I just got my nails done. Full set of acrilic. I asked that they make them look thin and natural because work a lot with paper. I couldn't be happier. She did a beautiful job. This is the first place I've gone and made this request and had them do exactly what I wanted. Not to mention the fact that it is very well decorated. Clean, nice staff, poor product. I had a mani/pedi, and am not happy with either. The nail polish selection is decent, but not very organized. My toe polish was sloppy and parts of my finger nails have zero polish on them! Ironically she got the same amount of polish on my skin as she missed on my nails! My long, natural nails were not filed properly, as they have that scratchy feeling. The very top of my nails are not painted either. I got a gel manicure and it lasted for 3 weeks before chipping. They had a good selection of colors for gel and the salon was nicely decorated and clean. The only problem was that I was told a gel manicure  would cost $25 when I walked in, which is a pretty average price. Then when I was paying I was told it was an extra $5 to remove gel manicures. I've never been charged an extra $5 to have my previous gel manicure removed and thought that was a little cheap to charge for that. Overall average salon but nice technicians. Read Less

I went on Saturday to get my acrylic nails removed and the front desk lady rudely told me they don't do the "soak off" method.. that I would have to do it at home. FIRST, the professional way of removing nails is with the soak of method not my using another nail to flip the acrylic one off. She had a horrible attitude and the people that worked there just looked and didnt do anything. Never going there again and I'm making sure my friends don't go as well. Read Less

I love everything about this place. The look, the workers, the work, EVERYTHING. I came in to get my acrylics reshaped and it's nice that they took the time to work on me even though that had appointments rushing in (and I was just a walk-in). I also really appreciate how nice everyone working there was, and not the fake kind of nice but genuinely nice. They like to joke, make conversation, they honestly just make you feel so comfortable and I love that about them. It was my first time here, but definitely not my last. It's also relatively cheap compared to places in Boston. I'll definitely be back whenever I find myself in Amherst and in need of a mani or pedi. :) Read Less

They rushed my pedicure then they rushed me out the door because it was the end of the night and they wanted to go home. I didn't realize my toes weren't properly dry until I got home and saw the polish all over my toes. They had already closed and I had to get on the plane the next morning. I made an appointment to have a gel manicure removed and to receive a new one, I arrived on time, and was told I would wait for a while. They weren't busy but I was perfectly fine waiting for a nail technician. When I was helped, my nails were filed and wrapped in acetone. I was then left with the acetone for over 45 minutes. I asked the people working there to help me and to have the nail polish removed multiple times, and I was completely ignored. I even explained that the skin around my nails was starting to burn, but was still ignored. I finally realized that I was going to have damage done to my skin and nails so I went to the sink and took off the acetone wraps myself. There was still no assistance offered so I left the shop with my nails in a far worse state than when I had arrived. There are many other nail salons in the Amherst/Hadley area who will provide far better service, I drove over to one the next day where they helped me with the damage that the employees at Peter's Nails had done. I don't write negative reviews, but would really like to help someone else avoid having this painful experience. Read Less

