Extremely disappointed on my visit, Saturday, January 20. Lux is one of the more expensive nail salons in Milford and the service is waning, not in line with the prices.  I requested a spa pedicure and a pink fill as I have a French manicure of pink and white acrylic. I was told that I would have to wait 20 minutes after the spa pedicure for the fill because no one in the salon at the time worked with pink and white acrylic. After the pedicure, I had red polish on my skin of two toes (noticed as I was leaving). I was asked to remain seated in the pedicure chair while I waited for my nails. 20 minutes turned into 25, then 30.  I inquired and was told that the technician was 'almost' done with a client that was taken while I was waiting. No Time was given.  There is a lack of respect for customers schedules and we are expected to wait without definitive times all while paying top prices. Moreover, why is Lux Nails Offering services that EVERY technician is unable to perform?  Simply does not make sense. If you offer pink and white acrylic as a French manicure style, every employee should be trained and able to perform the service. No excuses. This review was a long time coming as I have been experiencing waning service over the past months with sub-par spa pedicures and a male nail technician who persistently over drilled and burned my nails and skin. Time to look for a new place. I had read reviews from dissatisfied customers. Yesterday, I had a mani and pedi ! My nail tech a amazing friend sweet and very compassionate.... towards the end I started to feel not so good .... a really strange faint feeling came over me , she had me lay down in the back room and got me some warm water with lemon , sugar and a little salt . Great service in general, large polish selection, everything came out perfect BUT I requested a coffin shape nail which came out correct on every finger except for my pointer. I didn't notice until after I had left but a few more seconds of time and it could've been avoided, it is pretty obvious (photos) and the tip is also missing a small spot of polish. Read Less

Lux Nails is fantastic.  I have been coming here for several years. My favorite technician is Kim. She is awesome.  She takes her time so that your nails are perfectly shaped and polished. Love the pedicures here! I love that they scrape your feet as that makes a huge difference and a lot of places don't do that. Staff is accommodating and friendly. My only minor complaint is they don't have a huge selection of nail colors but I usually find something. Read Less

I've been going to Lux maybe 6 months to a year now and it's honestly the best place in the area. Every time I get a gel manicure it lasts for roughly 3 weeks, usually the polish is barely coming up when I go back to get them done it's just that my nails have grown in that span of time. I also love that each employee is consistent. I don't have to call and ask for one specific manicurist that I know will give me a good manicure. I've been so many times with different employees and the result has been consistent each time: a super clean manicure that lasts for 3 weeks. I can say the absolute same about the pedicures as well! On top of it all, the staff is awesome, everyone is very friendly! I would recommend Lux to anyone that is looking for a place to consistently get their nails done. Read Less

I have visited Lux regularly for several years and always have a great experience. My gel manicures are flawless and last 2 weeks even as a nurse, when I am washing my hands very frequently at work. I always call ahead and am able to get an appointment that works with my schedule. I would recommend Lux to anyone in the Milford area. Read Less

I used to get gels done here regularly when I lived in the area, but switched to another salon for a couple reasons:1.  Some of the manicurists seemed to rush through and even skip steps in the process causing the gel to peel off within a couple days. The reason you pay more for gel is because it is supposed to last longer than traditional polish.2.  I am not entirely sure the tools are getting cleaned after each client.  I've seen manicurists take tools out of a box under their station.  I am sure they are cleaning them behind the scenes, but I couldn't be sure and it made me a little nervous.  I personally prefer salons that take them out of the sealed package each time because I know they are clean.There are 2 or 3 really good manicurists here who have done a wonderful job on my nails.  So it wasn't a completely negative experience every time.  There are just a few things that could use improvement. Not the best place to go. I went with a friend to get pedicures and we both agreed to go somewhere else in the future. There are some pros...I do have to say that it was very clean which was why I gave 2 stars. They layout is nice with pretty rock on the walls. It was busy on a Saturday which I saw as a good sign. The manicure stations are in the front and there are 8 pedicure chairs in the back 4 on each side. They do have a good selection of colors. Now to the cons...MY CHAIR WAS BROKEN! So I'd say at least half of a pedicure experience are the massage chairs! The remote looked awful and was missing half of the buttons (picture). The "massage hands" stayed by my head the entire time because the "lower" button was peeled off did not work. A lot of the other buttons weren't working either! Normally I love the "kneading" function at my lower back. What a bummer. The actually pedicure was subpar as well. I felt as though the technician was rushing the whole time and was sloppily painting my nails with a lot of the polish getting on my skin. While he did use his nail to try to get it off, I left with polish over my cuticles and on my skin surround the nail (picture). I don't pay $30 to have to go home and take off nail polish from my skin. The buffing and massage was quickly done as well. My friend's polish was put on thin and should have had another coat. Not a good experience! I had an appointment for pedicure and manicure. The pedicure was rushed and the woman (older with glasses) was rude! When it was time for my manicure the woman was being very rough, burning my skin while she was filing my nails. I asked if someone else could give me a manicure and the woman said no and told me that she would be more careful. I said "no thank you" she then told owner who was very unprofessional and did nothing to help the situation. So he doesn't seem to care about his customers either.This is supposed to be a relaxing spa like experience but it was far from that. I wouldn't even take my dog here!!!!! Read Less

