Poor nail quality Had to go twice to get it sorted and in the end I decided to do it myself and it was 1000 times better Staff are rude and arrogant When we tried telling them they did a bad job they were so stuck up and tried blaming us for their mistakes. Walked in after work on Friday, was having my nails done within 5 minutes of walking in! I had shellac on very short and broken nails, the gentleman did a fantastic job making my nasty nails look pretty! Definitely will be going back for my next set! Read Less

Been going here for years. Love it. Occasionally tried the odd other place for convenience and I always end up coming back here. Really strong nails, and reasonably priced. I have acrylic overlays on my own nails, Only ever had the odd one break and that's normally when I've gone 4-5 weeks without Infills but even after that long, they are normally still chip free! Perfect upscale friendly accommodating reasonable and just trendy enough.Did I say, comfortable? I think the prices are in line with the rest. Housebound for weeks because of the snow my hair had begun to resemble a squirrel's nest on good day and on a bad, I seemed to be sporting a frizzy mullet. When I could stand it no more I decided to try a salon closer to home. I called and the cheerful Melanie said I could get in that very afternoon. Thrilled I went for my slushy run then jumped in the car to make my way to 'the salon 16 west.' Dayna Connolly took me into her capable hands and did exactly what I asked: cut off the mullet -like strands, evened things out, cut into the curl and left it wet so I could go home and fuss with it myself. So I left with my hair wet and covered in a huge furry hood. Well it looks great, if I do say so myself. The back is all shaped, the sides wave smoothly framing my face. Awful salon. Will never go back. The woman who did my hair got bleach on my shirt and charged me for services I did not ask for. She did not do my hair to my liking or close to what I asked for - it is now extremely damaged and I have to cut it. Cost me $75 and I had a 20% coupon. When I explained to the receptionist that I did not ask for the services that were performed she said, "Oh well". This was my first and last time going to Salon 16 West. I have never really gotten my hair done at salons- usually I'll pop into the places that cost 11.95$ and youre in & out pretty quick, but decided to finally give a nice salon a try. Paid nearly $40 + tip for a wash cut & blow dry. The cut was nice, although it only involved cleaning up the layers I already had, but the stylist insisted my bangs were too short to cut which was most of the reason I came in to begin with. Now- at first I thought maybe I heard her wrong, since at that point they were literally down to the tip of my nose, but nope, she would not cut them. The salon is beautiful inside but I don't think I'll be returning since I had to go back to my cheapo place 2 days later, where they happily cut my bangs for $5. VERY hard upsell on other services/appointments as well. Not sure if its just because I don't look like the typical wealthy Orleans client, or if the stylist was having a bad day, but I don't have any interest in giving this place another shot. Read Less

I would recommend Salon 16 West for up-dos and wedding hair.  Amanda was wonderful and she did a FANTASTIC job with my hair.  My bridesmaids and mother, mother-in-law were very pleased with their hair as well.   Seemed pricey compared to other times I've had up-dos, but def. did a good job.  I had also gone to the salon for a pre-wedding makeup trial and I was very disappointed.  I looked horrendous.   Face makeup was caked on.  The eye liner was all over the place.  She didn't listen to any feedback I gave her.  So needless to say I got my makeup done somewhere else on the big day.  Bottom line:  Check them out for hair- but not for makeup. I went there with my bridesmaids, mother and mother-in-law on my wedding day and we had a great experience with all of the stylists and the make up artist.  They were INCREDIBLE!!  My hair and make up were perfect.  Tanya did the best job- better than I could have imagined.However, I was extremely disappointed with the way we were treated by the management.  We were 15 minutes late because of traffic and it was made to seem like the end of the world.  (I find it hard to believe that we were the first bridal party to ever be late.)  I was also told that I had to choose between getting my nails done and getting my make up done because there were more appointments for the day, even though we had already paid for 3 make up sessions and only had 2 people get their make up done.  (And it took all of 10 minutes to get my nails done.)  I could hear them getting upset about the fact that I was getting my make up done, only to come around the corner and tell me how great I looked.  I realize we were a bit disorganized, but we also paid them a lot of money. It just seemed very fake and I didn't appreciate hearing them be upset on my wedding day, which is too bad because the staff was great and we were really happy with the results.  I would give five stars for the stylist and make up artist. Went here for the first time last week after having driven by the salon for several years, and I was pleasantly surprised!  The receptionist was really nice, Sonya did exactly what I asked of her and my hair came out great, and the atmosphere was totally relaxed and friendly.  I believe it was $37 for a cut and blow dry, which I suppose isn't bad (although I'm used to paying $21 at school, I guess I'm spoiled there), but I will definitely be returning here in the future!
