I came in to get a bday manicure with a friend as I had recommended this place from the other times I've been here and had nice service. Today was the opposite. We came in and they asked what we wanted, we said 2 manicures, one regular and one gel. They went to seat us apart and didn't consider we had come together. Why would I want to sit away from the person I came in with and the shop had just opened so it wasn't like there were limited seats available. After that, we sat together and we're chatting, before I knew it she had started the manicure. Not once did she ask what shape I wanted or anything. In not doing so, she simply just rushed through the manicure. She did not smooth down my nails at the top and some of them were peeling, therfore the nail polish came up and is doing so as I write this. I asked for one to be redone and she sent someone over. She then dabbed nail polish over the dried polish and it got sticky and bubbled. I asked her to just redo it, and she got really annoyed and started yelling to another woman. They reluctantly redid the nail but you could tell they were not pleased. I get being somewhat annoyed with redoing something. But the lack of welcoming attitudes and performing the manicure without speaking to your clients seems like a bad idea. Idk if I'll be back, there is probably a place I could go that would treat me with a little more grace as they should want to keep local clients. Read Less

I've had good manicures and pedicures here and I have found the staff to be very helpful and pleasant. However, one time they filed my nails wayyyy too much during an acrylic fill, like almost complete through the base of my nails. My last visit left me with an awful nail infection that caused my thumb to swell almost twice the size and left me with a medical bill and a week of antibiotics. Read Less

I was extremely dissatisfied with Kim Nails and would not recommend its services to anyone. I went for a manicure with my 96-year-old grandma who has trouble seeing. The manicures themselves were rushed (5 minutes for each), the women doing the manicures were extremely rough to the point were 2 of my nail-beds started to bleed (and when I asked her to please be more gentle she snapped that I was bleeding because I had moved my hand into her tool), and the paint jobs were sloppy. When my grandmothers manicure was done, her manicurist was so rough with getting her into the chair to dry her nails -- she pushed her down even though my grandma is clearly unstable and requires time and help to sit down in a chair so low to the ground as theirs was. I was shocked. When my grandmother offered a $3 tip each for our $12 manicures (a tip that was already more than 20%), the manicurist tried to trick my grandmother into giving a $6 tip for each manicure. Luckily, my grandma had the wits to not be tricked into doing this. However, later, when my grandmother was paying, the manicurist short changed her $10 and told my grandmother that she had already given her the right change and that my grandmother must have forgotten. My grandmother is an easy target and is vulnerable to being scammed and Kim Nails took advantage of her. To top everything off, my grandfather (also 96) came into the salon having fallen on the street and was bleeding profusely from his face and hands. No one from Kim Nails offered any assistance or even tissues -- I had to ask for some paper towels and they only offered me one. I had to keep asking and each time I did, they gave me 1 additional paper towel -- and told me to use it to clean up the blood drops on the floor. I was clearly stressed about this situation and not equipped to deal with it, yet no one from Kim Nails got up or expressed any concern. In fact, they were really nasty about us being in the store, and essentially asked us to leave while my grandfather was still bleeding.My grandmother has been getting her nails done here for years yet after this experience, will never go back. We were both shocked with the terrible service, treatment, and utter lack of customer care. DO NOT go to Kim Nails -- they are rude, will try to scam you for money, and, frankly, are terrible at painting nails. Read Less

I come here at least once a month usually more and I've always had a great experience. I've found it clean and I'm definitely picky about where I go to get my nails done in terms of cleanliness. They do a great job for mani and pedi and it's well priced! Read Less

