I recently went back to Coco and see they have new owners. Absolutely terrible service.  I rarely give bad reviews. Not only was I rushed, the manager came to stand over me while I was picking a gel color to sarcastically ask when I was going to have a decision . The nail technician was rude and the staff made me feel so uncomfortable that I left halfway through the service.  The manager tried to apologize on the way out but they still insisted I pay $15 for a rushed, botched polish removal where cuticles were not even properly done and  my old polish had been smeared onto my fingers! Th staff is variable, and some do an exceptional job. It’s a random draw. But it’s the owner that I object to. Her business practices are questionable, and with so many good salons ( all cheaper) within a mile on Lincoln St, Needham St etc there’s no reason to support that in Newton. Read Less

I usually love going to Coco's, so it pains me to have to write this.Today I went for a pedicure. I did not have an appointment, but I have always had great success with walking in. I guess my luck just ran out. I was one of two people in the pedicure chairs, but the nail tech I had was very distracted (I am not sure why, because they were not overly busy). Mina did a decent job of trimming all of my toe nails, with the exception of one. It was my second toe and she just skipped over it. Finally, when I realized that she wasn't going to cut it, I asked if she could make it shorter. Next, while she was cleaning under my toe nails, she was not paying attention, and she jabbed me two times. It was hard enough and painful enough that I actually gasped and said ouch! When she finished the pedicure, she took me over to the table to dry my feet and she never came back to have me pay my bill or give me a neck massage. One of the reasons I come to Coco's is for the neck massage! After a very long  week of work, I was really looking forward to this.After 20 minutes, I finally got up to pay my bill. I realized that nobody was coming back. Mina's coworker then had to point out that I was at the counter. She came over to the counter (and did not apologize). I asked her if they still did neck massages. Her response was that they did, but she forgot about me (still no apology). She half-heartedly offered to do it then, but by that time, I was upset and disappointed and I needed to leave. When I got to the car, I looked at my feet and noticed that there is still polish on my big toes that did not get cleaned up. I am not happy with this pedicure. If I do go back, I will not see Mina. I have had a lot of great people at Coco's and I realize that people have days where they are a little "off" in their routine or work, but this was unacceptable. Read Less

Trang was AMAZING!!! Great pedicure, she took her time, was very detailed, and gave me a shoulder massage while drying. Coco's is also VERY clean, on the quiet side so it was easy to relax, and the pedicure included a paraffin wax for my heals and a hot stone massage all for 35.00- well worth it! Read Less

I have been going here for two years and until today would have given Coco five stars.  Today I went for my pedicure - I go once every 2-3 weeks.  A pedicure is $35.  I also had a $10 treatment to remove callouses.  $35+$10= $45.  The bill was $60 - I asked why and they said I had an extra foot massage which I did not.  They claimed I did.  I said I did not.  I didn't ask for this, it wasn't offered to me, and the pedicure seemed exactly like all the others I have ever received.  They were unwilling to change.  So I will likely never return as I have no tolerance for dishonesty.The quality of the pedicures is 4 or 5 stars, but there's many other nail places that won't purposefully screw you.  Beware. The worst nail salon I've ever been to. I had a manicure done and while the woman was taking the gel polish off my nails, she sliced my pinky open to where it was dripping blood. It took about 10 minutes to stop the bleeding, and she continued. My cuticles were never trimmed and the gel polish application was messed up twice so the manicureTook over an hour and 20 minutes. I was charged in full and I didn't want to say anything at that time since I had somewhere to be and instead I would call the manager to let her know what happened, which I did. She told me she and her husband reviewed the cameras very closely and denied that this ever happened!! She also told me her staff couldn't remember this incident and that the only thing she would do would give me back in for another manicure- no thanks! Never again. Read Less

Horrible owner offered services for one price then performed them and demanded more after. Very rude and discourteous. What seemed like a professional place turned out to be the complete opposite. We tried to explain that it must have been due to the language barrier but she denied it while mistaking the words we were saying. Also it was suspicious due to the fact that we were deciding about having a more expensive service done and when she thought we were she was being super nice and doing more. When we said we needed to discuss it and maybe reschedule for it that's when she demanded extra money. So finally we pay extra money but tell her that was going to be her tip and she says not to come back. We tried to explain that's not fair to do this to customers and to be reasonable and understanding of miscommunication. She didn't care and again said not to come back. Worst place ever! Read Less

What happened to this place?I had a really great mani/pedicure a few months ago from Kevin, and came back thinking I would get the same.This time I had a manicure from Helen. She soaked the gel off of my nails for all but 1-2 minutes. No gel came off, it wasn't long enough of a soak, so she filed down the tops of my nails a little and was planning on putting nail polish right on top. When I asked her to please soak longer she said she couldn't and wanted to file down more. She filed down so much that I am now left with thin/ brittle nails that have already broken and chipped after 1 day. I am used to having thick healthy nails and am upset they are ruined.She did NO cuticle work, and then when she applied paint, she missed spots on every nail- I can see clearly on every nail where she missed a 2nd coat and topcoat. I wish I could post a photo in this review- my nails look horrible.I hate to leave a bad review, but this manicure ruined my nails. I will not go back again. Read Less

Worst experience ever!! Do not go to this terrible place! I got a manicure that was supposed to last 2 weeks that chipped on Day 1. They had been very nice when they sold me on Nail Dazzle and said if there were any problems I should come back. I went back to have it fixed and the owner, Vy, was horrible. She started screaming at me, causing a scene in the salon, wanted me to pay $20 for a new manicure, and was incredibly rude. Terrible customer service. Unless you are a weekly customer and can get an appointment with one of the technicians with actual skills, forget it. My pedicure yesterday is much worse than I could have done myself. No cuticle cleaning or nail shaping, sloppy and bubbly polish. Stay away! Read Less

I always have a great experience at this nail salon. Since moving to the Newton area almost 2 years ago this is the only nail salon I will go to. I really like how clean the salon is. They have plastic inserts for the pedicure tubs and are very sanitary with the instruments they use. Also, at the end of your manicure and/or pedicure, you will receive the most amazing necks and shoulder massage with no extra charge. I highly recommend Coco Nails!!!Read Less

I went to Coco for the second time yesterday and I'm sold. The atmosphere is pleasant, everything is clean, and the staff are welcoming. I have gotten a mani-pedi both times here but I will definitely be coming back for gel! The pedicure is nice because they don't rush, scrub my feet well, and spend a significant time massaging... All top priorities for me. They have TVs on the news but no sound which is nice. I prefer the classical music playing in the background.I also really enjoyed the manicure even though, this past time, they did it at the same time as my pedicure. They use a great paraffin glove that is disposable so you get a new one every time.With the added bonus of a mini back massage while you're drying... I can't imagine I would find a more quality nail salon in the area. Prices aren't bad but it's not cheap either so be prepared to spend a little extra for a quality service. Read Less