What happened to this place? I loved it here when Amy was working. However, each time I return the service gets worse and worse. My friend is allergic to latex and they had a fit in front of us that they don't carry vinyl gloves. It's 2016, latex isn't allowed in the food industry, hospitals or schools. The last time we came this wasn't an issue someone did the pedicure no with no gloves and no complaint. She was tipped well.Read Less

I've been coming to Lux for a long time, but I feel like the quality of their manicures is going down hill. My gel manicures used to last 2-3 weeks, recently they've only been lasting 1-2, if that long. I think they are rushing through their services and not taking the steps to ensure that manis/pedis will last a long time. In addition, their prices are going up. I always ask for Suki. She is friendly and does a grast job.  The salon uses disposable liners in the pedicure tubs and I was told the instuments are sanitized. Overall I am always pleased with the overall cleanliness and my pedicure. Ask for Suki! Read Less

So, I requested the "Lux Pedicure", which allegedly is a massage experience with spa grade products and a meticulous lacquer application. What I got was a regular pedicure, with an added layer of lotion, tepid water, scalding towels, and a laquer application that required three tries to make it look any better than I could have done by myself at home. The technician didn't even shape my nails at all until I mentioned it to a second technician.This place really needs to rethink the name "Lux" until they have a staff that is invested in providing services in a proficient and professional manner.Next Morning Update : the laquer on all my toes has bubbled, and my heels are so roughed up from the haphazard filing/buffing that I actually snagged a thread on my socks, and will likely have to lose a pair of socks to this whole fiasco. I have been to this place several times and today will be my last visit.  Toe nails cut in a way to guarantee future ingrowns, rush/rough job with buffing block resulted in the slitting and bleeding of a toe (which took considerable effort to staunch), doing a super shoddy manicure and constant babble about upgrading services etc.  Obvious minimal effort so they can promote higher priced services.  All this and they were not rushed as an excuse--although I feel I am entitled to a nice job under any circumstances.  Now I am looking forward to infections and redoing the job myself.  Embarassed that I tipped these people.  Never again.  Stay away... Terrible experience here. I made an appointment for 10:00 and didn't get seen until 10:30. I needed to have my old acrylic taken off before I got a new set. The girl who was working with me proceeded to try and pry the acrylic off with a fake nail. I asked her to please soak it off. I had to move work stations twice. Finally, I see the girl i was  working with originally start working on a pedicure. This guy comes over and sits down who doesn't say one word to me and begins filing my nails down. Still saying nothing. He pulls out a cuticle nipper from a drawer which really disgusts me because obviously it wasn't sanitized. I decided that I wasn't comfortable continuing. This is quite easily the worst salon I've ever been to. I shouldn't have left my regular salon but I was on that side of town picking up prescription glasses at target. I decided to pop in and get a quick pedicure after reading the good reviews. When I put my foot in the pedicure chair I stepped on something sticky and when I pointed it out the girl working there mumbled something in a different language and the employees started laughing. She never cleaned the chair just put water in it telling me repeatedly put your foot in put your foot in. This should have been the final straw but im so non confrontational and stayed anyways. I don't know what was left in the water but immediately after I left I developed an itchy rash that has become full blown contact dermatitis on both feet spreading up to my thighs. I absolutely love this place. They always fit me in, even if I call for a day-of appointment. My gel manicures from here last 2-3+ weeks. I am very disappointed to leave a negative review. I went in at a busy time and had to wait, that is understandable. The woman who did my mani pedi was unfriendly and extremely rushed. I wouldn't have left a negative review for that. 4 days later I first had a rash on one toe and then another. It is tinea pedis. Had to wait a few minutes for a pedicure today, a Friday early afternoon in July. Busy, excellent service when finally taken back to a pedicure chair. So here's where it grinds my gears:I feel rushed today more than normal and that's why I'm writing this review. I understand it's super busy, but I wouldn't rush the pedicure service. I'm already finished and the lady next to me, who got here before me, is still receiving her pedicure. The guy doing my pedicure went onto the next client while I'm still in the chair! And still the lady sitting next to me is getting her calves massaged. She hasn't even received the towel treatment before applying the polished. This is bull crap. I timed this service today too; 27 minutes from start to finish. Starting meaning my feet touching water til finished with polish. Unbelievable! I've honestly been here so many times before, even when busy in prime time and I have NEVER had such a short pedicure. I'm sad to say I'm Not coming back. Read Less

I'm not a girly-girl by any means... I think the last time I got my hair cut was 6 months ago, and I only wear makeup when I feel like it. However, a good pedicure is a must, and I've found it at Lux Nails. Even though it's a bit out of the way for me, I won't go anywhere else!I've had both the standard and spa pedicures, and even when I've come 30 minutes before closing, they never rush or make me feel unwelcome.
