I usually go to MiniLuxe Newton Center where I always have been pleased. I will occasionally come to Chestnut Hill and while I love not having to worry about feeding a meter and the front desk staff is very friendly, I have gotten terrible mani/pedis on several different occasions. Today I got an awesome mani but an AWFUL pedicure. (Two different technicians). I have polish all around my toes, my toenail polish is not totally filled in and crooked. I didn't notice until I left the salon and saw them in daylight. I also still have dry spots on my feet and he left the acetone foils to take off my gel nailpolish on for my entire pedicure so my nails were stinging, pruney and I couldn't read or anything during my pedi. I think I'll stay loyal to Newton Center. Read Less

I am in love with my gel manicure from MiniLuxe! My cuticles were meticulously trimmed and the polish was carefully applied. They are looking beautiful after one week. I also get my brows tinted. The formula for the tint is vegetable based which prevents any irritability. I have dark brows to begin with so I use the tint to fill in any sparse areas (I get my eyebrows threaded at another location). I recently visited this salon for the first time to get a mani & pedi. The salon itself is nicely decorated and clean. The selection of colors is great. However, it was the worst manicure I've ever received. I paid an extra $10 for the performance nail polish. The nail polish dried with tiny bumps. It's been less then 48 hours and two nails are already chipped. This salon is very expensive (close to $60 for mani/pedi) but you don't get what you pay for. Read Less

I don't usually go to get my nails done from spas, but after hearing through a friend about the cleanliness of this location I had to check it out for myself.I was greeted at the door by one who I can only guess was the manager based on her level of service. She showed me around and explained their different lines of nail polish and even offered me tea or water while I waited for my technician.My technicians name was Katie, and she was very professional and warm. She was concerned with my comfort level and was very gentle when doing my pedicure.What I was most impressed with was that all the tools were prepackaged- which was my biggest worry when getting my nails done anywhere. After my tech was done using the tools I saw her dispose of them and clean my chair/sink I was using. The atmosphere of this place is friendly and inviting with great music! this place was pretty good. the hostess was kind of rude and i almost walked out bc i felt so unwelcome. she also didn't really know what services were offered. i was trying to determine between two different add-ons and she didn't know and seemed upset that i was asking. it's okay though! bc the actual nail service was great. i had Katie and she really took her time, was great at her job and knew the intricacies of their different nail polishes and services. the chairs are not massage chairs and it seems like Mini Luxe optimized for a certain look over comfort which is great for some but not my cup of tea. i'd rather have the comfy massage chair! the music was a little clubby- again- not really my thing. i probably won't be back, but it's just my preference. the place was really clean, good technician and good color varieties.i should add that the parking was awesome! nice big garage and would be perfect for grabbing lunch before or after. there are some great walking distance restaurants around. A premium salon should provide top-rate customer service! Not today; not from Kylie at the Chestnut Hill location. I had an appointment for a spa service in the Newton Centre location. They called to change the location to the Chestnut Hill location just before the appointment, farther away from where I was coming from. Traffic was awful and I called to tell them that I was going to be late. Upon arrival, Kylie at the desk was cool, unhelpful and not customer-service oriented at all. I left without the service I had scheduled, and no plans to return this location. If you're looking for an outstanding brow waxing/shaping experience, go see Kit. My brows are pretty wimpy, so even pulling one too many hairs could really botch the job. Believe me, I've learned this the hard way. But Kit skillfully shapes my brows with a careful and patient approach. Every time I look in the mirror following a visit to Kit, I'm delighted by her precision and (I think this might be an appropriate description) her artistry. Because my brows are so wimpy, most waxing technicians tend to just clean up the little strays and leave the brow shape as it is. Kit actually creates a lovely shape, a gentle arc. I have also seen Kit for bikini line waxing. She gets it. Nobody particularly enjoys having a bikini wax. She's chill in her approach and demeanor, putting the client at ease. And while she's thorough and meticulous with bikini waxing, she's also quick. She gets the job done. Kit is friendly and we are always pretty chatty when I see her, but I can tell that she was taking her cue from me when I first saw her. In other words, I think if you're chatty, she's happy to chat away with you. If you like to kind of zone out during a service, she'd let you have your peace and quiet. Client satisfaction and quality of experience seem to be a top priority for Kit. As an aside, I got a pedicure with Kareena today and she was awesome! Read Less

Beautiful salon, friendly staff, and great service. This was my first time at a MiniLuxe. Receptionist Julia was super friendly and took time to explain the different color options. My esthetician Lisa was amazing with my cuticles - most manicurists give me a hard time about them but she was patient and said she actually really enjoys trimming them. The manager, Emily, checked me out afterward and took extra time to make sure my mani/pedi meet expectations. Overall, a relaxing and satisfying experience. I will be back! Read Less

Kit, Kit, Kit! This lady is in a league of her own when it comes to brows. When I tell you nobody else is touching my brows, you best believe that's absolute truth. I don't even touch them and I'm an esthetician! Fast and accurate. With two kids under the age of five and a wonderful husband at home, I don't have a lot of time to spare. I was on my way out within seven minutes.Please note nail polishes were not for sale. First time I have ever been to a MiniLuxe and certainly my salon that I have been going to is where I will be returning. Cost does not match product/results. Very polite and friendly staff however very sloppy work. Edges are unevenly painted and top coat is visibly half way on several nails. I have been coming to Miniluxe faithfully since 2009 and this location exceeded my expectations! True to the Miniluxe, it has a fresh, crisp, and clean vibe. Miniluxe prides themselves on cleanliness, which is why I seriously won't go anywhere else. This Miniluxe truly had a luxe vibe. It is super chic, even featuring tvs with runway models! I am not an all-out fashionista, but I do think the aesthetic here would appeal to its clients.I have had a gel manicure here and returned for a Lalicious pedicure. My technician Kay was so great for the mani that I requested her for the pedi on my return trip. She was very good about asking if the pressure was okay when filing and trimming the cuticles, as well as water temper at all stages of the pedi, and pressure when buffing in scrub and massaging. I've been to Miniluxe on Newbury before but was very impressed at the Chestnut Hill location.   I came in Sunday April 10th with two friends for manicures.  The receptionist (I think Kate or Katie) was nice.  I chose to get a french manicure.  The technician, Chau was absolutely amazing.  She has great attention to detail, this was probably one of the best manicures of my life.  What is more impressive is that today, almost a week later my manicure still looks amazing (my friend just asked if I got my nails done today).  I would definitely recommend, thank you Miniluxe. Came on a Monday for Yelp Get's Schooled and my Mani is still here on Friday! Not gel, but a mix of gel and another polish even. Staff are super nice and friendly and the whole place is immaculately clean. They are very open and proud of their cleaning process and can tell you all about it if you like. They don't even charge more because of it!Great space to have a pre-wedding party because they have a ton of space and a nice lounge area (holds 4 seated but really confortable couch and chair).
