I went to Gloss for the first time today and I am so happy with my visit. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted at the front with a smile, checked in, and told to pick out my color. I definitely suggest making an appointment online and going as early as possible because it seems to get busy in there the later you go. I got a gel manicure with french, and I needed to remove the gel I previously had on. Tran was the one doing my nails and she was so pleasant and happy to serve me, and offered me a drink as soon as I sat down. She talked to me like I was a normal person, unlike many other nail salons where they all talk to each other instead of the customer. While removing my previous manicure from another place, she told me they had been using acrylic chemicals to try and make my gel last longer, which ended up doing quite the opposite, but felt like cement coming off my nails. I am so happy I discovered Gloss where they don't use any chemicals at all and I was grateful my nails weren't burning when I put them under the light, like they did at the previous place. My total was $30 for gel removal and gel manicure plus $5 for the french. Don't forget if you mention yelp you get a 15% discount!! My total was now under $30 and I am so pleased with my experience. I have gone here quite a few times. I go because it looks clean and nice. But there was one time felt like I was being judged more than relaxed. I don't write reviews a lot but I felt strongly enough to write this one. I go to other places where they are talking in another languages as well and never felt this way. I'm always careful about which nail salons to go to after I had a bad experience. Friend recommended this place and I'm in love. SUPER clean - they don't do any tips or anything in order to preserve the cleanliness. I get in for a gel removal and manicure and am out in under 40 minutes, which is another reason I love this place. It's bright, super clean, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and talented. I almost always have Ivy and she's been my go to for awhile - my pedi's last months and my gels last at least 2 weeks. After moving a bit further out of Boston, I was worried about finding a good nail salon. I go consistently every 2 weeks for a gel manicure and I've never been disappointed. Most of their gel is OPI, they don't have any Essie gel polish. The owner is great, and greets you by name. I've had good manicures with everyone I've seen, but my go-to's are Mimi & Morandy. I called to make an appointment and the lady on the phone was very unprofessional. She gave me a time for me to come in and I asked if she can take me in early and her response was "No so do you want to come in or not" I took a second to think about it and she very coldly asked " so yes or no" I responded with no thank you and she just hang up without saying anything. I had a gel manicure and regular pedicure. Gel polished lasted over two weeks and my toes are going on 4 with regular polish! I would give it 4.5 stars but the cushions are kind of dirty in the salon. Not awful but I think they could take it up a notch. This is without a doubt my favorite nail salon to go to. The owner is an absolute genius and sweetheart. I am always greeted by my first name. This salon is definitely more like a spa. It provides a relaxing feeling the moment you walk through the door. They are relatively affordable and for the extra dollar or two that you pay the cleanliness, quality, and friendly service is well worth it. First and last time going to this "spa". I was very excited to try this place since it looks so fancy. I am not sure if the girl who did my nails missed or skipped a step when she did my gel but 6 days later my index gel came off after coming out of the shower. As you can see in the picture, I didn't force or picked the color. It just came off, my nail doesn't even look damaged as it look on the rest after removing it myself because I cannot be with one finger unpainted. The staff there are very nice, place looks clean and fancy but I honestly don't think is worth the price, they call it a "spa" but you can't even get a massage while getting your pedicure. Gloss is amazing- the CLEANEST nail salon you will ever find (they use fresh tools every single time- no dipping them in jars or using frighteningly old nail files). Every time I come in, the owner Mai greets me by name (And I've watched her greet EVERY client that walks in her salon by name. It's amazing), and I always leave there with a smile on my face and a gel mani that ALWAYS lasts 3 weeks at least! I truly am baffled by some of the negative reviews on here! It's not a salon's fault that someone is on their cell phone (Seriously? Maybe ask the person who's on their phone to stop instead of throwing a tantrum and leaving mid pedicure... or maybe ask to be moved further away....). And as for some people saying their manis are too quick... that's literally the main reason I LOVE gloss so much! I don't have to spend an hour and a half here to have a manicure! 30-45 minutes and I can be out the door! The staff is great- Mai, Michael, Karen, Mimi, etc... all very talented, so sweet to talk to and truly know how to take care of their clients.If you're looking for a CLEAN salon, a nice experience and a manicure that lasts you 3 weeks, this is the place to go!! Have been happy with manicure/pedicure here. I have had 2 treatments, opting for a regular, non-gel polish. The spa is clean, the technician is efficient - and unlike others who have reviewed, she asks before using nail clippers. Color choice is fine for me. Appreciate that it's cash & credit card-friendly. I rated 4/5 because of funky step up for pedicure (it's not a deal-breaker for me) and while clean and bright, it's not trying to be some super-lux hotel spa. I think the salon is really nice looking and modern, however the owner has quite an attitude, she offers "free chip repair" but dont try to go in for that, she will make you feel like a problem, ive never felt so ashamed going back for a chipped nail lol..$30 minimum for anyone walking in the door, she should be glad to fix for free..after reading the other reviews its clear that i wasnt the only one whos nails only lasted 2 days before chipping..the owner said that she has never seen anyones nails chip so quickly, making me feel like it was my fault?? Gloss is easily the best nail salon on the north shore of Boston, if not the best I've ever been to. Their owner is super organized and keeps the place so clean you could lick the floors. All of the girls are so nice, welcoming and hospitable. You feel like you're at home when you are getting your nails done, which they do a darn good job without rushing. Loved this place! I've been wanting to try this place out for awhile because it looked super feminine and pretty and I like getting pampered in pretty places. I went with two other people and I love places that let you book online because having to call and try to make reservations with more than one person is such a hassle, I don't bother doing it. Booking online was straightforward and easy (I booked a week and a half out), lots of availability and no guesswork.I booked a pedicure. Our appointments were for 11:15 AM, and it's on a main street, so we went earlier as we thought it might be difficult to find parking. We didn't have trouble at all and arrived with 15 minutes to spare. Once inside, we checked in, it was pretty busy, but we were able to find seats in the seating area. They offered us beverages and were very attentive. Once they came for us, my nail tech, Connie, was very nice. The pedicure area was super comfortable. We chatted a bit, and she was very meticulous. Once done, she brought me to the dryer area, and I accidentally tripped and smudged three toes. I felt awful having to ask if she could redo them, but she was very nice and didn't show any signs of annoyance. I had to wait for my friends to finish with their services, but afterward, I asked them what they thought and they all liked the services they received. Wonderful space. Great pedicure seating area. Family friendly. They made my mother in law feel quite pampered and then asked about her every time they see me.
