Terrible!! They're all smiley and fake and friendly when you come in until you hand them the money. I was asking questions about differences with American polish and French polish but the guy wasn't really clear on answering the questions and was rude and abrupt in the first instance while he was dealing with another client. They always want you to go for gels as it's £20 but out of my budget range as I wanted a manicure too £10. First off he pressured me into picking a nail ...colour and was saying about serving the next girl instead because it was taking too long when I'd been waiting a while as it was. So of course I rushed in picking a colour to please him. The range was crap anyway. He could have pointed out the range of polishes in which to pick from while i was waiting. I was trying to catch his eye when he was dealing with someone else so tell him what I wanted so I could pick a colour anyway. Was a crap manicure the shaping was uneven with rough bits of nail still left on which weren't smoothed. The hand massage was pretty much none existent. I massage my own hands more putting on hand cream. He didn't care about customer service in the slightest. I ended up changing my nail colour I had originally picked as I was looking at the polishes while he was doing the manicure. The polish is just a Normal polish. He put on 2 layers of polish without letting the polish dry inbetween application and a clear top coat. I could see the colour coming off the brush onto the clear polish. So it definitely wasnt nearly dry. The job wasn't brilliant with areas of my nail unpainted round the edges. I sat under a hand heater for 10 minutes to let them dry. He did say to be careful as the paint comes off easily compared to gel. Thats fair enough but even 5 hours later I could push my nail onto the polish and it made an impression in the polish. I went back the following day and told him I wasn't happy. And he said that he told me to be careful with what I was doing and that's why my nails are the way they are. I said that even if I did my nails at home the polish isn't like that, only if they layers don't get time to dry. Said he should have done it properly and let the nails dry before applying another coat. He said it's because he was busy. But it wasn't there was two other ppl waiting and 3 nail technicians. I said I wanted them 're painting and doing properly. He said he would. So sat down to get them done. And he said it'd be £5 charge. So just said that I'd go to another nail bar then. The lady another technician that was in there didn't even look up from her phone to see what was happening. Just shows how common this must be. All they care about is stealing your money. After going here for ages and then recently changing and then going back.. I will never return The staff are miserable and ignorant. I showed them a picture of what I wanted (white faded tips) which are what always have done there they said my student card wasn't valid for the nails.. bizarre and never been told that before. I paid full price, even though i didn't usually to avoid being difficult. When I then asked her to do the glitter tip she said it was an extra 3 pound (...They never charged me this!!) I explained this and she said she didn't care so I said just don't do it.. After speaking to a man she then snatched my hand from under the dryer and started putting the glitter on. When She wanted me to swap hands she was rude and grabbed them and didn't even speak 1 word to me or ask me if they're okay.. After leaving I noticed that not one of the nails are matching or consistent shape and have chip marks in them around my cuticles. Very disappointed See more Read Less

I can not recommend this place enough for a bridal party! They were so easy to work with and so accommodating (even when adding in some last minute people). I was pretty stressed about getting 6 bridesmaids, two moms, two grandmothers, and one bride's hair and makeup done. They got this all done in exactly the amount of time they said they would. It made my day so much less stressful. And we were able to enjoy some drinks that we brought while being pampered!Everyone's hair and makeup truly came out amazing. I'm so happy I went to this salon instead of having someone come to a hotel room. Not only was it faster, but it was a LOT less cramped and a lot more fun. Highly recommend!! Read Less

Really disappointed, the staff member was miserable and ignored me when I spoke to her. Quality of the polish is really poor & was running out so I have streaky nails with very little coverage. All made worse by the fact she left large gaps by my cuticles. Annoyed that I spent £21 here rather than going to my regular nail bar 😡 Read Less

We are from out of town and were in Plymouth visiting family and had a wedding to go to - so I had to get a (men's) haircut on short notice.  I had a great experience at this salon - extremely clean, great service, and had a fantastic haircut at at very reasonable price.  Don't waste your money at local barbershops - go here and get the best service and treatment of a high end salon at very fair prices.  Highly recommended. I have been having my nails done at 5 Star Nails since it first opened in Beeston Square which must be about 16 years ago. Thier service is second to none. All of the staff are so efficient and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for them. The techniques that they use and designs that they can do from plain to French or intricate are fabulous. Great salon! I booked hair and makeup services here for my bridal party and everyone came away looking fabulous. I didn't know what to expect, having never been there before, but when I went for my makeup trial I was convinced. Everyone was super nice and friendly and the salon was in great condition, very clean and comfortable.Melissa did my makeup and did a fabulous job. I've never looked as good. I cannot remember the names of the others, but my bridal party looked great. Most had up-dos that were all different and all great (stayed up all night). One bridesmaid had her hair down, but it was curled and looked beautiful.  I think we even finished up ahead of schedule. I love it here. The place is super clean, all the staff are really friendly. They're open Saturday, which means a lot for those of us who commute to Boston for work. Every time I get my hair colored & cut...I get loads of compliments from my friends. Alex S. was able to pull together staff willing to work the Sunday of Columbus Day weekend to do hair & makeup for my girls & I for my wedding. That kind of customer service goes a LONG way these days when everyone is pinching pennies.I just tried them for a facial too....WOW!! Sooooo much more than a facial. Laurie M.  is amazing. I am already recommending a facial with her to EVERYONE I know in Plymouth. I was so pleasantly surprised when the facial included wrapping my feet in warm towels & a scrub on my upper back. I will be back for another facial & I am planning to bring friends!Prices tend to be similar to the other salons/spas in the Plymouth area...but much cleaner then other salons/spas. Read Less
