My friend and I stopped by early on a Sunday morning. We got manicures and mini facials. We were pleased with both. My manicure lasted a week with barely any chips, a rarity for my manicures! I read bad reviews on yelp, but I wouldn't pay attention to those. I went there twice and both times the ladies have been cheerful, courteous, and careful. Even with simply gel manicure removal they did an excellent job, didn't scrape my nails like some other salons do, and even massaged my hands. I've had generally a more positive experience here than other reviewers have. Each time I've come in (about 3x) over the past year or two, the ladies have been eager to work me in, and often urge me to do a pedicure. Now, I don't always need one, but the fact that they are committed to working in as many customers as they can is nice. I will admit I don't think every customer gets as much attention as they should when the salon is fully packed, but they still get in and out for a pretty good price for this area. I took my boyfriend in for my birthday and they gave us both mani pedi's on a walk in, and made the day feel special. As for folks saying the workers are rude... I'll say this: in my experience, these ladies are nice if you're nice to them and acknowledge that they exist. If you just treat them like "the help," they're probably not going to ask your life story. But for a short mani pedi, it's probably nicer just to sit back and relax anyway. That's what I look for in a salon visit! The last time I went, I got a gel manicure. Overall it looked nice, but after 6 days the edges on some fingers started to lift. I won't say it's all the salon's fault - it could be that I cleaned my house with bleach-based cleaners. That definitely ruins my regular nails, not sure how it affects gel. But the color also looked inconsistent in some areas. I picked a very light pink color, so it could be it was super light. Or, I read somewhere that they use off-brand gel, so who knows. I do know that I'm going to another salon in Porter tomorrow (7 days after my gel manicure) to remove the "remains" and redo them. So there is that. but my pedicure looks fine, although the treatment itself was sort of bare bones, as the lady seemed distracted and the girl next to me was fairly chatty so I didn't pay as much attention as I could have. All in all, I'd recommend it as a basic, good priced mani/pedi close to the T, but don't go here for anything overly special, like your wedding spa treatments. Read Less

Went for the first time on a Sunday and it felt very rushed and not relaxing at all. I sat waiting in the pedicure chair for over 30 minutes with my feet in the water while the lady who was supposed to work on my pedicure, kept taking in new costumers for waxing. My pedicure was interrupted 2 times once it started (both times to treat other costumers that walked in after me for waxing and I had to wait 5-10 minutes for my pedicure to resume). The actual pedicure was rushed and a bit painful. I had to request for another coat once she finished because I could see through the color. My manicure was fine but also very rushed.  They were welcoming and everything seemed very clean but they are too concerned with getting more costumers rather than taking care of their current costumers who have been waiting. I get mani/pedis here fairly often, and I'm generally happy with the results. The treatments are always relaxing and the results looks great. Some techs take more time than others, and I've found that the length of my manis depends on the tech I get. I don't mind though, as I'm more interested in my cuticles looking good for a while, which they always do. And after a really bad mani elsewhere, I appreciate this place so much more. Read Less

It's fine. They are super quick, which is what you want sometimes, so I come here when I'm in a rush. It does get very busy, especially after work and on weekends. They might ask you to come back in an hour. I've had very nice staff here, and very indifferent staff here, but I don't think I've ever had anyone rude. It is not relaxing by any stretch of the imagination. It's fast and energetic. Being almost across the street from the T makes it even faster. Read Less

The first time I went to Davis Square Nails, I had acrylics on and simply asked to have them taken off, and to have a shellac manicure. The lady asked me THREE times if I wanted a fill, and all three times I repeated myself saying "No, I want these taken off please, and then a shellac manicure." She looked at me like I had three heads. Really? Then, she took my nails off and ANOTHER lady came over and started my manicure. She absolutely BUTCHERED my cuticles. I was bleeding and she was carrying on like nothing happened. Once that was resolved, she started with the gel and polish and very rudely kept getting up to tend to people who were walking in the salon, and even started another manicure while I was in the process of mine. SO rude! Not only that, but my manicure is not at all what I expected. There are bubbles and when I pointed them out to her, she said "No, honey that's just your nail." No, its not. I actually signed up for Yelp specifically to leave a bad review for this nail salon.Living in Davis I've tried really hard to give this place the benefit of the doubt because there aren't a lot of options for nail salons around where I live. Unfortunately this place is just terrible. When I was there the woman doing my nails was seeing 3 clients at once -- which is great for business -- but she also barely paid any attention to the 3 people she was servicing. I had to ask her to add another coat because I thought that would make my nails look better (it didn't) and then I spent the next 5 days that my gel manicure lasted picking nail polish off the skin around and out from under my nails.It's just really bad quality for an unreasonable price. I get my nails done here every two weeks. They do a great job and have a great selection of colors. If you want something specific just ask them. I went for waxing for the first time and was pretty impressed. I did brazilian and lower leg and it took about 35 minutes. They did leave a few hairs, but nothing super noticeable and also gave me a 10 dollar discount for being a regular. Read Less

This place has good service along with a positive attitude from the people who works there. I went here with my friend for the first to get my first pedicure and see what it would be like, and it served as a good experience for me as they knew what they were doing and very courteous. The inside of the place was very pretty, creative, and bright. Also, when I got there, they seem really busy and for each customer I saw, they looked satisfied for their result in nail care and other services. Got a manicure and pedi there before...  Not shabby, but definitely lacking on the massage portion. Would have painted them myself for the price.  I was really excited for my first gel there my first gel the other day.  Horrible prep! a) Did not clean the residual nail polish framing my cuticlesb)  Filed my nails with a super coarse file meant for artificial nails, so the edges were super jagged. c) The gel itself was waaaay too low on my nail (1.5mm below my cuticle, which was never pushed back).  d) Overall, gels are sloppy, rippily and translucent/uneven in some spots.  Walked out with $63 out of pocket (gel, pedi and tip) feeling totally ripped off.  Super nice folks, but unfortunately will not get a gel here again. Just moved into the neighborhood and have been looking for a new nail salon. Davis Sq. Nails did not disappoint! It's not fancy by any means, but they are always busy (a good sign in my book) unlike Julie's Nails which seems to always be vacant. They were courteous and did a great job. Probably the shortest French gel manicure I have ever gotten, but they are detailed in their work and it came out fabulous. I will be back. Read Less

I went for a pedicure with two of my friends, who got french tips. The pedicure was mediocre. It looked fine at the end, but the woman seemed extremely untrained. They filed one of my friends' tips down too far, so they did not look like tips at all. They used the wrong color, after my friend repeatedly tried to correct her. For the other friend, the paint job was absolutely terrible.Both friends went home to redo their nails themselves. Horrible experience. Read Less