Their tools are not sterile in the autoclave instead just the uv lights sterilizer small machine. I got a bad infection. They reuse files and buffer and that could spread diseases. They use waxes for both bikini and face wax from the same wax warmer. Disgusting and unsanitary! Chairs are old, bathroom has a strong odor, waxing room are filthy, the worst customer service. It is beyond me why this place is rated highly by some people.  The place is downtrodden and filthy.  They rush you like heck, doing a manicure and pedicure at the same time.  You have to be a contortionist to bend in all directions.  There is no joy in the massage.  They throw on some cream and slapdash their way through a quickie.  No atmosphere...no pleasure...no cleanliness....and they have cut me twice, badly.  I'm just happy not to have gotten a staph infection.  The staff talks to each other constantly.  It's like you are not there.  The price is average, the mani/pedi is average at best and the experience is so below average it should be in a third-world country. I like Kim's Nails because they're always consistent. It's $35 for a mani-pedi, which is one of the better priced options in the area. I've only had to wait once in two years to sit down. The only possible negative is the staff consistently tries to upsell you on a more expensive service, but if you get to know any of the women, they're very nice and good at what they do! Read Less

Kim's is great! $35 for a regular mani-pedi. The salon is spacious and clean, and the staff is nice and very competent. I've never had to wait more than 3-5 minutes as a walk-in, time easily spent browsing the extensive selection of OPI and Essie colors. My sister also gets French manicures here, and they look great as well. I would definitely recommend this place! Read Less

I went here for the first time because I received a gift card as a birthday present. I heard good things and was looking forward to my second manicure/pedicure ever for a big event tomorrow. Though they did a fine job at shaping my nails, the rest was a disaster. The people there do not pay much attention to you ESPECIALLY if it's semi-busy, and spend time attending to other customers. I felt rushed and by the end of it, my nails were ruined. The nail polish did not stay on and there are fingerprint marks all over them. I don't think I will be returning.Read Less

This is my go to spot for nails and waxing. Christina is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure that I get a long lasting Mani/pedi.  She also does a great job on eye brow waxing. fyi - not on lincoln road!  it's on lincoln street, newton highlands.  went here because i can't grow my nails on my big fred flinstone toes. got a great pedi there with an acrylic toenail and a mani and it was only $40+tip.  left with pretty-girl feet!!! very clean place with clean, nice working pedi/massage chairs. I have always had a  good experience here.  They show good attention to detail and provide a nice finished product.  My only complaint is the manicure polish does not last at all, maybe 4 days.  I do not often get manicures so I do not know if this is industry standard or not.  The pedicures, which are my preferred service, last 2 weeks or more. I came on the recommendation of a friend, and while Kim's has some great positives, I didn't get the best polish job ever. We came together and both felt not enough time was spent cleaning up our feet, and had imperfections in our polish when we left.The colors are super organized, and the staff seemed eager to offer suggestions. I felt rushed into picking my colors (I'm a bit neurotic about this), but that's not really their fault.The space is super clean, big, and nice. The girls were friendly. They do waxing, too. But I left with uneven color on my toes (I chose a dark color, but still) and some noticeable bubbles in the paint on my hands. My friend's mani chipped within 3 days. I don't think I'll be back. Pedicures are my life. Kim's in Newton is not only inexpensive, but the girls KNOW what they are doing! I am an esthetician with a lot of spa/ salon knowledge and I love when I can walk into a place and feel comfortable while getting a service.Kim's is a clean and friendly environment with a knowledgeable staff. I absolutely loved my experience at Kim's :)  My nail tech Vivian was awesome. She was so nice and did an amazing job, even after I clumsily smudged my big toe immediately after she finished it. She was so calm and just fixed it for me. I can't wait to go back in a few weeks :)Oh and Vivian was telling me about the gel polish that I knew nothing about and after trying it I will never do acrylics again! I've been here twice. The place is large, bright and clean. My first visit was great ; I was a walk-in, and I had a terrifice pedicure that lasted WEEKS! which is terrific. My second visit was, like others mentioned, very rushed even though the place wasn't crowded. The pedicure is not as meticulous and we'll see how long it lasts... I have hands like parsnip digging peasant who claws at the dirt for sustanence.  But I love to get my feets done up with a fine pedi.Kim' s is clean, with massage-o-matic chairs, and a good array of O.P.I and Essie product. I brought a friend who is 7 but acts at least 27.   She had her nails painted cobalt blue metallic, the gal at the salon added yellow daisies to gild the lily. The staff is great.