Two stars because I have been to Peter's Nails before and was happy with the service, it's a decently clean and nice environment.  That being said, I was extremely disappointed with the service today and will not go back again.  I went in for a simple gel manicure and that is where the trouble began.  I sat down in the chair and the man doing my nails started peeling off the old gel manicure!  I stopped and asked him about it because everywhere I've ever been has told me absolutely not to do that, it takes off layers of nail and leaves what remains very thin and weak.  He simply did not answer me and kept doing it!  I know he spoke English because afterward he got really angry with me about my nails being too short!  I told him that I clipped them yesterday because I didn't plan on coming for a manicure today - I actually told him that I unexpectedly had to get my nails done because of a FUNERAL and he kept getting mad at me about how short they were!  After that the service just went downhill.  He was clearly rushing and kept squeezing my fingers really hard as he clipped my cuticles, he clipped three of them deep into my skin, so short that they started to bleed.  A lot.  And then he got aggressive with me asking "how did this happen?"  He then ran over to another station and grabbed this blue liquid the he put all over the bleeding parts of my cuticules.  It hurt so bad that I winced!  He asked "Does that feel good?" and I was like "No, it hurts!" and he was like "No it doesn't!"  It honestly seemed like he wanted to hurt me a little?  The rest of the manicure was less eventful, with him just doing a really sloppy job of painting the gels, rushing so fast that it didn't even take the 45 seconds of drying time before he was done with the other hand.  The whole time he kept making comments about how my nails were too short.  I thanked him, gave him a good tip, and got the H-E-L-L out of there, his energy was so terrible.  When I got to my car I looked down and saw the worst polish job I've ever had, there's paint all over my fingers and raw bloody spots around a lot of the cuticles.  I feel bad writing this review because a lot of the people that work at Peter's are truly caring and take pride in what they do.  I just wish I hadn't gotten caught on the bad side of whatever mood this guy was in.  Beware. There are so many different color choices (they always have my FAVORITE light pink color that no other salon has) and the gel manicure lasts at least 3 weeks. I wanted to get my nails done before leaving for holiday and saw that Peter's had the best reviews in the area.The salon was nice and clean. The staff were friendly and everyone there seemed to be having a nice time. Fong did my nails and he was very nice. He was patient with me and just a chill guy. He did my nails according to a picture I showed him and they came out great. I was very picky with the length of my nails and the colors and he (and the staff) were very patient with helping me. Overall great experience.The ONLY reason I am giving a 4/5 is because in the waiting area of the salon, there was a dirty, 1/3 filled fish tank that had several gold fish in it. The fish looked miserable and the tank was tucked away in the corner under a cloth. This upset me and other patrons who sat in the waiting area. If the staff at Peter's would either take much better care of the goldfish or just give them away to a better home, that'd be great. The place is beautiful and it has a nice atmosphere. The nail techs were nice and the wait for me ( as a walk in ) was not too bad since I had other things to do in the area. All this deserves a star. The main reason for the low rating is the experience after getting my refill. I am not a person who is rough with my nails and they looked beautiful when they were finished. I was happy with them until a week later when two of my nails broke off. My pinky nail broke after adjusting my shirt one morning. Lucky for me, the acrylic and the nail broke off sparing my natural nail. The day after, my index finger nail broke after trying to fix my headphones (just pushing the foam part back in its place should not have broken my nail. This nail was not as lucky as the acrylic and the nail tip broke off taking a large piece of my nail with it. I can see a gap between my nail and the acrylic and I can even push up the rest of the acrylic because it was not bonded correctly. This nail salon is great for other things but I don't think acrylics are one. Read Less

I spent a few weeks in the Northampton area this summer, and I needed some nail care during that time.  This review is for the two amazing people at Peter's Nails who took care of me.Sunny -- She is the BEST! I needed someone to take care of 3 nails on my right hand that I keep long for playing guitar.  She skillfully, quickly and gently removed the old acrylic job I had done elsewhere, and even discussed other options for keeping my nails long and strong.  I was concerned about how the acrylic tips and fill would damage my nails, and we decided to try several coats of clear gel instead. Sunny was very knowledgeable, professional, and did a beautiful job shaping and applying the gel.  The gel still looked awesome 3+ weeks later when my nails had grown out and it was time to reapply.  And the best part is that this option worked perfectly for playing my style of guitar.  Thanks for your amazing work, Sunny!  Too bad I live on the West Coast, or I'd make this my permanent spot.Fong -- He did an amazing pedicure! I started coming to Peter's about 6 months ago, and I have rarely been disappointed. They do amazing gel manicures and regular pedicures. Most of them remember my name, my usual colors and the way I like them shaped. Some make great conversation while others don't, but I enjoy the mixes of personalities. The owner was gracious to let me know that they were full and it would be at least 30 minutes before they would have a pedicure chair open. I left did some shopping and came back as directed. Made an app thinking I would be paired with a more senior nail tech, but that was not the case at all. I was matched with the tech that had the least experience, and it showed. I started with a regular pedi and all was fine and then it came time for the gel nails. My tech and I were seated next to her boss (presumably the owner?) And she became extremely nervous. After pointing out 4 crooked nails, I just let her do her thing knowing I would get them redone in a week or so. Her boss kept looking over and asking how she was doing, which added a lot of obvious pressure. She told me if I said it was bad she might get fired. I still left a 20% tip, because I know the hard work that goes into the service industry, but I unfortunately will not be back here. Paying $55 for a mani/pedi with 6+ crooked nails is just insane. Favorite salon in the area. Best of all, they are consistent. I've futzed around with other salons all over western MA but they are the best. All of the manicurists are adept at applying gel Polish and very efficient. The salon is always very clean also. They provide great pedicures too. I received a mani-pedi here before and was very happy with the way my nails came out! Smooth, flawless application. They have a nice selection of nail polish and their prices are very reasonable (especially if you are a student, holla). They did a great job at the nail art I wanted too (a flower, in case you were wondering).The staff is also very friendly. I'm accustomed to very gossipy nail technicians where I'm from (I'm too broke to afford anywhere good in Boston). The amount of awkward eavesdropping I've endured as the women would talk about their customers in their native tongues (like hello, I can understand you. Vietnamese speaker over here. Yeah, hi.) is ridiculous. But the people here are very professional! If you live or go to school in the area, give this place a go! Read Less

Great place for a manicure! They have a nice selection of OPI, Essie, and China Glaze nail polish.The staff do a great job and are very nice. My manicurist was named Jong (I think).
