Too expensive. They add $6 per service if you use OPI Ultrashine nail polish. On top of the already high prices, its just too much. $32 for a polish change on fingers and toes for a child. The ladies were pleasant but I opted not to have the mani/pedi I had scheduled due to cost. We were the only customers in there for most of the time and 3 of the technicians sat there with no business while I waited for my daughter to get her polish change. I'll stick with Needham Day Spa. I made an appointment for a mani & pedi for right when they were to open at 9am. I made it early in the morning the same day. I assumed since their hours state that they open at 9am, it would be fine to make a same day appointment but apparently not, as I'm sitting outside of smudge & doors are locked & no one is here. Smudge does a decent job with manicures and pedicures.  They make a big deal out of being cleaner than other salons, and I have no reason not to trust them -- it made me go to them over other local salons.  I'm giving only three stars because of the way they run their business.  My mother-in-law bought me a gift certificate for a manicure and pedicure and instead of mailing it to me, they said they'd keep it at the store.  Months later, I went in to use it, and they said they couldn't find it.  They didn't have a way of looking it up without the card number (which of course I didn't have since I never saw the card) and made me pay in full.  They said they'd have a manager call me but never did.  I asked about it the next time I went in (to get the gel removed) and they didn't even have a record of my asking.  They also charged me $15 for the gel removal and didn't tell me beforehand what the charge would be -- I thought when I got the gel, they told me the removal was included.  I won't be going back, which is a shame, because they're clean, close and convenient. Had a pedicure at Smudge for the first time and was sorely disappointed. It was the worst pedicure I have ever received.  $44 for ill shaped and polished nails and no massage - why????? The technician barely touched my feet while she was too busy gossiping with the other technician. Customer service is horrible.  I wish I could give zero stars. I will never be returning to this over priced and ridiculous nail salon. Waste of time, money and energy. Why are people in Needham putting up with this nonsense??!!! Read Less

I love Smudge, but the customer service is waning now that they are getting busier. If you make an appointment, don't expect to be seen at that time- add about 15 minutes. Also, the technicians are very thorough, but are on the slower side. I will likely continue to return as they are very clean and my nails look great after, but with their prices I just wish the service was worth the cost. Read Less

I was in the area with my daughter and needed a quick mani for her and me, so we went here. This place was the closest to us and it was small, but clean and nice. The modern decor is inviting and the place looks clean. The owner did my nails and had one other tech working with him who did my daughters. They both did a nice job. The prices are a bit on the high side, but overall very pleased. Don't get confused by the natural nail polish, the color looks great and it's supposed to be vegan and natural, but it adds an extra $6 each service (I thought it was free). Read Less

My daughter celebrated her 9th birthday with 9 friends at Smudge. They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to enjoy pizza and dessert while the girls got pampered. The space is ideal, clean and staff were beyond friendly and welcoming. Read Less

The 5 stars are for Mary, her customer service and quality which exceed 5 stars in my opinion. I prefer not to speak about Smudge as a business and would only recommend you go here if you see Mary. If you see anyone else have a problem (if you see Mary you will have no problems) you will have to email the "owner" who needs to learn customer service skills in my opinion. Read Less

I went for a pedicure, which overall was nice, albeit a little pricey especially since I had add-ons (a callus treatment, plus the polish I chose was an organic one that was extra $$- which I was never informed of).  The one thing that frustrated me was that I never got a massage, and when I asked the pedicurist if she gave me a massage (to give her the benefit of the doubt), she lied and said yes.  Now, I'm 7 months pregnant, and I always have swollen ankles and feet by the end of the day.  I am certain that I would remember if I got a massage!  I wish that she had been honest with me and admitted that she forgot, and perhaps offered a extra-long massage or something for my next appointment (my nails were painted and wet so it was too late to do it then).  Considering what I paid, I feel like that would have been the right thing to do. I went here on a Gilt voucher and thought it was just OK given the regular prices. It's very clean and sterile, which I really like, but both times I went, I left with mangled thumb polish. I've never had this happen elsewhere and they've been willing to fix it, but it's hard to want to go back over and over again to fix a problem due to lack of time. The aestheticians are lovely, however, and it's a nice addition in Needham given relatively unclean alternatives. Read Less
