice when you are there. Definitely one of the nicest Nail salons around - very clean, efficiently run, friendly service. the only drawback is they no longer take credit cards on SUNDAYS. They do take credit cards all other days. Very inexpensive spa pedicures. Read Less
