DO NOT GO HERE, AWFUL. I don't ever write reviews, unless it was completely outstanding or so horrible that I have to warn people. I purchased a Groupon for partial highlights, haircut and blow dry. It was really cheap and I found out the hard way that it wasn't worth spending less, never skimp on hair coloring or any hair services for that matter. I didn't want to spend too much money on my hair because I thought it was a rather simple service, highlights and haircut.. how hard could that be. And based on the pics on their Facebook page, it looked great! Walking Jay greeted me, he was super nice, personable and easy to talk to. Right off the bat, I showed him a few pictures of Kim Kardashian's subtle caramel color highlights.. Eva Longoria. Showed him a couple more, stating what kind of highlights I was looking for. Thin strands, not thick chunky strands of highlights so he knows. I have naturally dark brown hair, and I was looking for something subtle yet noticeable and I stressed that many many times with him. Very subtle blended dark warm caramel, nothing that stands out too much but I wanted more dimension and something that works very well with my base hair color. Ironically we also shared horror hair stories, he talked about toners.. awful highlights etc. He did the foiling and everything. Everything looked about right, I've had 7 highlights in my lifetime. He did the foils fine, and then he started using a blowdryer to heat up my hair. Usually with highlights, most salons would sit you under a hood standing hairdryer but nope all I got was 5 minutes of constant heat from a blowdryer.. Sat in my chair for about 20 mins more or less. Now he directed me to the hair washing station. I expected him to take off the foils but instead he was unraveling one foil at a time, rubing the strands of hair that was bleached together with his fingers then wrapping it back again. From that moment, I was getting suspicious like something was wrong. I even texted my bf in that moment bc I felt nervous, I could tell he was hesitant/fustrated. He then went into the backroom, mixed a concoction which I assumed was toner (which I'll get to later). It reeked of chemicals, rubbed that into my hair real real real good, roughly. Rubbing my hair together like he was washing a dirty t shirt under the sink of something, trying to get rid of a stain. He did that for about 5 minutes, at this point I was really confused because when you bleach your hair it opens up your hair cuticles, making it extremely weak so any rough touches could break your hair or damage it. He did that then rinsed my hair. As he was washing my hair with no care, water was dripping down my face, he was so rough with my hair that drops of shampoo went into my eye. Back to the chair now, I didn't see the color cause my hair was still wet and I was facing the wall as he cut my hair. Now as he began to cut my hair, he didn't even bother to ask what look I was for. Prior to all of this, I did mention an inch off nothing major as I hate haircuts and he understood that. But I stopped him and showed him a couple pictures. The haircut turned out, eh. Choppy ends but as long as its symmetrical I could deal with cause at this point, my hair color meant more. He started blowdrying and the entire time I was either looking down or facing a wall so I never caught a glimpse of my hair. After blow drying he took out a mirror to show me and my stomach dropped. I wanted to cry!! It was brassy, it looked like it was a layer of light gold blonde with dark brown underneath. I couldn't even tell it was highlights, literally the entire outer layer was just ugly blonde. I asked for warm caramel, I even showed him pictures!!! I am not a confrontational person at all, so I pretended like I loved it when I actually hated it. I wanted to cry. It did not look good. I paid and rushed out, and the first thing I did was call another hair salon in West Newton. Best salon I've ever been to but they are always booked so I haven't been in a while. I called and they were nice enough to take me in last minute, its a pretty reputable salon and they have outstanding reviews on Yelp, which is how I found that 2 years ago. They immediately noticed how bad the "highlights" were. They couldn't even tell he used foil or that it was highlights. They spent a good 5 minutes trying to figure out what he did.. what techniques (or lack of) he used cause it was awful. They noticed a few strands in the back of my head had broken off, they are now about an inch long which I now know was from him rubbing my bleached hair harshly together. They also noticed how the roots were a lot lighter than the bottom ends of my hair, it didn't match at all. Not going to go into detail about what happened at the other salon but they said, he didn't use a toner and if he actually did, it wasn't dark enough to achieve what I was asking for. Now go here at your own risk. Nice people but I don't know if anyone should Read Less
